Good for you for getting out on the boat, a well-deserved break! I think all us horse peeps go through different seasons, sometimes all we do is work and maintain the property and other times we have more time to work on training. Either way we are still with our horses and spending time with them. I hope your “caretaker” days lessen and you can reap the benefits of all your hard work. Hang in there Brittany, there are a lot of us who enjoy your videos and the horses! hello from Idaho :-)

Lovely video. You live in a beautiful part of the world. I know it's easy to take things for granted when you are stuck in struggles and glad you made time just to enjoy life. I know you say you feel you have just been caretaking the horses but it really struck me that clip with Merlin all that work you have done with the mustangs and how much trust they have in you. I watched not so long ago the first videos of him and all the patience it took just to get a brief touch and there he was standing and letting you help him. I wouldn't underestimate that x

I’ve had that happen to me a few times: the sphincter valve at the top of my stomach stayed stubbornly closed when swallowing. _Very_ uncomfortable!

Wow. What a month all of us are having. If you guys seen my last comment, please forgive me I had a reaction to my new medication and didn’t know it. I seen it and was pretty embarrassed.
Anyways - so glad Merlin is good and you knew what to do and now I do also.
And I’m glad you had fun on the lake with your friends !
Again- so sorry for the messed up comment. I’m so embarrassed 🙈

@leanneadams2549 - I don't know what your last comment was but we all have our moments, our days, when we're just not at the top of our game - medication or not. Don't be so hard on yourself. Love and Blessings to you!

1100 bales!!!!! WHAT? Girl that alone deserved a vacation help or not. After 25 I'd be tapping out!!! Nothing resets the mind and body like a day or 2 on a lake especially if you get to just enjoy the silence at night. I'll bet Merlin was real thankful for the help getting that dislodged even if he couldn't tell you so!

I'm a widow in my late 60s taking care of 10 acres with horses, dogs, and chickens by myself. There are times when I need to get away and have tried several times to make trips to the ocean/beach where I can get recharged but it's either been hard to get someone to take care of my animals or as it is lately, it's hurricane season and raining every time I plan to go.
I have thought to just sell my animals, sell my property, and move to a little 1/2 acre with a small house where I won't have to deal with my body aching, constantly working, etc. But then I realize how unhappy I would be. Despite how tired I get, I also know this is the lifestyle I have chosen and lived for decades - land, animals - and that is what brings me peace. The healing the animals bring me, the healing the sight and sound of nature brings me. My little oasis away from the craziness of the world. It's then I change my whole attitude and start being thankful again for all that I have and that I am able to physically do what I do. Things could be so much worse! I believe that "attitude of gratitude" is something we should all try to live by daily; it puts a whole new perspective on ourselves, our life, basically everything.

Well said! I'm a 65 y.o. widow and had horses, dogs, llama, antique vehicles, barns, etc. but sold it all and am now sharing my brother and his wife's house which has been WAY out of my comfort zone ( pretty much prefer to be with my animals 😊! ). Since March I'm being treated for stage 4 cancer and I lament my beautiful life, barn, animal friends, and strength, I had not so long ago. But, the Lord has blessed me with full remission after only 3 mos of treatment but I'll never have the stamina to go back to "where I was". I'm hoping to find a farm here in Maine I can help out so I'm at least being useful, and can hug a horse again, now and then. God bless you gals - I pray He brings you blessings you'd never expect. I feel blessed I had the experiences I had! Now I pray I find my "new normal"... whatever that is - hahaha!! ❤🙏😊

Glad you had fun boating 🚢, and hanging out with your friends.
My 30 year old pony has choked a few times-- gobbling her grain- even when thoroughly soaked.
I have to really spread it out.
I've filled a syringe 💉 with water 💧 ( no needle!! ), and squirted that towards the back of her throat, and that seems to help.
    Hope he's all OK 👍.

"Reduced to caretaker of the horses."
Hmm, where have I heard this before if not from my own mouth? And ain't it the truth? Yep, you know who you serve when you've run out of sweat, and are dying of thirst, but you've finished scrubbing the horses' water tank to like new and it's filled with sparkling fresh cold water. I think I could write a full page of, "you know who you serve," examples about owning horses. 😄

Aww Merlin, you'd do well in my world knowing this about you 🐖..having seniors.. everything got super soaked 😂.. now even my new ten year old dog..soaked....just so used to it I forget most people do not soak 😂 I had one boarder than even soaking, I would have to put a small salt lick block in the middle to slow him down and it worked! Jaeger is hysterical in the pond and a very noble friend to Merlin..I saw how he checked on you guys when Merlin was not feeling his best.💕
Dropped my phone at 6:33...and saw the best still shot of Nathan..blow that one up it is so cool! 🌊
