I was put in this asylum when I was 14 .I lived in Swansea I was scared to go to school because i was bullied so i ran away all the time. so they put me in here for 2 years :( It strange seeing it now
They don’t put you in a psychiatric hospital for running away from home! You don’t even use the correct term for it! I still go to cefen coed as an outpatient! What ward did they put you in for a inking away from home? My doctor is doctor reddie!
It’s sad that these huge buildings are not repurposed for housing for veterans and or the homeless. It’s the same here in the states, these buildings just sit and decay. Great explore Matt! Waiting for part 2, 3, 4 and 5 lol. Huge place!
We did have a near exact copy of this in my home village sold off to developers and now a large executive housing estate though one small part has been retained by a very large wall from the estate
Omg what a place. You only think these places exist in the relm of fiction until you see they are real. Intimidating, depressing to see but an amazing explore and video. Watching you try to control Jordan's shouting brough a great entertainment value also. Great stuff !
It’s very rare they repurpose these places and it’s a crying shame really cos they are beautiful buildings. They probably hold a lot of nasty memories for some people though, especially if they were abused there!
You both remind me of that British travel show . I don’t remember the name,..maybe? Traveling with my father? ,..Jack and Michael Whitethfll ,..Whitehall?? 😂
You must have worked in a health facility before Matt. Because you certainly know all the issues a health care worker has to go through when accused of anything lawful. Unfortunately when something happens to a health care worker, you are asked, WHAT COULD YOU HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY 🙄😤😕 Yeah, it sucks when you're on the opposite side of the coin. Loving this asylum series Matt. As a health care worker for 30 years I love watching explorer's explore abandoned health care facilities. Sometimes I wish they still had asylum's. Only for the really difficult (mentally and physically) patients. But with better care and resources then what asylum's back then had. It can be hard to care for unstable patients. Sometimes their chemical restraints do not work.
Hi Matt really enjoyed looking around the abandoned asylum but climbing up the water tower was scary l don't think l could have climbed all the way to the top looking forward to watch part 2 thanks for sharing 👍
It's annoying that they can't be more discrete as you risk getting stopped before you've had a chance to explore, Matt is wise and they should listen to him.
Fog horn with you again lol. Only messing. Wonder if you ever planned an overnight stay at one of these abandon places as avoiding security over night would be fun to watch. Especially with your groups banter ;)
Good grief! Look at all that beautiful brickwork - that place would have been torn down decades ago here in California - earthquakes don't ya know? Still beautiful though - hope it's preserved... What is that, Dr Who's magic cabinet? If you had to spend some time in an asylum, that place wouldn't be bad - intriguing architecture, beautiful natural setting, not too shabby... BTW, x-rays aren't for (unmutated) kids! ;*[}>
Perhaps you ought to leave Jordan in the car with a bottle of coke and a packet of crisps bless him🤣 But I suppose he adds to the tension of getting caught.
There's nothing quite like a good amplifier in long echoey corridors that might be occupied by security, is there? And what a good amplifier your friend Jordan is, LOL! It's great you try to educate him on how we treated people who didn't quite fit our many definitions of normal until - well, whenever we started to just turn most of them out onto the streets instead. eh... The thing is, mental hospitals had departments just like any other kind of hospital really - and in defence of the patients whom you say, nobody listened to (and correctly so in very many cases, I suspect); it wasn't so much the individuals that they were who came up with a lot of crap - usually it was just the symptoms of their illnesses that they'd either gone in to have treated, or had acquired as a result of being taken there against their wills to be inappropriately treated - the end result not always being that dissimilar... And your right, we got abused - even as teenagers in the 1980s. You see, the only difference nowadays is, they don't bother taking you in and paying people they call nurses to subject you to years of abuse anymore. They just leave you out there to fend for yourself, suggest you apply for this or that benefit - and then the DWP do it for them! Sooner or later, you end up on the streets, and then members of the public join in too...! It's cheaper you see - cutting out all these middle-men; and you know our Government prefers not to spend money on things like hospitals and public services... And once again, the result's more or less the same - treated like a piece of shit long enough, people start feeling like a piece of shit and eventually, they'll even start believing that's what they are...! They'll take it on board too - apologise for things that weren't their choice or fault and then maybe just slip away one day and float off to that big asylum in the sky... There's nothing huge or scary about that former asylum you explored there, guys - the one that we all live in now is far bigger and far, far, scarier...!! Take it from who knows a thing or two about these things.
Underrated comment mate. This world is a mental health hazard. A lot of people that would have been admitted at the time are people we now know to have conditions that can be managed outside of one of these hell holes. Things like aspergers or autism are things that might (if extreme enough) see you into one of these places. And as someone who has aspergers it does hit home. Although I'm lucky enough to be one of these people you wouldn't know had it unless I told you about it.
hi this place was bad it caused systemic abuse to people in 2002-2020 where the place was failing people who were treated by the gov health board. it causes abuse issues to happen to many people to go to UK mental hospitals the place was overhauled for being a failing and belongs in the past. nobody working in this hospital should of been proud of their job and they caused people psychological harm and failed in their job role. it is a bad hospital and they had a bad reputation and its foreclosed and the government were not happy about the mess made here its part of British history though and its not a good history the history of the madhouse got people admitted drugged up and all but cured. its a part of the 20th century horrors that happened.
A big fan of your work Matt, BUT that guy with the loud mouth is extremely annoying. My advice is to ditch him as it certainly put me off watching this episode... Total respect to you and the work you do.... 👍👌👍
@@zerofox7347 I respect that his a friend I do, but I counted a number of times that Matt had said to be quiet. You cannot be put in jeopardy to be caught, as Matt rightly said "voices travel" I may also point out that it's nothing to do in pleasing me, its a mute point. But looking at some other comments people seem to have the same view.... Have a great day... 👍
Plus Jordans a good mate of mine he's a nice lad don't like seeing people that don't know him at all other than what they see on videos slate him just because he is a bit hyper.
Oh because some one is just a bit different and way out we have just to dump them Shut up who are you to tell anyone what to do Matt is smart Jordan is his mate also Jordan puts on a show watch the live chat its like a different guy much more to him than meets the eye!!! a smart cookie so please shut your gonner :) and live and let live .

I was put in this asylum when I was 14 .I lived in Swansea I was scared to go to school because i was bullied so i ran away all the time. so they put me in here for 2 years :( It strange seeing it now
Yes I remember it well when it was all open. Had a friend that used to have regular stays in the locked ward .Think it might b 6 .

They don’t put you in a psychiatric hospital for running away from home! You don’t even use the correct term for it! I still go to cefen coed as an outpatient! What ward did they put you in for a inking away from home? My doctor is doctor reddie!
@@robedwrds3879 so how do you remember the place being open if it was your mate! And the coed is still open!
Matt: "Don't shout, don't shout, don't shout!"
Jordan: "Oh look, there's security... YIPPEE!"
📢
Can I screech and yell yet No it is best to be quiet.
@Beer ,..ikr? !! I love ❤️ Jordan ! He’s just off in his own world! I’m so glad that Matt & Jordan are friends.

Approach looks like an asbestos hell hole.
Lol at trying to get Jordan to be stealthy.

Ive heard about the crap that goes on. I once edited a documentary on sexual abuse in mental and physicaly disabled care system which opened my eyes.

It’s not an asylum
😂🤣Jordan keep your voice down..🤫lol How many videos do you ask him to keep his voice down 😂😂

wow , awesome mate , jeez what a waste of a beautiful property, gag Jordan 🤣🤣 loved it , greetings from New Zealand. 👍🏼😎
Fantastic explore. Thanks guys. 🎉🎉
Love it already. Great intro music
Are you going to put the Beno movie back up?
Very interesting walk around
Great video Matt
Excellent video Matt as per usual 👍👍
Fog horn with you again lol. Only messing. Wonder if you ever planned an overnight stay at one of these abandon places as avoiding security over night would be fun to watch. Especially with your groups banter ;)
How many times do you have to tell that guy to keep the noise down
Those patients room blinds were used to wake a patient with a flash light every ten miniuts through the night so as to punish them !!!
I bet you needed your beta blockers after that tower Matt, especially with Jordan there. Tell Jordan to stay off the red bull btw, lol.
Nice to see this finally posted matt shame I couldn't get in after u went.
“Your old friend’s going to be in one of these soon” 😂
Not if he doesn’t keep his voice down, They’ll hear him coming and lock the doors! 🤪
You have failed to report on the total success of woodwork therapy !!!
I used to take the Waste from there when I worked for Veolia always wondered what sort of view you would get from the Tower
They’ve blocked it up now and have extra security, I’m from Swansea some other urban explorers damaged the roof and windows 😢
It’s probably for the best considering it is still in use to some capacity
Absolutely brilliant lads risking your necks for us be careful guys
Super explore Matt. Such a waste of a building though when we have so many homeless people, but there's no money to renovate so a viscious circle. Xx
It’s part of a plan this place will be a housing estate after the upcoming recession is over 2030 ish
Hey Matt, do you know if that place held the “Criminally Insane” in those cells?
Growing up in Swansea I believe this was low security so I doubt it
@@rhodriedwardwilliams thank you 👍
greetings mate another great video
Love it, and Beface is amazing. Never change!

Looks like where they filmed session 9
Excellent explore 👍👊💯
Where is part 2 matt?
good explore matt must been like that for years lots money wasted its roiting away till pull it down
Yes it’s a crying shame . Word is it will all be knocked down eventually. Problem is it’s sitting on a price of prime land with fantastic views.
Interesting Matthew Thank you
Love to tag along on a explore 👍🏻
Liked the content from Margaret P
If this place had an up keep it would of been good for those Ukrainian refugees
Absolutely WOWsers 😱😘

Oh the legend has returned .
Looks like a hospital from a horror movie.
Cucumber 🥒 Rumba!
😆👍
Lovely, just the thing to go with toast and marmalade.
🙏 thank you for saving my mood .again 🙏❤️
Beface is a legend!
Why do you suppose the Victorian floors are stronger then modern day floors?🤔
Jeez that tower was high Man.
