Great to see you work, and to hear your Yorkshire Dales accent. I am also thankful that you are still posting videos. I can't wait to watch some more. I just started my journey into pottery. So, all your videos will be really useful!
Can't wait to have my dad teach me some things with clay! He and my mom used to have a little pottery company before they had to sell out because of us kids xD
thanks so much!! im already glad you actually made one, i like the shape of yours, it sort of resembles the one in the picture but i like the figure of your better :) thanks again.
How did you push out the wall so much without it falling apart? You have very little clay on the bottom supporting the piece. I keep ending up with an egg shape. Any tips? Thanks!
make a cylinder. then put your hands on in as you would if you were pulling up the walls. bend the ends up your fingertips on the inside while supporting the outside and pushing out with your bent finger tips and you go up. and instead up pulling up, you pull in kind of a curve. best it can be explained through a comment haha
i have a korean pot in my home that is pretty much the same shape and size. never thought about how difficult it might be to make something like that before.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this... just found your channel and subbed. Man that looks so fun to do!! I wonder if I could use this method with polymer clay.. It gets very soft when baking, perhaps if I kept it a little thick.. hmmm. Now I want to do this!! lol
If there's a shop or store or something that you can access that has one of those mop buckets that you can pedal to spin, get that and then fix a plant pot base to it and voila! You have a wheel. That's what I'm doing!
actually it is because he pulls up so quickly, it causes unevenness in the thickness of the walls, but not so much as it compromises the structure of the vessel.
+Csenge Laszlo This comment was a while ago and I don't know if you'll get this or care, but based on the way he throws the clay down on the wheel in the beginning of the video, I'm going to say left-handed. Imagine trying to throw clay in the "center" of a wheel with your non-dominant hand.
Oh, I meant that he literally throws the clay down onto the wheel, trying to hit it in the center. But now that I really look at it, he wears his watch on his left hand. The non-dominant hand wears the watch for MOST people.
In another video he mentions that the clay he uses is sourced locally in the UK, and for whatever reason it can accept more water without losing plasticity. However, I agree with you. It is best to throw with less water and by using ribs more often for shaping instead of water.

Well done Dan, this type of pot is `far` more difficult than it looks to make.

Never saw anyone throw with a watch on, kind of funny....nice watch.
Love that closed in form!
Strong hands! I always have to get the clay too wet, or lock my elbows by my body and use my arms to apply pressure.
How do you keep pot from collapsing with the amount of water you use? Amazing
Hes awesome thats a pretty vase :)

Beautiful. I love the shape. How will you trim the bottom, or will you just leave it as it is?

I was surprised at how much water was used! ️💦
It turned out that it was clearly different from Japanese pottery (soil used), but I learned a lot 🙏😊
this is hard to do. You did great
I'm very curious to know if you have added anything to this clay for bringing this stability bcoz for me it generally collapses.
It's so very perfect

How you manage to make a belly in the pot? Its So cool! Could you make a video explaining how to do that?
How much clay did you use? How many pounds?
That is so amazing. Do you have a website?
Amazing.
your work inspires me... wish I had my own wheel
Jacob Cpeland its not that expensive, compared to a ps4 or xbox one

Can’t believe 82 people clicked thumbs down for this. Mad skills
actually it is because he pulls up so quickly, it causes unevenness in the thickness of the walls, but not so much as it compromises the structure of the vessel.
That feels good to watch hehehe
Thank you for your videos! I enjoy watching them. How many pounds was that to make that piece?
what kind of clay is it?? soo much water lol
Nice job...
do you have any artistic vases or bowls that you don't sell and you keep or put in a gallery?
Well-done.
makes me wanna try pottery now :)
Everytime I try to make one of these, the top begins to fall into the middle loosing the shape. What am I doing wrong? Is it too thin ?
Too wet...too thin ....too fast ....take your time ...good luck‼️
Looks alright :)
Hello guys. You can check other how to ceramic videos on this channel
Nice one
What kind of potters wheel is that? Kind of looks like a skutt
i never got it so round before collapsing
while wearing a wrist watch >>?

Good
@youdanxxx where are you from??

+Carsyn Travis
Lol, i use my non-dominant hand to center the clay...

The curve of your form could be so much cleaner if you were to use a rib instead of just pushing out with your finger. Otherwise, nice pot
I'm trying to learn, it's so hard
Copolymer I really want to learn pottery
Dang it I thought pottery didn't involve a y more work like moping lol😞
I want to do pottery
bravo potery wheel§
god for me

you
dan
xxx
just wondering?
the water noise made me go to the bathroom BADLY!!!!!
now cut it down the middle with a wire and see how much clay is at the bottom
Ok
Why do you use so much water? too much...
In another video he mentions that the clay he uses is sourced locally in the UK, and for whatever reason it can accept more water without losing plasticity. However, I agree with you. It is best to throw with less water and by using ribs more often for shaping instead of water.
