    Didn't realize how bad I needed this today. In a world where things seem more and more impossible to fix; Dustin shows us what real perseverance looks like. Doesn't matter if its locked up, missing parts or been snuffed out...the man will not stop until its alive again. That's making the impossible; possible.
    Great life lessons here. This man is a national treasure.

    Dustin's just a nice young man with an amazingly pleasant demeanor who entertains us all with his ingenuity, perseverance, and knowledge in getting old engines to run--no matter how long they've set accumullating rust and rats. And then someone comes along who dumps flour all over his project whether through stupidity, jealousy, mean-spiritedness, or just having more than a few loose screws. God bless you Dustin for just moving on and not letting it get to you. We respect you for it, and you make the world a better place for being in it. They don't!

    ahh, man... time for some cheap Amazon trail cameras or something. That flour mess made me mad from hundreds of miles away. If they are willing to do THAT then you have to assume they are probably not above other forms or sabotage - things that may endanger you. It would be cheap insurance Dustin.

      Aye. I reckon even Ford EcoBoost will easily give you over 48k miles with normal maintenance, unless your foot on the gas pedal is unreasonably heavy for the poor engine.

    • @Robbie-sk6vc
      @Robbie-sk6vc 3 месяца назад

      Yep, the "good old days" weren't always so good! Engines have more power today, with less maintenance, and a much longer lifespan!(in a similar size)

    • @ditherdather
      @ditherdather 3 месяца назад +1

      @@Robbie-sk6vc Very true. The average 4 cyclinder today puts out more power than most of the 8 cyclinders back then. When I say "back in the day", I'm in no way suggesting they were better by any metric, other than they were arguably more simple. Anyone who was mechanically inclined could probably service one, whereas todays engines are far more complex and nuanced.

    I wish you would've recorded cleaning out the oil drain plug hole, all that crud coming out would've been satisfying to watch.

    Hats off for not focussing on who did it but focus on your project. Respect.
    And also: I am a flathead fan now. Love the sound of these engines. Will be hard to find one of these over here in Europe

    I agree with alot of these comments saying longer video. I could have watched this as an uncut video. Especially watching the chunky oil come out.

      @@jenningsmotorsports7554 you have one of those attitudes that would entice people to watch for hours and hours at a time. It's relaxing and enjoyable and I look forward to the next video sir! Don't ever change, this is what true America is all about!!

      @@jenningsmotorsports7554 You need to make some merch. A t-shirt with the different "packages," like Ratticus Giganticus, would be amazing.

    Nice job getting the old girl running. I had my doubts when you had the stuck and broken valves, but you did it!

    I'd like to see you stick with one of these one day. It's cool to get 'em started, but why not continue on with one? Make a whole series of you not just getting it running off of ether, but going further and doing a full restoration. Even if it's a discount restoration.

    Love your videos, but this 48 Ford reminds me of the truck on roadkill that they call stubby Bob, it's pretty awesome that you got it running again and just keep doing what you're doing. Forget all the haters.....much love from Central Texas.

    I don't know much about cars, but I can change the wheels, check the oil level, change light bulbs, and fill up the windshield washer fluid. I find this really interesting!
