  • Nowruz, which translates to "new day," is a spring festival celebrated by people of various ethnicities and religions, particularly in Iran, Central Asia, and the Caucasus. It marks the beginning of the Persian new year and the first day of spring, which falls on the vernal equinox. Nowruz typically lasts for 13 days and is a time for renewal, spring cleaning, and visiting family and friends.
One of the most important aspects of Nowruz is the creation of a Haft-Seen table, which includes seven symbolic items that represent life, health, wealth, love, fertility, and more. These items typically include Sabzeh (wheat, barley or lentil sprouts grown in a dish), Seeb (apple), Serke (vinegar), Samanu (sweet pudding), Senjed (sweet dry fruit of the lotus tree), Somagh (sumac), and Seer (garlic).
On the 13th day of Nowruz, people often head outdoors for Sizdah Bedar, a day of picnicking and enjoying nature. It is believed that spending time outdoors on this day will bring good luck and ward off bad luck for the year ahead.
