ये चिमनी जो है वे फायरप्लेस के ऊपर होती है। ठंड में, रुम्सको गरम रखने के लिए, फायरप्लेस में लकडीयाॅं जलाते थे। उसका धुआँ निकलने के लिए, ऊपर चिमनियॉं बनायी होती थी। फायरप्लेस बेडरूम, हॉल में भी होती है।
ब्रिटिश कालीन इमारतों में तो ये, होती ही थी।

कैसा मंजर होगा जीम कौर्बेट के समय. बिल्कुल डरावना. निश्चित रूप में कार्बेट साहब साससी थें. घने जंगलो के बीच रहना सिर्फ एक बन्दूक के सहारे. बन्दूक रखने से लोग शिकारी नहीं बनते. साहस होना चाहिए जो जन्म के साथ होता है.
