This new RS3 is just insane the speed of 3.8 seconds probably faster as thats usually an understated quote is just insane. Its always going to be well built its a German Audi. It also looks mega.

@@StefABtv yeah it seemed to handle those twisty roads well.
Audi’s on-board timer, though a tad optimistic, has said 3.1s before. When I saw that I thought it was absolute rubbish but Joe Achilles got 3.4s on specialised timing gear on a cold, worn out airfield. It is absolutely insane, this thing.
@@bleedinell8405 I think the 3.1 was auditography and my theory is that he was going slightly downhill hahaha
May be built well, though probably best to sell while in warranty.

Looks well odd with the revs going towards you on the dash.
Also the gear changes when doing the launch sounded quite slow,almost like a traditional automatic,as opposed to a twin clutch setup.
the reason that this car is the first with the torque tric on the backwheels is because this is not a proper Quattro system like the RS4/5/6 but a halldex system (front wd with 'help' on the rear wheels when grip is needed
It looks so understated till you drive it haha, typical Audi, I love it

Great video Stef, you clearly had fun. I’m with you though - the price of new cars is insane now. I realise it’s all about lease deals but surely lists need to be more sensible ? Or is it a “jump on the bandwagon” thing as everything is damn expensive at the moment..
Not sure mate it’s a tough one but £65k will options will get you close to a 981 GT4 second hand. It’s a tough one but as you say the world of pcp and lease makes these cars attainable

Thanks for the review, looked like you really enjoyed the car and the roads mate! Carbon Black sportback does not get a black roof, it gets an additional carbon rear wing. The surround cameras on the Vorsprung are no longer a UK option and no red (or blue on the ceramics) callipers for UK cars. Red/Green interior rs styling not available in the UK either - big own goal by Audi UK there. I've got a tango red carbon black sport pack on order - added the comfort/sound pack to get B&O sound system, also added the rs dynamic pack to get mag dampers, ceramic brakes - also gets a top speed increase to 180mph. £62k. Arrives in April, hopefully!
Awesome video Stef! Don’t think many journalists would have the cohonies to throw the car into those corners at those speeds (Quattro and Torque Splitting notwithstanding). And what a noise it makes! Stef Blomquist strikes again…

Different cars. M3 has over 100bhp more and is heavier. Both will be great fun around those roads
And the m3 with decent spec will be at least £20k more.

You can chose from 3. The centre rev counter one is gone though

Went to see and test drive one, wicked car to drive but honestly didn’t give me that wow factor inside. Mercedes takes the win on giving that more premium feel and value of money to me. It’s a shame as I really want to buy the rs3 but just wish had options on the interior then having everything black on black and looking plastic. I’m stuck with which one to buy🤷🏽♂️
You answered your question already. Just get the Mercedes if you want premium everything. Audi is mainly for performance first, premium second imo.
if anything the 8Y interior is much better than the 8V interior.
5 pot or the usual 4 pot turbo is the key?

Different cars. Like them both so it’s a tough one. The m3 gives you true rear wheel drive if you want it so dynamically it gives you more options

I heard a friend of mine who own the latest RS6 saying that this will be the last 5 cylinder petrol engine on this RS3. Those cars are like old dinosaurs... They tend to disappear slowly from the earth, unfortunately for us, sports cars lovers ! I'm no AUDI specialist, I'm driving the latest Megane RS 300 EDC Trophy, yeah I know it's a french car blah blah blah :-)
Megane RS is a great car. Friend of mine has one. Yep shame if that’s true about the 5cyl
One of the reasons I've ordered one, it'll hold its value I think as it'll be the last 5cyl they make. I've ordered a carbon saloon in daytona grey.

I called my local Audi robber O I mean dealer... asked about the Sportback and he just laughed.. "we won't be seeing one till the end of the year and the markup will be ridiculous".
I would love this weapon as long as someone else pays the upcoming repairs.
Sadly Audi have plummeted in the 5 year reliability surveys which is around the age many of us plebs may afford one.
(Before you smash away at the keyboard go look at what is and is not covered in Audi warranty)
Don’t believe those surveys . I’ve filled in jd power survey years ago and the questions they ask were stupid and hardly anything about the car itself
@@stephenpeacock2627 I take your point and also my mates A5 lunched it's timing chain at 110,000 km last night. It's only just come out of the shop from other crappy issues. To say he's not happy is an understatement. The surveys from the Warranty Companies have no owner survey input.

Historically BMW grills were larger for example 1940’s motors. Off the modern generation Audi have had large grills for over a decade with BMW following suit. I think the placement of the numbers plate spoils the design of the modern BMW grill and front end. Though there is a degree of subjectivity there.
The new rev gage is just plain stupid. Especially because the revs "come to you"...as if the thing was installed backwards.
You have 2 more to choose from !

Great review Stef. Question… is it worth £20k more than the 300ish hp hot hatches though (128ti/i30N/GTI Clubsport/Golf R etc)? Is it justifiably more “fun” than those?
Straight line, yep it's better. Round corners where you carry speed more than accelerating, no, the golf R is equally as good. Saw a RUclips video where the R is faster round corners as its not as "front nose heavy". I.e. the front to back weight distribution is better on the Golf R. Add an APR stage 1 tune to the Golf R and you have equal speed to this.
Depends what you are after. The 5 cyl is tremendous and it’s a great car. This variant is truly great and less understeery which makes a big difference. Worth 20k more… maybe if you have the money but the old RS3 is also still great just not as Tail happy lol

I just wish BMW hadn't lost their way.
A brand new M140i to rival this would really be something.
As a serial BMW owner, I can't see me owning another one, but this RS3 is very appealing.
Is the engine sound comes from the speakers?
Some sound does but most is pure 5cyl that sounds epic

Tremendous car, but spec it and it's absurdly expensive. Get it a golf r,stage 1and it beats this
awesome car but waaaaaaay too expensive. Same goes for 45s. Tons of money for performance useless on public roads, unless on some sections of German highways.

@@StefABtv I live in Ger and the unrestricted sections have been getting shorter and shorter with radars strategically sprinkled to bust. In fact, I find myself not pushing even when unrestricted these days considering how expensive the gas is.
