- The Honda Civic Type R, number FD2, was launched in 2007. In the same year, a European version of the Civic Type R, numbered FN2, was also launched. There were two Civic Type Rs in the same year, but if you want to hang the title of JDM, it must be FD2 produced in Japan and only sold in Japan. Until production was discontinued in 2010, the Civic Type R FD2 (another common name is FD2 type R) only produced more than 10,000 units. Since then, Honda's Civic Type R has not been sold only in Japan, and the FD2 Type R is also Honda's last Civic Type R with a naturally aspirated engine. It uses a 2,000c.c. four-cylinder K20A engine, equipped with a Honda i-VTEC system, which produces 225 hp at 8,000rpm. It is a classic work of naturally aspirated high-revving engines. On the streets of Hong Kong, the FD2 Type R is often seen. Edmond and Lung Sir have always been curious about this car. Why does the rear of the Civic Type R FD2 always bounce when driving, and the suspension is really so hard? Is the FD2 Type R a tough JDM to drive? This episode finally has the answer.

I’m very lucky to own, drive and enjoy a FD2 for 3 years and 80.000 kilometres. It was my daily drive and i also drove on racetracks like the Nürburgring in Germany and Circuit Zolder in Belgium. Brilliant car!
But the FD2 needs a few modifications. At first, change the suspension. I went for the Tein Flex Z, the ride went from very stiff and bumpy to comfortable without losing any control.
The car also needs some engine modifications. Like a catback, header, airduct and retune. I had a Spoon exhaust, Supercircuit header, Spoon trottle body, Toda airduct, Spoon air filter and a retune. With these modifications you can beat a Audi S5, BMW 440 and slightly tuned Subaru Impreza’s.
I miss the FD2 everyday.

fd2真係我最鍾意嘅一部車 實用又得 飛又得. vtec 帶俾你既感覺真係難以形容 著tec個下真係熱血沸騰 會由心笑返出嚟. 但可惜 香港地玩車衰過做賊😞太落後.揸得type r 就預左係驗車場常客… 逼於無奈之下唯有放棄心愛既fd2 💔 睇到你地玩得咁開心 我都好興奮

I like them all and for me Type R = racecar for the road.
I am fortunate to alternate between early NA type R ( 1999 DC2 ) and later models ( DC5, FD2 ) and they are all different but all have racecar quality engines from the factory with very high volumetric efficiency straight out of the box with plenty of scope for further tuning. Same goes with chassis tuning with a large amount of aftermarket parts available from many different manufacturers to suit different needs and budgets.
I just bought a FD2 a couple day ago. What do you prefer between dc2 DC5 and fd2? Fd2 is a beast as you say in your comment.
@@Monsters-bs1vm DC2 for old school B series vtec strong kick feel, as the 1800cc engine has very little torque down low and has no variable cam timing like the K series vtc system so post vtec feels like a totally different car, the car is light at 1113kg for ours on racing scales with 1/3 tank worth of fuel. DC5 is a lot faster, same 2570mm wheelbase as DC2. With an extra gear ratio and much more flexible and flatter torque curve it's in another league stock for stock, but the stream platform really lets it down with cheap, cost and space saving designs for the front suspension and steering rack. Also the gear linkage system is horrid, with a lot of built in slop and very easy to jam on the linkage when you shift from 4th to 5th gear if you exert too much force to the right.
FD2 is a much longer car with a 2700mm wheelbase, same as a e36 bmw sedan. It has a very rigid body by 2007 Honda standards, helped by the very far forward a pillar base where it meets the short bonnet similar to ODC and Jazz designs. With the long A pillars and its angle I find they obstruct my view of vision ( for frontal cross traffic ) a lot more than I would like. Every time I get back into the FD2 be it from eg, dc2 or fl5 I need to be mindful of that and get used to that quickly again.
The FD2 might feel a bit cumbersome against a DC5 but it feels much skinnier compared to a fl5, it's much easier to place the car on narrow roads and roundabouts in suburban streets here in Australia for us. The FL5 with its 1890mm track kills its urban agility much more the 35mm wheelbase increase over the FD2.

同DC5,EP3,FD2差唔時期豐田都出左架Runx,應該都係最後一代仲可以百厭下既Corolla, 有機會都介紹下就好啦
(講多小小)其實呢代FD2真係嗰個80-00年代JDM嘅頂峰同末落嘅位黎。大家依家都覺得快就係好,快就係hot hatch。當所有車廠都focus喺絕對速度嘅時候,反而會淡忘咗低速就俾到特別嘅感覺你嘅車。
本田都係架,雖然你話依家嘅FK8,新嘅NC NSX都係好快,都係落場可以好快嘅車,但佢冇咗本田嗰種最出名嘅VTEC味道,冇咗嗰種類似'Turbo lag'嘅NA著tec感覺,其實就變咗同其實一樣係「死快」嘅車差唔多。大家都同化咗,反而冇以前慢d但有味道啲嘅車咁好玩。
睇下Edmond揸FK8同揸FD2,EK9,甚至NA2R嗰個笑容嘅差別就知邊架有JDM味啲,邊架有本田味啲啦🤤

I am from Toronto so I have never seen an FD2 here, the closest car would be an FG2 which comes with K20Z making 197@7800. Very nice video though, definitely looking forward to seeing more Hondas on the channel.

S2000係好車,要揸唔難 要揸到快一定唔易,一定要有術,熟架車皮性.如果唔係7千零就收腳 無威力可言..懸掛設定尤其重要,重點頭尾軚令尺吋.但講真F20C.改裝潛力其實唔夠K20a噤平衡
@@wingolai4249 師兄講得好通透,其實好懷念嗰個車考驗人嘅年代,依家乜都俾電腦搞曬,冇咗最原始要征服車嗰種樂趣。S2000尤其,AP2都還好,AP1最前期真係好難揸得好,一唔小心就好易打白鴨轉。但揸得好,征服到佢嗰種感覺,真係好正!
