If you are on Android, audio recorder is a great app. You can use it to record from the mic, internal audio or Bluetooth. Decent settings for adjusting quality and format as well.
My phone is full of recordings of me humming, rapping and singing (badly) but it’s the best way. Sometimes I can put a drop (in my case house music) in my head & hum the full thing into my phone & make it ltr. Great tip
I was receiving my juiciest melody ideas before pocketable supercomputers arrived. It was almost always when I was out walking or shopping. I didn't own a portable recorder so I'd hum the ideas for as long as I could. Sometimes I'd make it back to my little 1/4-inch 8-track recording setup in time to capture them but very often they'd vanish back into the ether. I always say I've forgotten my best work.
For me personally recording everything is fine but the skill to operate the DAW along with knowing how to regulate every parameter precisely according to one's expectation is a whole different story I can't always simply expect to randomly press some buttons and make things sound cool altogether.
This commentary should reallly be a part of the class. I took a few studio classes and sometimes the masters go really fast and in the zone. It's nice to have a breakdown of what they are doing and why from time to time, that's where the real learning is.
I love getting ideas out right away but also letting your songs age and mature is a very real thing. You can crack open a beer anytime. But aged wine? You need to let it sit in a dark place and gather dust. Not saying that this is the only method... But most of the time, you're going to look back on your work and be sorely disappointed. Or, even worse, embarrassed. Therefore, looking back on a song you haven't released yet can make it flourish into something you'll never be disappointed in ... Food for thought.
Love Charlie. Everything he recorded has hit potential. But the two who are constantly talking in between should please just show him. We see by ourselves what he wants to show us.
The most valuable is actually seeing somebody professional infinitely clicking through presets and mumbling to it, just like you do. It removes the feeling that you are stupid, unskilled, and will never achieve anything because real pros put together a final song in 30 minutes🗿
One thing missing from your video is that Charlie is a child prodigy, he has been playing the piano since age 4 and jazz from age 10, studied at Berklee etc. He lives and breathes music and most importantly it's theory. It is very easy for him to quickly get the music in his head out of the speakers. Not so easy for us lay folk.
Because you hear your voice resonating the bones in your head as well, sounds lower in tone....everybody hates their own voice, well, except politicians xD
Would love to finally hear him sing in his natural voice. He seems pretty trapped in this weird „MUST be high pitched head voice“ concept, which you get bored from so fast.
I wish I had a DAW that could Capture; "in the Moment"! "Time to Switch to Pro-Tools" .... Ableton Live, Logic, Studio One and now Luna have all Left me High and Dry with nothing to show for.
he isnt. he records the idea on his phone, then recreate it on his daw. then he plays what he has on his daw and uses his phone to record him singing his next idea with the daw playing in the background.
Before doing all of that process, you've got to have certain specific knowledge "downloaded" in your mind. Learn how to share your ideas, Study music theory, and of course learn how to use the DAWS:D
Hello! I use music recording apps and would like to know if you use any apps for collaborative music writing? If yes, which ones and why? I would appreciate any recommendations and advice!

Yes I wants to see him finishes the song
It’s to promote studio as he has classes on there
"It's just trial and error; it's not going to right all the time." There is wonderful freedom in that statement.
Man it is so freeing to see that Charlie Puth reacts the same way to hearing his recorded voice played back as I do.
Glad to know I've been getting it half right. Room for growth always a blessing
Im never “saving” my ideas for later after watching this! 🥂🙌🏽
Amazing!

Yep just a simple recording app
Watching Charlie Puth work makes me happy.

Same
I use my voice notes section so much for song ideas. One of the best tools you can use!
i honestly had so much enjoyment watching this. This is real music production, excited to see more!
Glad you enjoyed it! Stay tuned, more to come!
The way we select samples and then forget the sample in our head while scrolling across samples❤😂😂
Did the class last year, would love to see a compilation of every time he had random tip he learned from one of the super producers he works with
That bassline brought it to life!
You’s are the absolute best channel for musicians to learn from!
Thanks so much!!
Charlie a real one for the little sweetwater candie packet half opened on the desk

Charlie is a elite complete musician and producer omg bro

He's so charming. Didn't come here to relate to Charlie Puth but here I am rooting for him.
Dude is talented, not sure why the hate. Just take the advice and move on
Its because he can be a bit pretentious at times
People are sick
Charlie is just amazing 🥹✨❤
Something I’ve learned through all these years,if it’s not give you chills ain’t it.!
Charlie is a maestro of feel good music 🎶
5:10 there's a preset on Fl Studio Harmor that sounds exactly like that.
Can you name it please?
Love how they make u think this is a Puth video and not these two using his ideas to promote their ever present videos
Yall sitting and talkin had a moment or two. I was educated and entertained.
Yall appreciated the process and I felt that.
Be well new friends.

Charlie has to release ts frl🔥🔥
Charlie's perfect pitch enables him to effortlessly identify and determine chords for melody lines instantly. This was really nice to watch. 💖💖💖
we aint ever getting older 🗣️🗣️

This is refreshing to know I’m doing something right with creating!!! I spend a lot of time on just finding the right sound!!!
Crazy how much that baseline added
Very enjoyable video. Tip 3 is the ice for sure.
Never thought I would have a similar way of songwriting as a PopStar. BUT WAIT....WHY AM NOT A FK POPSTAR???!!!
I swear if Music was a person it's Charlie.
The basic things I already do, but everything else I don’t have the software 😭
Exactly… i literally use garageBand its so bad 😂
Cakewalk DAW is free with full capabilities/similarities to Logic Pro@@just2lonelytoasts
Same here bro, do the basics but ain’t got all this to work with to improve better
Same 😭
Maybe soundtrap
Actually I find out that, in some ways the starting point of songwriting is really similar in what I also do! that's sick!
1. is just the most humiliating step ever 😭
What a song writing genius!
Love Charlie. Everything he recorded has hit potential. But the two who are constantly talking in between should please just show him. We see by ourselves what he wants to show us.
I don't know much about music but one thing is for sure...his mind is flowing with an endless supply of elements present in water 😂😂..
Finding sounds a struggle even for Charlie lmao
wow Charlie Puth is a Genious I am so happy he is sharing with us the way he does it, Creativity is Intelligence having Fun!
I wish he released it 😭
Thanks for the insights and condensation of all the info charlie gave us, thanks!!
Amazing and informative video guys! Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
NEED MORE OF THISSSSS!
This is really working
this is exactly what i do. i am not worried am better

Can you tell us what he is using on his phone and home studio?

bro you got to save your favorite presets to speed up your workflow
"I have this hihat idea" *plays 2-step hihat pattern on midi keyboard*
와 대박이다!!!
I found myself vibing with Charlie
thats dope mr puth
these are great and helpful videos keep up 🙌🔥
Because you hear your voice resonating the bones in your head as well, sounds lower in tone....everybody hates their own voice, well, except politicians xD
Chance to add monthly plans in the future ? Thanks !
U guys are great
Would love to finally hear him sing in his natural voice. He seems pretty trapped in this weird „MUST be high pitched head voice“ concept, which you get bored from so fast.
Yeah it's a modern thing, I think. Boys singing high.
Charlie is my guy..
True legend😎❤️🎧
I wish I had a DAW that could Capture; "in the Moment"! "Time to Switch to Pro-Tools" .... Ableton Live, Logic, Studio One and now Luna have all Left me High and Dry with nothing to show for.
Musical genius
how is he looping and layering iOS voice memos on his phone?!
he isnt. he records the idea on his phone, then recreate it on his daw. then he plays what he has on his daw and uses his phone to record him singing his next idea with the daw playing in the background.
@@cerebrumexcrement ah that makes sense, yea sometimes i do that too (minus the daw)
I'd like to know the software he's using please

Charlie Puth is a real musical nerd
Inspiring video, thanks! ✨
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!!
When i Try to Make New Melody for Song, O Get Those Melodies Which are Already Exist In Other Songs 💀
What program was he using?
ProTools in my opinion
Inspired video for me
This is so good
very good video! thank you❤
Let me just go over to this keyboard and play the dopest thing ever...
What are all the tools, plugins, and software he’s using?
guys, u are so awesome!!!
Hello! I use music recording apps and would like to know if you use any apps for collaborative music writing? If yes, which ones and why? I would appreciate any recommendations and advice!
this was awesome! thank you
Glad you liked it!
Does anyone know what softwares/plugins Charlie is using?
Its Pro Tools
But how do you find the chords to your melody? Like how do you know what notes youre singing?
As long as your not tonedeaf you can just hear it?
Damn, I love this! ❤
Cool video! Thanks
Glad you liked it!
I'm also inspired by Charlie Puth ❤
That's great to hear!
The two that keep interrupting stop do that 😂😂
I mean it helps he has perfect pitch and already knows the notes key and chords of a random hum
Yeah that's true when I figure out chords I need to draw the midi cause I can't just play chords on a keyboard
You can always develop relative pitch later in life and then use that to find the chords and 3rd and 5ths of any scale
@rano12321 that's the thing I'm good at figuring out what Chords sound right or how they should sound but no idea the theory behind it
Do his complex back around song next, not hopes up
doesn't that guy look like john wick?
He gave up guns for music
@@rifatahmed6214 huh lol
@@rifatahmed6214haha yeah swapped bullets for beats 😎👌🏼
what app did he use at the start to record his voice on the phone
Voice recorder lol.
bro just made a hit for the chainvapers
Wow that means i have just lost so many hits 😢 but how to do that in public
Jackson worked like this
I have the same keyboard... but unfortunately not the same skills as Charlie.... not even close 🤓
Is that John Wick? 😂
It's funny how Charlie is still so insecure about his own voice even when the whole world is praising it. Guess the weirdness will never go away haha
Is someone here could help me figure out what’s the app Charlie Puth is using????😭😭
why do Australians say Idea-r instead of idea. Not hate just curious what in the language pushes the dialect that way.
because their ancestors were pirates. thats why they say idearrr instead of idea, norrrrr instead of no, and arrrr instead of i like how that sounds.
@@cerebrumexcrement f for doubt but I like the response. 😂
Thanks ❤
You're welcome!
