Kobe was accused of felony sexual assault aka rape. The case was eventually dropped but he did make an apology to his wife and “settled out of court” with the victim. (He gave her money)
A lot of people think he was a good guy but idk why. Lots of people have weird parasocial relationships with celebrities. 🤷♂️

The main reason he was considered innocent is because there was so many holes in the accuser’s story that it was crazy. DNA tests confirmed that she slept with multiple men other than Kobe in that same day or two when she had semen from another man in her underwear as well as a pubic hair from a Caucasian man. Her explanation was that she accidentally grabbed a dirty pair of underwear stained with semen to change into, which was considered highly suspicious. She also showed signs of vagina trauma which were declared to be be more consistent with sex with multiple partners in a two-day time span than from forced intercourse. She also admitted to lying twice about the details of the incident to Detective Doug Winters and was mentally ill and on antipsychotic medication for schizophrenia. She was suicidal as well and attempted to kill herself twice on sleeping pills. Kobe definitely cheated but the overwhelming evidence against the credibility of the accuser led most to believe the sex was consensual and the accuser simply wanted to profit off of him.
because it only takes an allegation against a rich/ famous man to destroy his image not an actual conviction, therefore they have to pay the person to avoid it. In some cases the allegations can be true, in some they are false.
A lot of fake allegations are happening so I won't think he is guilty unless proven. He have money so it may be the best way to settle other than going through the case for years

He denied it at first but when they told him they had his DNA on her underwear he confessed.
