My grandparents have the exact same pet peeve about pausing movies and talking. If you start talking during a movie, my Grandpa WILL pause it, without fail, and my Grandma hates it.
I couldnt love this more haha. About that personal space one, i CANNOT stand when people put food in my face to try it. My mom does this all the time even after ive told her i hate it.
Something that is recurring happens over and over again, possibly at regular intervals. In contrast, something that is reoccurring is simply happening again but not always repeatedly.

My top 5 pet peeves:
- Loud people, specially when they keep interrupting you screaming in a conversation.
- People who eat loudly, specially at the movies. I love popcorn, but I really thing it is distracting when you're at the cinema.
- People who post things that aren't true on social media
- Professors that choose to be as mean and as awful as possible to their students for no reason, just for the power involved in it. That can be transferred to anyone, actually. People who abuse their micropower really bother me.
- Tourists that are unaware of their surroundings or manners in general. For example, I recently went to a big destination for ecotourism in my country and I saw someone dumping a plastic bottle on the trail. Why?!?!?

I worked in a pub in the UK where they put parsley on Everything! I asked why and it turns out that most of the food they served was less than healthy and plus often had to sit under the warmer whilst the chef got other plates for the same table ready, so their answer was, that parsley sprinkled on top tricked the consumers eye in to thinking there was green stuff (and green = healthy) on the plate.
These are just the best videos. This one really got me laughing today.

I don't even know why but one of my biggest pet peeves is when I'm going to the movies with a group of people (family/friends) and they start eating the popcorn before the movie has started. They when the movie actually starts, there's barely any popcorn left to nibble on!!

I can totally relate to Nataly's pet peeves! As a student filmmaker, I usually have to cope with "Wow, you should make a short film about this!".
Also, spanish grammar. It's "la primera", not "la primer"!

People who sit behind the line at a left turn when the light is green, or stop with 20 feet in front of them at the line...
1. When people say "some" followed by a plural word. Like, "I'm going to the store to get SOME tangerines". Completely redundant. Plurality is established by the s at the end of the word.
My grandfather was guilty of this. When I was little I would spend summers with him in the mountains - he had an RV. One of his quirks was that he refused to grocery shop until he was completely out of all food which often resulted in the WORST meals imaginable. It would go something like this, "Tonight we're having baked potatoes with some french fried potatoes and for the main course some scalloped potatoes with some mashed potatoes and, for dessert, Shredded Wheat [in water]."
2. Spatula. What a dumb word.
3. The sound of horse hooves on cobblestone.
I wish you still did Mornings with Pomplamoose. I will be sad when I've watched them all five or twelve times.

Okay. I have one. What is it with movies and even some TV shows that are shot in such dim light that you can hardly make out what is going on most of the time? And the characters mope around like they suffer from chronic constipation and mutter their lines in low, gritty voices like they are depressed and angry and always on the edge of acting it out in violence? Maybe they have too much parsley in their diets?
I agree Jack, I pause sometimes to say something not because I think what I'm saying is important but out of courtesy of the person watching the movie. I don't want to talk over something important, so I pause...but I can tell it bugs people sometimes. hahaha

I hate it when people use the word "literally" wrong. Like "that, like, _literally_ broke my heart." or "It's _literally_ the most stupid thing I've ever seen." grrrrrrr
Oh man, that one about song keys is one I can get behind.
I've got perfect pitch, so whenever people are singing in the wrong key it's weirdly grating. I remember once being at a thing where two people were singing in different keys, while someone else played the piano in a third. I couldn't comprehend it.

+Mornings with Pomplamoose it's fascinating, my dad and brother have it too, but my mam is tone deaf. It's definitely a curse at times though, with the amount of RUclips videos that have music ever so slightly pitch shifted. Its imperceptible to most people, but it's like nails on a chalkboard to me!
One of my pet peeves is when people say "your guys's" or "you guys's". Sorry Jack! I also hear it on TV sometimes and all over youtube. You and your are both singular and plural. Hey Mike I like your bike. Hey fans I like your comments.
One of my pet peeves is people who snore. Like I know you can't help it but it really, really, really bugs me.

My pet peeve is when a smarty-panted pedant complains about how this phrase is now commonly used to mean "something that needs to be asked". The irony is, if you ask them what's wrong with the currently accepted definition, they can't make a case without begging the question.
Nat - For me it's when people say "irregardless" OMG! It's just regardless. Although I'll let them know. I'm likely not as nice as you.

My pet peeve is the Wilhelm Scream. I am enjoying a movie, immersed in the experience, then so sound designer thinks it's funny to drop the Wilhelm Scream. Ruined my focus and and broke my suspension of disbelief.
DUDE. So great to hear someone say that. It TAKES ME OUT OF THE STORY at this point. It's not funny anymore. It's just distracting!

Parsley is a breath freshener. you're supposed to eat it after the meal to freshen up.
A few of mine are mispronounced foreign words like one of the worst offenders "karaoke". "okee" I can almost understand but where are you getting "carry" from?? One small one. There is no S in the word "emoji" No matter how many emoji you're referring to, it's a Japanese word and there are no plural S's in Japanese.
Walking slowly is annoying but even worse when people just stop dead, right in front of you. And lots of times, like in a busy mall you can't easily walk around them. The chewing thing drives me nuts too. Both my dad and best friend do it and I can hear them from across the room!
Oh Another commenter just reminded me of one. Being interrupted when I'm telling a story! It happens all the time and then byt he time there's a break I can't go back to it because the conversation has already moved on to another topic and I'd look like a crazy obsessed person. Geez I should make a vidoe on these!
I think people who drive slowly are worse than people who walk slowly. You can't always pass someone who's driving slowly! At least go the speed limit, dammit!

One of my pet peeves are (is? not a native speaker) strong smells. Especially in places where they shouldn't be. For example when I'm in the movie theatre and someone eats a f*kng poutine. like come on dude!

When I try to talk to my wife during a movie SHE'LL pause the movie. Not to necessarily listen to me, but to prove a point that she's annoyed by me and doesn't want my talking to interfere with her movie watching. So I guess we're a hybrid of you two.

I disagree about parsley though. I seem to recall you don't like balsamic vinegar much either? Maybe it's all the Italian cuisine I had growing up but parsley does have a purpose :)

If you take the "official" list and Natalie's top 5, you can see what I've been saying for a long time. Pet Peeves CAN'T BE REAL CONCERNS. It must be silly, vain things, that no one should care that much about it, but it really bothers you.
And one of my Pet Peeves is exactly that... people using words in the wrong way, because they don't really grasp the real concept of that word. xD
