Me and my wife had a listening party for this, mind you, we haven’t been this invested in HipHop since the 90s and we’ve never had a listening party for HipHop. Dot breathed life back into HipHop this summer for us, and we’ve been watching and waiting with anticipation and a bit cynicism (HipHop has been a let down). This album did not disappoint in any measure, and it has been a momentous year thanks to the young GOAT from Cali. These breakdowns are exactly what we look for; intelligent and unbiased opinions on a genre that deserves so much more attention, work, respect and dedication that it has been receiving over the past years. Spot on analysis, gentlemen and we thank you, both 🥂

I feel like alot of people missed the Biggie homage in TV off He quotes Biggie word for word "Ain't no other kings in this rap thing they siblings, nothing but my children one shot they disappearing" He ride for Pac but still give BIG his flowers 💐 Respect
Adding to the fact it could also serve as a homage to ICE CUBE (West Coast Legend) who used the very same bars a hook to his Child Support Record (TRACK 5) which featured on his FIRST album titled LAUGH NOW CRY LATER, released under his INDEPENDENTLY OWNED Record Label LENCH MOB RECORDS. #SmallReach🤣
His albums always get unfair hate but I appreciate Kendrick taking risks and doing something different every time. Him and Kanye every album is different. This albums a classic in its own way it’s different than all his other albums.
One of very few artists who has consistently shown growth! No album sounds like the other! That's how it should be. Tell me the stories from the beginning. Give me another perspective, remind me of your talent, get vulnerable, and now he's reminding people what it still is! I'm here for it. However, I'm still a bigger fan of KONCEPT KENNY!!!
Imagine if K-Dot had a Pharcyde phase? From the flow to the production, that would be a refreshing call back to a legendary LA group and Dot’s Black Hippie days
1:51:00 When TPAB came out, Kendrick went to visit a High School and they loved Kendrick’s music. He was so impressed. It’s on RUclips as “Kendrick Lamar Visits Mr. Mooney’s class.” Kendrick said he learned that we shouldn’t underestimate their intelligence because of their age, and that you basically can’t generalize them. I’m two years younger than Kendrick. When I was in school we studied the poetry of Tupac Shakur. Now colleges and schools are studying Kendrick. A teacher on Tik Tok said her school transitioned from a Drake school to a Kendrick school, and that the students are studying and looking for all the double entendres. Youth just needed to be introduced to it. My sister was in Marching band and the teacher made them play Led Zeplin and Queen. She Loves Queen! Even though the lead singer of Queen, Freddie Mercury, died a year before she was born. Lol!
Yep, he says as much on the heart part 3. “Thank god for the album Idolize, ‘it’s dark and plus hell is hot’ that’s what started this crazy ride” 3rd verse of Reincarnated was VERY DMX

Listened to this while cleaning the house like Justin did. I know I’m a white gal. Been listening to hip hop since early 90’s. I can remember a concert at URI where a one Christopher Wallace came out on stage and rapped party and B*lls**t. Only one that didn’t hesitate whole crowd went nuts. With that I’m a huge beat/instrumental person and this hit. Kendrick didn’t come out with another”not like us,” or DNA. I 100% agree with Justin that Man at the Gardens gives me strong One Mic vibes. From the slow build up to the way he adds more energy near the end of the track.
Listened to the whole thing with my daughter. Xmas came early fo real. Top Hip Hop mixtape stylised album. Loving those Hip Hop/RNB tunes too, they feel like a 90s or is it just me? Also, i understand what you mean about squabble CK, expectations were different to what came out but after listening, its stuck with me and even got my daughter dancing around with a west coast bop. King Kendrick
Totally get your initial reaction to gnx and peekaboo. The thing I noticed about those songs is how they embody pure black air force energy. those tracks are no doubt for the streets mainly. I think they will grow on you, as you become more familiar and develop more context with them.
Ill be honest. Album is lit and is extremely West Coast. I love every song and get better the more you listen. GNX song i dont love the most but the fact they made a bop out of that beat i couldnt follow is a talent in itself.
I love this duo so much! I appreciate the depth Curtis and Justin put into their analysis. It tickles the part of my brain that requires I listen to an album, read the lyrics, & digest it fully. None of those surface level reviews. Thank you for always putting out quality content ❤
This project is so dope! I listened to it about 2.5 times now and its better then the first play through in terms of straight up slappers for the radio there is definitely 2 hits in my opinion with the possibility of a 3rd! One thing I just noticed is that at the end of reincarnated, while he's speaking as himself/the fallen angel he doesn't end that section with "reincarnated". It's just 'carnated, setting a counterpoint to the explanation of "rewriting the devil's story to take the power back". Had to see you react to heart 6 Curtiss knowing you was around during a lot of that come up. Also wrapping up my first beat ever bro thanks to you and your courses. You and Justin legends in my eyes. THANK YOU!
This was amazing and I needed this more than I thought. Thank yall both. 🙏🏿
Enjoyed watching you two experience this again and discuss how you’d changed or further developed thoughts on it.
Brothas thanks and much appreciated for this content ✊🏿
This album is a mild version of Hit em up with No Vaseline in a respectful way.
That Recarnation hit was a DAMN! Man, I can't stop getting emotional
Curtiss I've loved to see you collabing with Justin, I first found you on Knocksteady TV 11 years ago, and have been checking on your music ever since, but seeing you pop up surrounding the Kendrick/Drake beef has been really fun for me.
Me: am I really about to watch a three hou…
Me: yes, stfu and press play
Kudos to you and Justin- THE BEST review I have listened to/watched. Individually and collaboratively you and Justin are top tier.
Some of my absolute favorite albums I HATED the very first time I heard them. Just because you don't vibe with something the first listen doesn't mean you won't ever like it. Our expectations can sometimes ruin some of the best things in life
Justin is having a ball and I am here for it
REINCARNATED with the 2Pac Made Niggaz beat 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Diyers and its all happening 🎉🎉🎉
Dodger Blue! Coming from an HBCU, all I could see was fraternities and sororities strolling to this song!
Squabble up is dope. Come around to the good side. For me it's an awesome blend of modern tech synths and post disco 80s pop. The producers went stoopid on this! And the production team on this are heavy hitters. Go look them up
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Two of my faves 🥰🥰
I love that he tapped back into the 90s as well as bringing nods to us 80s babies upbringing nod to the yours to follow suit being a artist and a die hard fan doesn’t take away from the LIFE that created this to be a artist and a die hard hip hop fan this is about black life in resilience being artistically expressed that the entire world is mimicking whether they like to admit it or not we are the birth of all this … this is still REAL LIFE not just art so it’s not finna be just entertaining to yall artist and fans some of us are more than just them titles idc if everyone got hyped off a beef this is BLACK life on display 👀
Yall working overtime 😂😂😂😂
I love the take. Thanks guys ❤❤❤❤❤
I can't even believe I listened the entire time but you all were so engaging! I was looking for a channel that was going to provide true analysis and it was nice knowing that you all had the background that you do. Appreciate yall!
