had a similar experience when looking for an apartment, we were hoping at some point to get a dog so we checked places that either allowed dogs or didn't specify. So we go to a place that didn't say anything about dogs on their listing, and at first everything goes fine it looks like a nice place, and it's close to everything we want to be close to.
Then the lady who's walking us through suddenly says: no dogs. And the way she said it to was like there is no room for negotiation. Now where we live it technically isn't legal to bar someone from living in your apartment for owning a dog, so they really couldn't tell us no dogs, period. Anyway at that point we were like well that's unfortunate but we weren't really going to argue. So we go to leave and this guy who was there, (he seemed to be the one in charge) asked what we thought and we said the no dogs rule was a deal breaker.
So this guy tries to argue with us and says that if we have a dog it WILL bark constantly, like he's so certain that it's just impossible to train a dog not to bark. So then we bring up the fact that he can't really kick us out if we moved in and had a dog but he keeps going and says "this has nothing to do with your rights." which to be honest it kinda does but he brings up something about a contract, I think he was trying to say that if we sign his contract to live there the law no longer applies which is dead wrong.
Like do you think arguing is going to make us want to live here even more? I don't know but it seemed like he had a slight Russian accent and I don't want to sound prejudiced but he may not have had the most solid grasp on Canadian laws.

... immagine going to a Mc.D. to get hired and the manager starts talking to you like you were a "low life", while he'd be a "wealthy fellow" ! ... So, i was like : " i mean, it's Mc.D. ! ... i'm not trying to get hired to a 5 star Michelin Restaurant or something ! ... " The manager got red in face and said i'll never work there ! ... i answered : "Yeah ! BUT, i can visit, from time to time ! ... And give orders ! ... " Then i've got out, and went working in a shwarma place, where, surprisingly, i make more money than i would've done in Mc.D. Also, i "stole" two employers from there, and got them working with me, in shwarma place ! ... :-)
