That was excellent, thanks for making it available , John Harvey was a very good motorcycle rider too, he used to do track days out at Calder in the late 80's early 90's, there was no end to his talents.

Certainly one of Aussie's great drivers. Just found that he passed away last year RIP Johnny.
Drove the dirt track monsters for long time before going to the touring cars on the track with HDT

Great film. Dad, Allan “Marshall” Russack drove with Johnny Peers, actually they were also drinking partners! It was great to hear him reminisce about Lenny Brock, Jack Brabham, Bob Playfair, Bryan and Peter Cunneen, Frank Satan Brewer, Ray Revell, and many others and their home made often death trap machines of the 40’s and 50’s.

Makes you remember how cut-and-thrust the Feature Races were in those days, and all without roll-cages.

This footage was taken July 1962, during this period it was not vintage, it was the real deal.

Roll bars? They were supposed to high enough to keep the driver protectedfrom the top of the rollbar down too the nose bar.
Most of those cars did not comply.
Harves about the worst and he was never a big bloke.
Did I see SA34 in that lot? Predominantly a blue car with a Holden. If so Dud Lambert from Pt Pirie who was still racing at 84!
