    Thanks for another great review. It checks all the boxes except one that’s a deal breaker. The lack of a 25-30 amp DC circuit for powering ham radios. I hate having to convert DC to AC and back to DC with an external DC power supply.

    Hi David,
    That's a nice setup with the way those units connect to one another. No cables, just stack them and tighten them together. It's also nice that you can turn off the R Drive in the app. Yes, maybe in the future they could incorporate an RV hook up or add an XT60 output to the unit. These Segway power stations also offer a very good introductory price.
    Thank you for explaining how you hooked up your 4 panel array to this unit to keep its' total voltage under the 60 volt limit. It would have been nice to see the Segway offer more solar voltage input so you could have ran your setup in series also but if it can get close to the 800 watts into the station, that's not bad with one or two batteries hooked up to the main unit. I see some stations, like the Allpowers R2500 offer 1000 watt solar input and a whopping 150 volts of input. It may put a bigger strain on the batteries but it's nice to have the option and you can setup your solar array in many different configurations.
    I want to thank you once again, David, for making these in depth videos on these power stations and these solar set ups, I have learned so much watching your channel. I look forward to see what you have in store for the future, now that you have some space to expand your projects. Stay safe and keep warm, it's going to get chilly next week. Oh,...and Happy Halloween!
    Steve.

    Great to see they have improved the firmware to get more out of the batteries and have hit the 80% mark and above. Really like this unit and would seriously consider it if I was in the market. I do wish their connection locks were not screws but something you could do in a tool-free manner, with captive connectors so there was no chance of dropping or losing a screw. But that is minor and not a deal breaker. Great unit.

    Excellent video; this unit is going on my contenders list of power stations. Wireless charging is something that is not important to me especially since I have a usb connection wireless pad. Years ago I looked at power station units with similar expansion units and I thought they would be the way of the future instead of those bulky cables which makes this unit a top contender when you consider all it has to offer.

    Nicely done David, I would have liked to see all sides of the unit to see the PV input and cooling fan configuration. I also question why companies continue to limit PV input voltage and or amperage to 60 volts and usually 10 amps ( I did not see what the amps were for this unit) as the configuration is tough to max out their claimed input wattage.
    But, another option for sure and unique using the stackable expansion batteries. Thank you!

    As usual a great informative video and breakdown of the power banks. It blows the Flex 1500 by Inergy out of the water in every aspect. I use power banks with 12V accessories only when camping and this design unit would benefit from the addition of a 12V DC only inverter like the Flex 1500 as an option. If Segway does this I would buy it immediately. By the way do you know if the A/C plugs are 15 or 20 amp output? I could not find it in the website. Again great video.

    1) when has expanded battery, does it charge both batteries at same time or does it charge one before the other?
    2) same question for discharge
    3) am I guessing correctly that batteries cannot be charged independently?

    • @ReeWrayOutdoors
      @ReeWrayOutdoors  Год назад +2

      I think what it's doing, since the battery modules must be connecting in parallel, is auto-balancing them (ie bringing them to an equalized state-of-charge) as soon as they're connected...which can take a little time. And during charging/discharging it is pulling from all connected batteries simultaneously. On question 3), you are correct - there's no abiility to charge the battery modules independently. They're definitely not intended to be used without the main unit, having exposed contacts on the top and bottom of the module.

    They should put some effort into a dedicated 240 Volt version with it's sole or primary mission to be capable of charging electric car batterys more efficiently and faster
    than customers being asked to install a 2500.00 level 2 charging station, which is often the going price still for people who own electric cars with no garage outlet option,
    or who want to get an electric car but have to factor in the expense and hassle of 240 Volt charging, which many homes don't have and hence the 2500.00 added expense
    to place a level 2 charging station outside the home. (in other words an untapped market invovling millions of potential new customers for the right portable power station)

      I currently have the E600LFP ( my first purchase) AND the E2000LFP. I would personally go with Pecron, the *NEW* 1500 they just came out with has a few more bells and whistles, the APP, the better expansion batteries and the price. I bought my 2000LFP for the same price as the NEW 1500LFP knowing I don't need the bells and whistles, I wanted all the power and this thing did not disappoint. I also have a Pecron 330W Solar panel and a 120W Elacaenta Solar panel (bought it after watching ReeWrays product review, he couldn't pronounce elacaenta 🤣) Anyways, both panels work perfectly with the Pecrons. @@Fishcracker23

    • @itsjustmetoday
      @itsjustmetoday Год назад

      Pecron is inferior on basis of battery technology. Lithium ion will lose 20% of capacity after 1,000 discharge cycles.
      LiFePO4 battery technology it takes 4,000 discharge cycles to lose 20% capacity. This is true for any power station using the better battery.

    • @ReeWrayOutdoors

      They did not, actually. In fact, I had NO contract with Segway (probably because we did not have a paid arrangement). I WILL say (as I think I stated in the video) that they wanted to make sure that the test results accurately reflected their production-ready power station. My original video testing was done with a pre-production unit and still performed quite well, but SLIGHTLY below average on the DC capacity test. So they simply asked me to hold the video until they could send me a production unit to re-test with. Seemed like a reasonable request, and indeed, after re-testing with the production unit, I did get measurably better DC capacity results, so I amended the original content to reflect that. There was no hostility or threats of any kind. And, btw, this is a big reason why I don't do paid reviews....and also why I prefer to work directly with the brand instead of through a promotion agency (which was the case with the RUclipsr video this is all in regards to).

People need to see the comparison between videos to see how much Segway has improved the product from pre-production to production and the amount of effort they are willing to put into resolving issues. I never saw your original video, but I suspect there were things that needed to be resolved or your wouldn't have pulled it down. As soon as I heard you say you took the original video down I started questioning the information in your video and started looking for other reviews from reviewers I feel are more independent. • @ReeWrayOutdoors
      @ReeWrayOutdoors  Год назад +8

      I appreciate your perspective and feedback. For the record, Segway didn't demand that I take it down (I don't agree to those kinds of terms)...but they felt they'd made sufficient improvements to the 'released' version of the product in comparision to the pre-release version I'd originally used that the first video wasn't an accurate representation of the released product. I actually didn't delete the original video...just unlisted it...because I wanted to see if the released version actually did produce different test results. If it didn't, my intention was to re-list the original video. But as it turned out, the newest revisition did show some modest improvements, so I reproduced the follow-up video to reflect that in hopes of accurately representing the current state of the product. And truth be told, the pre-release performance was actually pretty good aside from a slight underperformance on the DC usable capacity test...which they've improved in the new version.
