What a wonderful voce! Rich in Bhakti. Excellent shruti-shuddha. This is the first time I am hearing his voice, and now I understand why my sangeetha acharya, the late Sri T N Bala, adored this musician and admired his singing so much that he invited Shastrigal to visit the USA.

I remember the golden days of early sixties, when Sri TSB, Sengalipuram & Variyar swamigal used to do their upanyasams at Venus Colony. Stalwarts like M S, M LV , G N B, Madurai Mani Iyer used to sing. Subsequently , Mukkur used to do upanyasams....missing those days....Each evening used to be so divine ! Sri Rama Navi utsavam

Great 'dhwani' in Sastrigal's voice - faultless sruthi - captivating effect. His Sanskrit pronunciation is unque and accurate. I believe he was a full time employee of State Bank of India. Yet, found time to combine his early knowledge gathered in the Agraharam he grew up in, with subsequent research. It takes much mental and physical energy to perform a Kathakalakshepam for even for one hour. His average was two and a half hours, I think !!!!!
