Hi Richard, non boaters will never understand the pleasure that is felt when these problems are solved and things just are as they should be, it's all just making the boat your own. Best wishes Bob.

sadly I take little pleasure in fettling.... it hoovers up too much sailing time.

@@KeepTurningLeft If my boat was on the water I'd probably feel the same but mine is moored on its trailer in the drive.

you'll get that diesel squared away Dylan. glad i was able to catch a glimpse of the wheel in the pilot house. the last time i commented about the pilot house i wasn't sure afterward whether or not there was a wheel in there or not.

inside steering is pretty important in a wet country. The wheelhouse is also the best birding hide I have ever had. The engine has seen better days. The boat came with a magnificent collection of jubillee clips. Many elderly hoses and copper fuel pipes - as soon as I fix one dribble I find another appear. I have now installed a drip tray under the gearbox - with oil spill nappies in it so that I can intercept the oil before it gets to the bilges.

Enjoying following you on the Deben this year. We launch from Woodbridge in less than two weeks to take up our mooring at Felixstowe Ferry. Keep the vlogs going!!

we are very lucky to live on the second nicest east coast estuary - and the rocks is the finest anchorage on this coast I think. The Deben bar can be a bit of a bugger though

I love the turn of the tide.... I wake a bit as the boat turns then drift off to sleep again. The mornings are wonderful.

What's a mooring cost on the Deben ? Looks a nice area.

I think a boatyard one is £600 - a council one (longish waiting list) is about £120 a year plus £100 or so for annual lifting, inspection and maintenance. Dinghies are "parked" on the beach. It is a tough place to leave a dinghy as the y float every tide and in a wind spend two hours clonking into each othert.

I am slowly sorting the leaks - the old engine will eventually have to be replaced with an electric one - but that is an expensive proposition

You’re too lazy to fix it. 😝
