That’s the problem though. Half the fun of many releases is the hype leading up to launch, and the community aspect of us all playing it together. I mean people can already do this right now and essentially pay a launch tax. They complain about 70 dollar games but if they just wait 3 weeks to a month they can get most games on sale. So this won’t impact much. Personally if it’s a game I want, it doesn’t break the bank to pay 70 bucks and I’ll usually go Deluxe or Ultimate anyway for the added content (unless it’s something stupid like an art book or digital soundtrack). Worth is going to be different for everyone. Rockstar is honestly better off just doing 70 base anyway. For a game like that most people will buy Deluxe, and they avoid a PR disaster. But if not, you’re right. People that can’t swing higher pricing def have options available to not pay it. I’m not waiting a month or two to play GTA 6 just to save 10 bucks though. Lol. And Rockstar knows it.
Oh people will settle. As a movie collector I have seen plenty of people who spend 200 dollars just for deluxe packaging on a single film. So unfortunately in the grand scheme of things 100 bucks is chump change.
I wish I could support the gaming industry and the new games that come out but I’m broke. The economy is rough right now. I work at a grocery store. Buying groceries is one thing, but saving up money needs to be a requirement too. I just can’t imagine being able to afford a lot of video games that come out, so then I’m one of the people waiting years for the games I want to become cheap.

You should clarify what the $100 are for. Are you talking about the base game? Are talking about base game + DLC. I have seen lots of games at $100 or even more, but is for the premium/deluxe edition. The base game is always cheaper. If they try $100 for a base game, there will be chaos.

I nearly never bought a game on day 1 let alone pre order. It was a month ago that i got a ghost of Tsushima physical copy for just 10 bucks, even today here in Greece at least its still 50-60 bucks normally

Wait until they announce an early access edition - what price are you gonna put on that? Then throw in the deluxe and ultimate (or whatever they call them) on top of that In many countries with their exchange rates, some are already equivalent to $100 (USD). The price of GTA 6 could put some people off, and it could be a good opportunity for some "smaller" games to actually benefit from sales when it is released. More a case of no other big games will likely go against it, so what other games will those not buying GTA6 actually buy - the vast majority of gamers will not be buying it (that is just the fact of any game)
I'm glad i stopped caring about GTA after 4. Not even tempted to waste $100 on the new one. I just hope other games i actually care about don't follow this.

While i think everyone can agree that the cost to make games it a lot higher, the cost distribute/sell the games is way lower. Company's can make a case that development is pricier than it use to be, but that means gamers can make the argument that with fewer physical copies going out and most of the profit going to digital, that is were they are saving money. If anything, we are settling to pay more, and getting less. We use to get 3 things with a new game. The game disk/cartridge, the case, and usually a game manual. If we reach an all digital age, those are 3 things game company's no longer will have to pay for, which puts each sale at virtually 100% profit. I feel like that could be a strong debate in keeping game prices the same.

My understanding is software is less expensive than hardware and the money is made more from software. The fact that digital is less costly than physical copies of games, it would be reasonable to argue that prices should either go down or be stable. I think they just want to see how far they can push the envelope until someone sues which can be just as costly as them raising prices.
I think the only permanent solution is a lawsuit where they actually lose . It will become a zero sum game for them. Lawsuits are more powerful than just waiting for prices to go down. There’s no reasonable justification for this, especially if it just limits software purchases. It makes absolutely zero sense, terrible strategy

The only reason costs have gone up for everyone is because people don’t have a legal education and everything related to costs of goods and services are related to negotiations which is an element of contract law. There’s no reasonable justification at this time in history to be ignorant of the elements of a valid and legally binding contract. Also, equity follows the law. The only reason costs have gone up for everyone is because people don’t have a legal education and everything related to costs of goods and services are related to negotiations which is an element of contract law. There’s no reasonable justification at this time in history to be ignorant of the elements of a valid and legally binding contract. Also, equity follows the law. Education is needed even when it comes to doing business and the consumption of goods and services.
You could make the case that GTA 6 is worth $100 based on the amount of content that is in the game! the game is basically a real-life simulator where you can go and do whatever you want! which other game on the market can provide that kind of realism and replay ability! as for other games, they is just no conceivable way you can sell them for $100! they are simply not worth the price!
