Andy, thank you for creating this beautiful resting place for my brother Sean. My family and I truly appreciate all the thought, care and skill that went into this most special piece. The way that you treated my parents throughout the entire process speaks volumes about you, not only as a craftsman and business owner, but as a man. Again, thank you.
Hey Ryan, congrats on becoming a father!! Best thing in the world! I really appreciate the comment and was honored to build it. I've learned a lot about Sean from your parents and I feel we would have been good friends. I grew up on the soccer field and it sounds like he was a very talented soccer player. I have a great amount of respect for your parents, they're good people.
I am your first subscriber
Andy, thank you for doing such an outstanding job on the urn for Sean. It is absolutely beautiful. I am Sean's aunt and I thought the world of him. He has a very special place in my heart. I want to thank you for doing such a great job for him and his family, so he can rest in peace
You're very welcome and thank you for the comment! I've gotten to learn a lot about Sean from his parents and I have a great amount of respect for them. I was honored to build this for them.
Andy Rawls' builds are my favorite on YT to watch b/c it's so relaxing just having the build process speak for itself. A beautiful urn and tribute to the family and hope they are doing well.
Beautiful urn, Andy. A really great tribute for a loved one and quite an honor to be chosen as the maker. Take care.

Wow. I am crying 😢 Thank you for such a beautiful resting box for my nephew. You would have loved Sean he had a beautiful soul, just like you. My sister and brother in law are forever grateful for the awesome job you did making this very special Urn. Auntie T (That’s what’s Sean called me)
Very nice Andy, I can't imagine the pressure or honor associated with building that piece.
Wow! That is one beautiful box. The lid fit on to the box is also brilliant. The whole thing just wow!
Great to see all the work by hand as well as machine. There is something about working with well tuned hand tools that brings great satisfaction and pride to a project.
Andy, we were honored to work with you on what is the final resting place for our son who was lost way too early. You are an amazing person and craftsman. You were so respectful of my wife and I throughout this sensitive and emotional time. We sincerely appreciated your professionalism and the empathy you displayed. You certainly put all of your heart and soul into this project and it shows in the beauty of the final piece. Thank you for your great skills and talents and most of all your values and personal characteristics.
Thanks for the comment Dan! I was telling my wife the other day how I felt God had placed us together for this project and I'll remember it for the rest of my life. I was honored to do it and I consider you and Donna good friends.
What a beautiful urn box, what an honor that they wanted to you make it for them, that shows you that you are a very good craftsman.
The family certainly chose the right person to make this important piece. As always, your skills are reflected in this awesome result. Thanks for sharing this build.
Thank you for the kind words!
Exceptional piece Andy. Have a very happy holiday, keep well to you and your family. From Toronto Canada.
A beautiful build made with respect.
Very nice, i really liked the way you broke that square piece of wood bit by bit for that finish.
Dude...masterfully done. Beautiful work!
Why would someone put thumbs down it don’t make any sense to me ,what a beautiful urn and well made,
Someone who can never achieve that level of skill in woodworking probably.
Very nice! I love the craftsmanship of the piece. Awesome work.
Once again, beautiful craftsmanship. Cheers!
Beautiful Andy...what a great memorial
Really amazing work, Andy! Fantastic work!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Dust collector is full 😂😂. Beautiful piece though andy.
Beautiful Remembrance box. Wish i had know you back when we lost our son.
Sorry to hear about your son, a good friend of mine passed away, we grew up together, the pain it caused his family was great.
I miss him very much, because when life got hard, he was there to help me through it.
@@randywoodworth5990 thank you
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Seeing u cut the miters on a table saw is interesting. I cut mine on a copsaw but I really struggle for them to come out perfect. If I don’t have dominos or a kreg jig what’s the suggestion?
Beautiful forever box.
God bless the family receiving this urn. Why would anyone thumb down this video?
Hi Andy that's quite a work out
Beautiful piece, great job.
Beautiful piece!
Beautiful work! 🙌🏻
Beautiful, well done!
Would love to see some native Texas hardwoods like live oak and osage being used for projects in the shop! I wonder how the equipment fairs against them. Maybe even a processing video? Like if you agree!
They're both very hard!
Beautiful work as always.
Absolutely beautiful!!
Beautiful work.
Aqsome well done looks incredible i can just feel the tension through the build lol I know the stress of a one off complex piece one mistake could meen start again lol
Nice work, wondering if you could have used the cnc for the profile?
Gorgeous urn!
Nice work sir please keep it up
beautiful, thanks for sharing.
Beautiful!
Beautiful work. What finish did you use on that? The matte finish was perfect
My guess is boiled linseed oil based on the yellow color and how liberal he was with it
Danish Oil
My mother was a Foley and her father immigrated from Ireland to western Canada.
What was your hourly rate, and how much time did it take to complete?
Andy when you used your block plane on the end grain at 11:25 how did you stop it from tearing out?
My guess is a really sharp blade and light passes haha.
Very sharp blade and a skewed cut
what are those router bits called? Never seen that profile before. Awesome piece.
I have never seen you do a raise the grain before the final sanding. Is that something that you do behind the scenes or you just do not do it at all?
I don't raise the grain but I do sand between coats. I was actually trained as an apprentice to raise the grain but at some point I stopped because I couldn't see the advantage to it.
@@AndyRawls was trained to raise grain in high school 50 years ago, we also wet sanded between coats of varnish, usually 10 or so coats, then we hand rubbed with linseed oil and pumice, was smooth as glass when done. I still have the night stand I built out of black walnut.
Beautiful
Awesome job Andy well done, 👍👍🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪☘️
Parabéns
Hi. AR Your Video is nice 👍👍👏
Very beautiful
As usual as very well built item.
Good video
👍
Was that boiled linseed oil?
Danish oil
The best
bro, you should guitar an acoustic guitar!!!
Hey congrats on passing 500k!
:O is that a new drill press I see 👀👀👀
So...how many walnuts will it hold?
Love you videos!
Edit: forgot to say first lol
Not a bot btw
Your LLC is public information. I get all kinds of B.S. all the time
looks good but putting the spring snakes in there was a cruel prank
Why would this be a one off? I'm sure s simpler design would be desired as well. I was recently to a memorial and the box was simple but personal from it's appearance and I know family didn't make it.
As said at the beginning the family came to him with the design. Its a one off because its a personal piece to the family. He's not going to start batching out 100 of these to sell
I don't remember saying anything about batching out anything, let alone the one he completed. But a personalized and simpler design would be nice. @@sebastiantreloar6045Why speak for him?
