Wow. That brings back memories. We had an 80's cargo with the Dover engine that fired up just like that😅 She would rock you to sleep while she was cold. After she'd covered about 550000k we had start using ether to get fired up😂. No power steering either.
@sliderdriver1 amen !I remember the only power steering the old trucks had was a good load on the back and the and the front would get lite enough to turn the wheel ! Had the pleasure of macks brockways gmc and autocars that didt have power steering ! The 90s was a blast for me !!!
@@351peterbiltsmsrepair8 ive only ever driven 1 american truck but that was more modern. We have 2 kenworth 5 axle wreckers with boniface conversions. I dont know much about the heavy stuff to be honest but im sure the guy who runs them from our head office told me they run on CAT engines? They run at 36ton empty and are waaaaaayyyy to "numb" on the front for our roads😄. I think thats why we use cab overs instead of the bull noses like you guys have. THE STEED LIVESSSSS!!!!!!!!! Writing this comment out with that beautiful American muscle playing in the background. music to the ears right there. pretty much like listening to Slash play every one of his solos at once.
Use your compression release! Then give her some fuel to keep her from galloping. I had a BC 4, 400 Cummins in a 1950 model LTL Mack that I drove for years that did the same thing..
It's a 1693 TA Cat. 75 or older. No compression release. Turn key on... crank a while until the pipes smoke a bit indicating fuel. Then twist the switch the other way and light up the glow plugs. Crank...glow...crank.... sometimes on a real cold morning it seemed you were down to your last volt. If you gave it too much fuel when it first started it might shut down. But once she started she was good. My 75 Pete would blow smoke rings warming up. A fun ritual....

One of my favorite gens for petes 💯🔥❤️ I like the newer style aw well with the straight hood and the cat eye or Hawkeyes whatever tf you wanna call it. But the round eye ones are also sick I go back and forth between which one I like the best lol. But tbh they're very different trucks and the newer ones have a lot of bullshit that comes with all the tech and emissions bullshit.. idk wtf I'd do if I had to choose between them.. honestly I'd prob take the older girl just because it has a simplicity to it that's just more rugged and build sturdy. Plus the driving experience just feels more connected and in tune with the road.. it's like with my Subaru I love the newer ones and they're fast and fun but the new electronic power steering just feels disconnected from the wheels. My older Subaru feels so natural and connected to the road it feels like an extension of my body. It's like I can feel the car components all working together and when something is wrong I can just feel it and identify the problem easier. It just feels better when there's not a bunch of wires and a computer between every part and instead it's mechanically connected. It's like driving a watch vs a digital clock..

This truck would be perfect for the movie Maximum Overdrive.

Three starts per starter. Let rest after 8 seconds. Let the heat spread and the batteries recharge. A few more spins w/0 compression would help.
