A lot of people think ASMR is weird, but in all honesty it’s a blessing for me. I’m autistic and am very sensitive to sound. I will become very upset if the noise or sound become very loud or if there is any hostility to that loudness. I will become calm if the sound I hear is soft spoken and if it sounds like that person is friendly.

I really hope they do this one!! Social anxiety is still so misunderstood. I just re-watched TNG and forgot how much Barclay's character spoke to me. There's so rarely any positive representation of people with social anxiety in the media.
I think a lot of people still don't understand how much of a genetic / physiological component there is with social anxiety. Many people still think it's a choice.

+the reason there's more white people being shown in the algorithm is because there's 75% white people and 15% black people in the us. It's gonna be hard to push black asmr content creators when statistically they are the minority of the population. ASMR is therapy yes, but it is absolutely not a replacement for professional help. ASMRtists, however lovely and good at what they do, are not psychiatrists. I deal with an anxiety disorder that has caused me sleep issues and ASMR is able to help with that temporarily, and I'm so grateful for it. I personally also needed to seek professional help and medication, but it differs for different people.

What Glow said about the autism spectrum really got me. I was recently diagnosed, and ever since I found about ASMR it helps me so damn much, when I'm stressed or anxious or just lonely. And it's so true, I can't bear anyone touching me, but I do feel somewhat hugged by ASMR videos and it's nice.
The diverse question is interesting because the community actually is pretty diverse, but the only people the youtube algorithm promotes and shares are the white women. So it's a solid "well, yes, but technically no"

Grateful for the ASMR Community, this was an excellent video and very different. One thing I’ve noticed while doing this for as many years is sometimes there are issues whether that be with other creators or viewers.. but during those times it is absolutely incredible how everyone always comes together to resolve and move on, as ASMR *is* the goal and creates such an incredible feeling. It’s saved my life and so many others. Anyway, great video. Great artists. And I found a new channel!

Hearing Batalas experiences made me so sad she is one of my favorites so it’s hard to hear she gets hate for her skin color.
I watch so many asmrtists like “young and lovely asmr” “chynaunique asmr” “DG asmr” etc. Like I watch asmr in Spanish. I watch asmr in different languages. I watch people from all around the world. But it is true that if people search up asmr the algorithm is basically white people then a few people of color.

Asmr is literally like a non harmful drug to me hahah. The moment you get this feeling of complete coziness / carefreeness it rly gives you some kind of high hahha. But yeah seriously asmr has had such an impact on my mental health, being able to just let go of all of your struggles even if its just for a moment is a huge relief...

But I also love how soothing it is to me when I’m having a meltdown or panic attack if music isn’t working for me asmr usually works. Also I’ve seen some sensory overload videos and I really love it. Thanks for sharing I figured I would as well.
21:47 bro I started crying when she said that. I’m autistic and I have been listening to and watching ASMR for many years but never really thought too deeply about it. ASMR really helps me deal with sensory overload, to sleep, to relax and now I also realized that it also comfortably fulfills my need of human contact and intimacy. I love these people, wholeheartedly.
I'm autistic too and use ASMR for similar reasons. It helps me calm down and helps with sensory overload. I actually intentionally watched this video because I was getting overloaded.
Yes! I have autism, anxiety, depression, adhd, as well as alot of other mental and physical health conditions. Sleep is so difficult for me... its 2:37am as Im typing this... but ASMR has helped me so much. I can get a full nughts rest when I listen to ASMR. It also helps calm my anxiety down, helps calm my panic attacks and like you said with sensory overloads. I have an assistance dog to help me during the day and out and about but ASMR is the thing that helps at night when my assistance dog isnt allowed in my room (I have a loft bed and it wouldnt be safe for him to sleep in my room) sorry I'm rambling on now lol
Also being on the autism spectrum I had basically the same reaction. Extremely happy that Glow mentioned the paradoxical craving for human contact. This has helped my mental health and I'm sure that of others immensely.
Interesting. I have ADHD, ASD and anxiety but I have the opposite reaction. ASMR sounds make my brain spaz and I feel like exploding.

Touching on what April said, my first experience with ASMR was with my cousin, we were 8 or 9, in her room having a playdate, she told me this game she heard where you draw on someone's back with your fingertip. It started with her drawing and me guessing but later she just drew whatever because we both agreed it was super relaxing. That moment is very special to me. Some people can really find anything sexual, it just depends on you

also I get more views when I Iook pretty also, I have brown eyes but straightening my hair just look better XD Wearing blue contacts doesnt change views for me. But if you really look more striking with blue eyes you might get more views, but thats just because ppl think its really pretty the way you look with it. Like beautiful ppl often get advantages in life just because of their beauty. But for men, they might choose a pretty girl over an uglier one even tho for example the sounds are just as good. Or girls and cute guys :P human nature I guess. Ppl love looking at pretty things.

I always got tingles from underrated asmrtists. A small recommendation, maybe u should explore Korean asmr channels, my favs are ppomo, latte and booyoung
checkout “terapeutica asmr” or “mi vida asmr”, their channels are in spanish but the soft spoken is perfect
