    Thanks for sharing! I just love patchwork clothes but I have yet to make a jacket. The combination of fabrics, colours and patterns in your jacket is gorgeous! The jacket I have in mind to make is called the Zambeesi jacket and is created by an Australien textile artist (can’t remember her name just now) but if you Google it I think you’ll find it. Previously I’ve made several tunics, pinafores and skirts and I try to upcycle old textiles (cloths, curtains, clothes) in the patchworks.

    Hi I like your explanations about this patchwork jacket, I must have missed the original tv show. Thank you for your hard work of sorting the sewing of this jacket out. My grandson just suggested I make a waist coat for his dad, my son, the more colourful the better for him. Thank you again for your hard work and it’s nice to hear you’re in UK. You mentioned it was cold at the time. We, at the moment , nearly end of June 2024, it’s humid and hot. Best wishes for your future, Sibylle “The Midnight Owl”

    I’m making the jacket. It’s stalled at the moment. As I’m not a big fan of patchwork, I’ve discovered. I’m making my jacket longer. I don’t do cropped. Thanks for the heads up about the sleeves. I really need to get on a just finish this make.

    I love the jacket, I have to admit I completely fell out of love with that book after making the shell top for the exact reason you mention- The book asked you to put a teeny tiny one button sized button placket asking to to follow the special instructions on such & such page for placing the teeny tiny plackets between the outer & pull through all in one facing... The teeny tiny plackets were not mentioned even once!! Having sewn for a while I knew what I was doing (or at least how to fudge it! Lol) The bee starts on the 26th or 28th lovely.. I saw in on the GBSB Insta stories 😊 - I hope this year is better than last year though, not that I didn't enjoy it, it just felt a bit flat compared to previous series & a bit rushed, if you know what I mean?! Lol

    Oh! I absolutely loved watching this video. I have the same book, but I didn’t buy it until after the last series (which I adore!!), in preparation for my own sewing journey. I love your jacket…..it’s gorgeous! I love your colour choices and they really suit you. It was very interesting to hear your thoughts and opinions on certain points of the jacket project. After seeing yours, it really excites me to make my own.

    I am a quilter and would like to try a patchwork jacket. I have a couple of quilts that I could use instead of starting from scratch and wonder where I can find the pattern. Love your version.

      Thanks for watching, if you mean the hoodie with stars on it in my intro it is the Stella hoodie by Tilly and the buttons, or if you mean the red/blue flowery top in my sewing room video that is the Martha top by The Dressmakers Closet. Definitely go for it with the jacket, there is a few patterns for this type of jacket, if you search they should come up, happy sewing! 🙂

    Hi Helen. Your jacket is gorgeous. Can I ask how you find the fit? I made one too and it stands out from my body so much (particularly at the back) that it is unwearable as is. I am going to add a couple of tieclosures to the front.

    • @StitchRipRepeat
      @StitchRipRepeat  Год назад

      Thank you Jude, I do find it stands out at the back a bit but not enough to stop me wearing it. I am not sure how to adjust it so another one doesn’t do the same? Interesting to hear you had the same issue, I thought it was just me!

    • @StitchRipRepeat

      Thank you for your lovely comment, the fabrics are a pre quilted fabric I bought from Joanns when I lived int he states, and the main fabric is made up of 5” squares sewn together, these are all sorts of fabrics, mostly fat quarters from my stash. Hope you find the fabrics you are looking for and can make your own jacket ☺️❤️

    I'm just about to make this jacket. But my nervous! I have a question before I cut the squares.
    You mentioned that they are 5" squares. But the pattern in the book says 4" squares?
    Thanks for the great video

    • @StitchRipRepeat
      @StitchRipRepeat  Год назад +1

      That’s great! Hope you enjoy making yours, I only chose to do 5” because I liked the slightly larger squares to show off fabric but you can just go with 4” in the book, happy sewing and thanks for watching my video 😊❤️

    • @redxylophone
      @redxylophone Год назад

      I might do 5" too! The 4" template I made looks so small! But better for using up bits and bobs I suppose
