Japan has some of the finest jazz musicians in the world - primarily women in their 20s and very early thirties. This is Miku Yonezawa along with drummer Senri Kawaguchi (Kawaguchi is 21 in this video and Yonezwa 27). They play in a larger ensemble Jazz Avengers which is composed of top female jazz musicians in their 20s and anchored by Kawaguchi.

Another fine tune by Tokyo Groove Jiyoshi, with new bassist Rina: ruclips.net/video/gyEvuMZYzR8/видео.html
And to round it out. Teenage prodigy Luna Watanabe, performing deside her mentor: ruclips.net/video/CoNNkq_hWTQ/видео.html

I love this band. A really great video/tune also by this Band is called "Hunter" a live performance! I really haven't always been impressed with female sax player's ,but this chick would definitely get Mr. Coltrane smiling. BIG TIME! Recommendations for tunes? check out Tower of Power 's"Sparkling in the Sand",,also "Heart is a Melody" by Pharaoh Saunders. Also, "I've known Rivers," live at Montreauxl Jazz festival, I think in 1973 0r 1974, by Gary Bartz, based on the poem by Lanston Hughes, Last but not least, also from same Montreaux Jazz festival , Les McCann and sax player Eddie Harris with the song, "Compared to what?" Glad you like T K G Jyoshi!

I heard them play about 2 or 3 years ago and they do have guys playing also with backup singers. First time I heard them I said I have to hit social media and spread the word. I think they're like a lab band similar to the North Texas University lab band which have been in existence since the 60's. Wait till you hear Juna Serita slap bass... It's not hard to just go to the internet

    Those chick's are THE TRUTH!!
I've been following them for the last 2 years
They play Funk, Jazz, Blues & Rock
Juna the bass player is like the female Prince..she now plays sax, drums, keyboards , guitar, produces & writes..she even came over to the States & recorded an album a few months ago

My recommendation to you,Dollar, is to play Tokyo Groove Jyoshi Mix On RUclips and get lost in the magic of this amazing band. I hope by now you’ve also seen guest musician Shinobu on the Shamisen play with them. Crazy good

Juna must listens …the Tiny Voice…No One …Kunoichi…
….must also check out saxophonist Harumo Imai!!!
“Mama’s Boy” (red circle challenge version) “Kiss” …. And everything else of course…
Sorry if this repeated…just wanted to make sure you had some tasty points to head towards….
    Again….have fun!!!
