- How do anesthesiologists wake you up from anesthesia after surgery? 👀
Listen to cardiac anesthesiologist Dr. Jeans M. Santana explain the process of waking patients up from different types of anesthesia.
They all like, "you need to wake up now", and I'm all like, "this the best sleep I've had in years, leave me TF alone!"
Thank you for this info because I always wonder how they wake me up❤❤❤
You're welcome!

@@jeanssantanaI have an upcoming surgery for salpingectomy and I am extremely scared of general anesthesia..what if I don't wake up 😢
@@payelchakraborty2023 what happened bro does your surgery gone well
You’re welcome!
THANKS FOR EXPLAING
Thanks you
You're welcome!
I got my wisdom teeth out today with sedation anesthesia, and lemme tell you, I was shaking really badly because of anxiety, and the nurses were so nice about it. The last thing I remember before being put under was the nurse gently holding my head and jaw still because of how badly I was shaking 🥺
When I woke up after my first surgery which lasted for 9 1/2 hours, I woke up screaming in pain. The recovery room nurse gave me a shot of morphine and I didn't wake up again until I had this doctor pounding on my chest and back trying to get me ro cough. She said I was 10 minutes away from being put on a respirator.
Yeah recovery took 22 days w 14 in ICU.
It is unfortunate you had this experience. Pain management can be difficult for us but it is not impossible. We continue to work very hard to control pain and improve pain management options.
They declined the morphine shot for me because02 was 89, so it was extreme pain for 5hrs. Still having a difficult couple days even with mods.
Thanks for the info Dr
You're extremely handsome Doctor! Kerp talking ❤
Thanks I have to get surgery for hernia next Tuesday and I was curious
I’m only 12 btw
@TheDuck05 You shouldn't have a hernia, especially at that age. They're putting an object pr graft in your body that will not last. The percedure is malpractice, or at least will be in the future. There are ways to heal that naturally
Can you talk about anesthesia when its used without opioids?
I am having hip replacement surgery this Tuesday never had general anesthesia. I am petrified. I won’t wake up.
I want to know why is it that most hospitals only have one anesthesiologist on call that does not make sense to me. There should be a few for each branch of the medical profession like 24 obstetrics 24 Cardiology however but this one anesthesiology thing for each sector is ridiculous
I understand your frustration. Unfortunately, our healthcare system is tremendously understaffed. Furthermore, different hospitals have different staffing models. And they are staffed best, with many anesthesia providers, during the work day, specifically on weekdays. Overnight and on weekends, staffing is typically limited to emergency cases only. I hope my response brings you some clarity on the issue.
It’s to reduce the likely hood of any drugs illegally leaving the premises.
I just had surgery and they said when I woke up I was swinging I felt so bad
That may be true except don't know If the doctors or they say anything
I’m just curious after 5 surgeries the nurse is always there I suddenly hear “wake up” and I’m suddenly woke up. Curious if they inject something in me.
