I'm glad there are professionals out there who recognize this type of behaviour and take action.

Can confirm: tattoo removal is fucking hell. Story time. You’ll love this one. I have always wanted to be a tattoo artist and be heavily tattooed since I was like 13. I planned my first (very small) tattoo for my 19th birthday (I’m 34 now) and loved it. It was a small design of filigree and stars on my lower right hip less than 3” long and 1” wide in black ink. I got home and, like a dummy, left the care instructions in the bathroom where my dad found them. He absolutely lost his fucking mind, called me all sorts of horrible names, told me I was worthless now, blah blah blah, and threw me out of the house. After 2 weeks of couch surfing he called me back and said “Ok, you can continue to live here, I will continue to pay for your car insurance, health insurance, college, food, phone, etc., but you’re getting that removed and you’re paying for it.” So, being a young victim of emotional abuse and feeling like I had no other choice, I agreed, and reluctantly went through 6 sessions of the most excruciating pain I could ever imagine. It was even more horrendous looking than Gabby’s. Horribly bloody and bruised. I could literally smell my flesh cooking at each session. $2000 I paid for that utter tormenting trauma. It was fucking horrible. 😅 Since then, I’ve gotten a half sleeve, a giant rib piece, and a huge thigh piece that won’t be going anywhere. I love all of my tattoos. But I’ve kept the big disfiguring scar on my hip of the tattoo that once was. I should really get something to cover it up, but part of me doesn’t want to forget it. My dad and I are on better terms now than we were then, but he’s never apologized or admitted any wrongdoing. I don’t know that I’ll ever be able to forget that. So that’s my traumatic tattoo removal story. 😂

@@SunriseOpportune Yes, it was much more expensive and less widely available than it is today. This all happened 15 years ago now (although it doesn’t feel like it). But, I also think the place I got it done may have been ripping me off. I also don’t think they really knew what they were doing since the tattoo removal I hear about nowadays doesn’t cause anywhere near as much burning, bruising, scarring, and pain as mine did. I also heard that they are supposed to be using Lidocaine to numb the area, but they only used a topical numbing cream and it barely did anything to mask the pain. I got it done at a “Med-Spa” in Baltimore where they also did laser hair removal and that sort of thing. I just went with the first place I found that offered tattoo removal. My only explanation is that I was young and dumb. LoL. 😆

I’m not qualified to diagnose her but as someone who spent over a year in various psych facilities, it honestly seems to me that she has BPD on top of being bipolar.
With BPD, you don’t have a stable sense of self, and you feel a deep emptiness. Many people with BPD cope with that void by creating a new identity (with new hobbies, likes and dislikes, new friends, sometimes personality traits change too…) and after a while, they realize that it’s not really them. They feel empty again, and the cycle repeats itself.
Meds can help, but they won’t cure or cover BPD symptoms up. 90% of the healing happens through therapy, but it’s a slow process that takes years, and I wish her a lot of luck with that, whether she has BPD or not.

I’m right there with you. It honestly looks more like codependency to me. The fact that she likes the tattoos, but only when she’s around other artists and musicians, but feels insecure about them around other people, tells me she is so consumed with what other people think of her that she is just trying to conform into whatever she thinks the person she’s speaking to at the moment wants her to be, at least in her own estimation. Sounds like she is just so desperate for the approval of others and so used to transforming herself into whatever she thinks other people want that she doesn’t even know who she really is. I used to be just like that too and it fucking sucks. I really feel for her. In her manic states, she is and will be ALWAYS trying to find the 'eldorado' in her mind where she feels great and clean and in peace - then she keeps starting projects, getting them, seeing is not the eldorado she searches, leaving/removing the project, restarting, and doing it all over again. I think my only concern is that she seems convinced that 100% removal with zero scarring is a definite and a lot of people think that and it’s just not a guarantee. It could happen and she could be lucky but I think everyone needs to be prepared for that going into a removal because emotionally that would be so difficult to deal with if you were convinced this would solve the problem completely then find out after going through so much that it doesn’t and you aren’t lucky. I think it needs talked about more in general too because some people think it’s a magic definite and go into getting tattooed thinking that and have that false sense of security which makes them more rash in their decisions because they don’t view it as permanent really.

there is definitely a conversation to be had about people going through things and thinking a tattoo will "fix" them. same with most body mods honestly, even including something smaller like dyeing your hair. body mods shouldn't be used as a replacement for good therapy. i think that's why there's a lot of stigma now about having colorful hair, many piercings, tattoos, etc. very often those people are using changing their appearance as a way to run from deeper issues. i think the reason gabbie is getting so much hate is exactly that- she's an example of why people judge modded people like they do. in her case, they were right.

    • @Arionlappy
      @Arionlappy Год назад +7

I dyed my hair crazy colors regularly for 20 years. I didn't do it for any emotional reasons, just thought it was pretty. But every time someone would ask if it was a "cry for help" or if I was going through something, I would reply with "So what if I am? What if this is how I'm self-destructing? It's not hurting anyone including myself, it's not affecting my ability to work or go to school, and it's hair and will grow back with no scars or issue at all." So not "reversible" but not permanent, ya know? So I think dying hair is actually a great body mod to choose when you are in a place where you wanna be drastic but don't wanna do real damage.

When you say she has a very positive outlook on the removal process, I’d be willing to bet she had the same energy about getting the tattoos in the first place. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if she does a 180 in a few months again.

Also 9:25 I understand still liking the tattoo but it being a reminder of the headspace you were in when you got them. I have a lot of bipolar friends with awesome tattoos that have negative associations with them because they got them at a time where their mental health was really bad. 💭

I went to a dermatologist’s office who offered the 2 part laser removal (first laser breaks up the scar tissue and second laser breaks up the ink) and I was able to get lidocaine injections so I was numb for the whole process - even after the numbness wore off it wasn’t painful at all. It turned out to be a terrible idea, I just went along with the artists design and didn’t think much about it because there was too much going on inside my head. Looking back, I shouldn’t have started the process in the first place.
I hated it as soon as I got home and it sent me into an anxiety spiral. A year and a half after getting it I had covered by another artist in a different studio, and love what I now have. I spent time planning it and working the with artist, and it also helped that I was in a much better mental place.

This seems like a useful case study in why getting early job stoppers isn't an overall great idea. We think we understand how we'll feel in and respond to certain situations (like being visibly tattooed) but, in reality, it's impossible to know what it's like until you're in it. And GH not only launched into visible work, but it's also front and centre (behind the ear or back of the neck is also visible but is less involved in a person's immediate impression of you), and I can imagine her having some unexpected identity issues alongside the discomfort of feeling more observed in public spaces. She has a very young audience so I hope this serves as a bit of a cautionary tale and reinforces the value of listening to your tattoo artist when they say you should ideally be more extensively tattooed before going for hands and neck. 💭

But from someone who hasn't seen what she's been up to in a long time, this feels very healthy to me. She is talking very clearly and sounding very rational. In response to people disagreeing with her she's not freaking out, she's showing her appreciation for the concern but sticking with her decision, which I think is a good amount of maturity to go through something like a tattoo removal and is apparently not a level of maturity she showed before getting the tattoos. Even if the tattoos are "cool" it seems like she realized thats not whats important to her and it doesn't reflect who she is and I really respect that she's admitting that. This is also hopefully a message to her young fans to not hastily get tattoos just bc they think it'll make them cool

I'm not even sure how I ended up this way. I started wanting tattoos because my brother liked them and had them, he died when I was 19 and he was 25. I wanted to try and keep him alive in my own way. After so much therapy and awakening, I didn't even know if I'm the type of person who gets tattoos. It's a funny thing really. I guess I'm not mad about it and I think about getting more still but I have a hard time picking a solid identity or at least being secure in one. At the end of the day they are beautiful pieces of art and they are a part of me. It hurts when I'm judged poorly for them and that does factor into my insecurities. The lack of empathy and understanding people display for bipolar disorder is wild to me.
People here are even questioning if she is _truly_ bipolar or if she's acting like this for attention.
    Girlies.
Her attention-seeking behavior is PART OF BEING BIPOLAR. She doesn't think it through because the CHEMICALS IN HER BRAIN make her impulsive. It's very clear that many of you have not experienced having your psyche fucked with by illness, completely transforming your behavior from one moment to the next. And I am glad you have never had to feel that. No one should have to, in a perfect world.
What is fucked is the lack of ability to THINK WHAT THAT WOULD BE LIKE. To hudt understand that not everyone is the same as you, not everyone experiences day to day life the same as you, and that life is HELL with disorders like this that fuck with your very ability to think logically and keep emotions in check.
Everything is extreme. Nothing is calm.

    Hi, everybody! Great video, Celle!
I usually don't comment, but maybe this helps someone. As a person who's suffered with low self-confidence and low self-steem, and based on what was shown in this video and in the previous one, my take is that Gabbie was feeling really down and wanted to boost her mood. She talks about how she feels more confident with the temporary tattoos and so on. And the videos after getting inked also portray a lot of confidence.
Some of her followers saw that change and labelled it as costume-y, etc. I don't think she was faking it, though. IMO she did feel like that.
The thing is.... Tattoos are not "fixers". You can't fix how you feel deep within with a tattoo.
Sure, at first , with the adrenaline (and in her case, the "mission-acomplished" feeling) you'll feel like everything is great now, you rock, and so on. But if you don't really feel like that deep within, such feelings will be only temporary.
And once they fade.... the tattoo loses its meaning/purpose. And you'll end up feeling bad about them.
Gabbie wanted to feel "good in her skin", as she put it. So she got the tattoo for that. However, having such a big and visible tattoo takes a lot of self-confidence, which she doesn't have (yet, I pray). Therefore, the regret.
So, my message is: think carefully before going through permanent procedures if you're not feeling great about yourself. Work on fixing / improving what you dislike about yourself first. Don't think that aesthetic procedures will do that for you.
And if you're in such position, seek professional help. You deserve and you can feel great.
And I hope Gabbie gets there.

Your body is your body, but Gabbie getting them seemed impulsive and now REMOVING them seems wildly impulsive. I understand she is diagnosed Bipolar, which can lead to impulsive decision-making, but she needs to be aware that she IS, in some sense, a role model to people, and not everyone has the amount of privilege she does to just get multiple laser treatments for something that is supposed to be permanent. It sounds like she should've stuck with temporary tattoos. She needs some serious help and to stay OFF social media for a good long while.

    • @lalailm

What does other people not having the privelege of removing their tattoos has to do with ANYTHING here? We are talking about someone with BPD, which is not smth you can control. So pulling the “you are role model for many people” card here doesnt really make sense, imo. She did it TO HERSELF, and with her own money. What other people are going to do with that is simply not her fault nor relevant for her own personal situation.

@@lalailmbpd doesn't require you to be on social media. She could have at least been honest about how her mental state was the reason why she got them done. She should probably also be in therapy and would have been told by a psychologist that this new phase is a part of her cycle, and not film it for others to see or as I said be honest

That is a really good point about being careful with highly visible tattoos. The tattoos I love the most are hidden and I definitely have found certain groups I feel totally comfortable with my tattoos exposed and others not. I have removed a very large thigh tattoo and have a medium size foot tattoo I want to remove. On another note, her removals are reacting different than mine did. Might be a diff/new laser.

but also!!!! the person who said "you should remove this if you want to be a tattoo artist" was so out of line for that - and this video kinda proves it to me
you're so open and you're very compassionate despite disagreeing w Gabbies previous tattoo experiences
I truly enjoy your soft spoken commentary on things and I would love to continue to hear someone with an education in tattoos do more commentary on celeb tattoos!! I would be very interested in a video about how tattoos can be a form of self harm.
Also I am in the process of removing two of my tattoos, and I hate them even more now because they look like shit partially faded and blotchy. One thing no one mentioned to me about tattoo removal is the itching. I don't know if I'm allergic to the ink and my body is reacting as it breaks it down and clears it out, but they are so itchy and inflamed and irritated and look even more terrible.

Watching the other video and then this one I can’t help but feel like there’s some weird plot twist here and that these were all just temporary tattoos anyway and she got tired of keeping up the charade, so she decided to “remove” them. That would explain the machine not being turned on or doing anything in the photos and the tremendous amount of “bruising” from “removal” which really just looks like makeup applied over temporaries in a softer color to make it look like they’re fading. It all seems to add up to someone pretending to know what the tattoo removal process could look like but failing miserably to execute.
    But what do I know.
