To answer your question at the end: I absolutely love Bangkok.. im originally from America, first time in my life i ever set foot in Asia was last year at 49 yrs old, i had a 4 or 5 day stopover here before heading to Phuket.. I liked Bangkok but nothing compelled me to want to come back.. however, at the end of my six months in Asia i spent the final month of my work trip in Bangkok , and i fell in love with it.. for me it was the food, the weather (i grew up in a part of the American South called New Orleans so i was very comfortable with spicy food and extreme humidity).. the layout of the City and transportation (ie the Skytrain) that i didnt find in other Asian cities.. of course the low cost of living.. the virtual lack of discernible crime (at least compared to America lol) … and Benchikitti Park really sealed the deal for me, once I discovered it on a rainy day and had the whole Park to myself, i knew i would come back and settle here .. Not to sound too ‘touchy-feely’, but it started to feel to me , in my one month here last year- that the City had some sort of healing powers.. i know that sounds kind of wild, but it’s how i felt…. And I agree 100% with what you said, and i often say it myself: Bangkok has whatever you are looking for, truly something here for everyone .. Thanks for the thoughtful video .
I really like your comment, sharing your thoughts about my country. We Thais always welcome all nationalities.I hope you will spend your retirement here in Thailand.ยินดีต้อนรับเสมอครับ
I was in Bangkok last year. Only for 5 days but I loved the energy, the food and the people. I’m coming back in January and going to stay a longer time maybe 3/4 weeks. Wanna meet for a gym run or some healthy foods. I would be down. Love you content. Thanks for sharing with us
Tourists come to visited Bangkok, a city with 15 million people, but expect it to be quiet and like pristine countryside. They follow tourist trails but expect to discover new things and leave negative reviews. Bangkok is a charming city, and if you take a few streets or a little back alley away from tourist hotspots you will find locals live in peaceful. Most Bangkok locals are friendly and open-minded. Funny thing are that Expats often find fun things to do in Bangkok before the locals.
Bangkok is amazing but you need to stay more than a few days to appreciate it. I suspect everyone hates it in the first few days but you'll love it after some time. I love Bangkok, however it was better in Covid without tourists 😂
I like your comment about Bangkok.Every place has good and bad points.Bangkok is not perfect but it is the place that is well balanced.Thank you so much for giving a very informative and fair information about Bangkok.
It has going for it that public transportation makes it virtually the only place you can live in Thailand not depending on private transporation. Downside of that is that any well connected residence will reflect that in its price.
Coming in a few weeks and I cannot wait! How anyone can go to a capital city and moan about traffic, crowding and air pollution is mental. If you don’t fancy it, go to Phuket.
Bangkok and Thailand are not perfect places. They are places where there is always something to do and it will never end. That is life. Living in an imperfect place makes life something to think about and challenging all the time. And it is fun to encounter unexpected things. Life is about learning. If you are a tourist or a foreigner who lives and works in Thailand, you may have seen Thai art, Thai paintings, Thai patterns. You will see that Thai art patterns are patterns that are designed to be boundless. They do not have to end. Thai patterns in Thai paintings are patterns that never end. They can be continued as large as you want or within any frame. Art reflects the way of life and thinking of Thai people as well. PS That Microphone is so huge
Fair analysis. As a western couple, 60, early retired, in which part of B to live to start with? Preferably modern condo with facilities and close access to MRT. Must not be totally central but not remote either.
bangkok has pros and cons like any other city. all the cons people talk about (loud, dirty, not many green areas, traffic, etc) are completely true, and much worse than in most other capital cities. but there are also many good parts. just depends what you want in life.
Great, however, a little bit glossed over and thus incomplete. You forgot the most important part: Bangkok is in Thailand (LOL), a country known for its bureaucracy and corruption. While the city has its charms, dealing with most branches of the Thai government and its red tape can be a real pain.
This: If you're a person who likes large crowded, hot cities that are mainly about the nightlife, then Bangkok is the place for you. Don't kid yourself. If you're not a short term tourist, and you don't have a legitimate expat job, then the primary reason for foreign males to live there is for the nightlife. It always comes back to the nightlife. After about 7 years, you'll wake up to the fact that if you want to live in a healthier environment for your physical and mental well-being, you don't live in Bangkok. Sorry, but to think otherwise is nonsense. If you want an outdoor activities based lifestyle, you don't live in Bangkok. See you in Phuket once you've done your 7 years there. Safe travels.

I love Bangkok, spent quite a few weeks there this year and enjoyed every moment!!
I like Bangkok. There are oases here. Also there are a lot of good malls and bookstores here, and the sky train is excellent.

Even some areas in Bangkok look so disorganized but still lots of attractions

‘mainly’ about nightlight? No Bangkok is a big city, just because you go to that tourist nightlife area doesn’t mean whole Bangkok is about nightlife.
Ur talking about yourself or what ? 😂😂 not everyone is so into nightlife and that shit just u 😂😂
are you talking about Bangkok or whining about yourself 😅😅?
Bangkok is the real art city of life. Everything is Here! Made by Siamese (Thai) and Expat cultures
