@@ThomTomful Right!? They barely even have the comparatively much less brutal Class system as seen in the UK. The fact that the US uses middle class to mean “anyone who isn’t homeless or a billionaire” makes it useless in a horrible judgemental usage or for sociological purposes. Whilst, again, the caste system is far more barbaric, even the class system means that my (UK relative) poverty upbringing would follow me in some aspects if I was ever rich (one day, right?), whereas America tends not to care provided you are willing to play the capitalism game. It only seems to be a problem if you advocate eradicating income inequality whilst having money yourself, or if you’re a minority, of course. But the old vs new money distinction that is prevalent in the class system is next to invisible for white people in the US. But Shane seems to wear his “poorness” not as a “he did well against the odds” badge, but as an oversized paper thin shield to protect him from criticism. It’s sort of infuriating!
@Rain Elizabeth Shane wore the same stretched out hole filled t-shirt for a solid year. He eats delivered fast food constantly, and doesn’t seem to ever cook. People don’t need to focus on high end brands to have taste and class. (In fact, the obsession with luxury brands is a sign of new money, and tacky to most people over the age of 25 in all income brackets.)
The mansion is the only thing he spends money on tho other than his car which he hardly seems to use. He’s dirt cheap with clothes, food, and video production. You know the things that he shows to the world more than his giant house.
What's funny is the stans that will defend him include people who are either not even old enough to work or are experiencing burnout from working tons of hours to barely sustain a living AND afford his products... Keep defending him, I'm sure the "poor" millionaire will mail you a personal buddy check any day now.
This series is just 6 hours of Shane's narcissism, vanity and greed on display and frankly it's a miracle it's *only* 6 hours. I can't believe Jeffree Star didn't try to sue him or something when he found out this documentary was NOT actually about *him...*
I used to be a fan of Shane's videos a while back, and I remember there was one where he literally admitted to keeping a jug under his bed specifically for him to piss in. Like he couldn't walk ten feet to the bathroom, so he had a special piss jug. And this is the man whose makeup people went crazy over???
@@wendeviant2475 To be fair, the TSA is utter bullshit, there’s zero proof they’ve ever stopped a single terror threat, and the invasion of privacy for security theatre isn’t worth it. But your point absolutely still stands. If he doesn’t want to fly, he can drive (although, statistically, he’s safer in even a private jet). But grilling the pilot like a weirdo is a level of fake neuroses (and distraction from the sheer privilege and environmental cost of private jet travel) that borders on the absurd. But anything for “content”… I can’t stand Shane, though, so maybe I’m just biased 🤷🏻
@@Halokon lmfao, the irony that it's only caused even more racism and drama in airports than the opposite. Like their 'random' security checks on 'certain people'. That and I always get uncomfortable being patted down by some bad attituded woman who's twice my age, smacking her gum in my face while using questionably sterile gloves... Airports piss me off honestly.
@@PoptartParasol Totally. The sad fact is, planes (from a terrorist attack point of view, not talking about normal accident rates) are no safer as a result of the TSA and their security checks. Multiple attempts have slipped through, only stopped because the would-be bomber failed to make a reliable explosive. The way to stop terrorist attacks isn't random checks, but intelligence services. Now, there's a lot of issues with how most countries actually make use of their intelligence agencies (for example, the CIA is just as racist as the TSA, if not more so) but they do at least have a chance of preventing attacks, unlike the TSA. And if used properly, we could return to the days of meeting people at the gates and the like. Hell, even as it is, the odds of a terror attack are absolutely tiny, and with a few security precautions, we could easily have a much more enjoyable (and cheaper) experience at airports. Although, given how much airtravel is going to cook our planet, maybe that's a bad thing? Life gets really complex, really fast when you start trying to look at the systems and how they intersect and interact with each other... I think I'll just watch Nick videos and ignore the problems, my brain hurts :P
My hot take is that when most men get into makeup they seem to get a lot more positive feedback/attention for mediocre work and women get more criticism. So everyone fawning over Shane’s poor blending didn’t surprise me.
the only people fawning were shane’s fans everyone else either dragged him or ignored it since he’s popular. i will say more people outside of his fan circle ignored it because he was a man. you’re right in that point if he was a woman more people wouldnt ignore it and drag her to filth
You can see this perfectly in the female dominated Reddit subs. Either in the one for makeup or nails a woman can post something beautiful/wonderfully done and get moderate attention while a man post something that looks like a child did it and people fall over themselves to compliment him. They will get twice as may upvotes as a woman who did it ten times better. It’s like they’re all saying: “Omg thank you king you tried your best!! I know it was so hard to lower yourself to this silly girlie hobby!! You’re soooo much better than us ladies at this!! Ours may look amazing, but yours has soooo much heart ❤️ 🥰” Men are coddled so hard in makeup, nails, and female dominated industries in general.
Probably because outside the internet, men who dare to wear makeup face public ridicule, harassment and abuse, even MORE than women who wear makeup do. Actually, the abuse gender non-conforming men face is barely even comparable.

It’s actually so freakin disgusting. People are out here struggling to pay their rent and feed their families and his “oh I’m so poor” schtick is gross and shows how narcissistic he is. Empath my butt.
Tbh most documentaries are biased. They're meant to persuade us into a certain narrative, not give an impartial onlook on things. Film Theory did a nice video about it.
@@AmandaVieiraMamaesouCult The bias isn't the only thing--or even the main thing-- that makes this nnot a "documentary". Aesthetically, it's a vlog, not a documentary.
Does Shane not realize he didn't really grew up poor considering he lived in a middle class home where it doesn't seem like he was at the risk of losing his home. Like he just wasn't rich. Just because you're not rich doesn't mean you're poor. He was literally middle class

I guess you could say Shane’s series is what allowed Gabbie Hanna to call her current series of videos where she just….sits on the floor and talks at the camera a “docuseries”………oh RUclips, what a silly place to pretend to be an adult.
I find it interesting how Shane constantly wants to humble himself. He always wants people to think he’s “just like you”, and I think that’s why his core audience likes him. He looks more “relatable” in comparison to everyone else in his circle just because he uses self deprecation to cope with his insecurities and is somehow able to use his impoverished past as a shield for all the mistakes he’s made.
@@missbraindamage i dont really watch shane or know much about him, but as an outsider looking in he seems to always use that as a crutch for people to pity him and forgive him, whether it be true or not. Regardless it’s very weird of him to mention it in the situations that he chooses to do so.
I am not defending Shane here, becasue he is an adult who should know better, but I do think some of his attitude comes from the LA environment. People are so image/money obsessed and flaunt their wealth in such ways that I do see how someone with "only" a few million dollars can feel poor compared to the image other people put out. I can only imagine that it is worse in the LA influencer circle. HOWEVER, Shane is an adult and he is very aware of the image he tried to portray on the internet. He really should be better aware of how insulting and tacky it is to stand in a million dollar estate and claim to be poor. If he really came from poverty, he should understand better than anyone how unobtainable his lifestyle is for most of the world. His ungratefulness really feels like a slap in the face.
Looking back, Andrew’s constant laughter sounds uncomfortable and forced. This is probably because being around Shane was uncomfortable, and the laughter was forced. Hindsight really is 20/20
I especially noticed he doesn't laugh near as much like that in Garrett's newer videos. And ironically, Chris now laughs too much in Shane's newer videos. Which makes me wonder if Shane just requires his cameraman to laugh nonstop to make his content seem more funny
I love Andrew but his laugh always annoyed me. Watching him in Garrett’s videos, he doesn’t excessively laugh. So I wonder if Shane told him to laugh at everything he said
I'm convinced he did. At first he hadn't introduced Andrew but when he used to laugh a few times people were curious and since then I think he asked Andrew to play if up and laugh when he really didn't want too 🤔
I think it's both a nervous laugh and fake. Shane saw that people were naturally drawn to Andrew, so he asked Andrew to be more involved. But Andrew doesn't really know how to interact to the drama because it's awkward, so he just laughs.
I remember watching the Jeffree Star and Eugenia Cooney “documentary” Shane did when they came out. But it never really got to the point of things - the drama and accusations that surround those people. He just validates his own work by putting on sad faces while talking to people and talking softly “because he’s an empath” 😔🙄🥴
She's also doing worse now than she's ever been before and where is he? Why isn't he trying to get her help now? And the lawyer being there the whole time she was being interviewed and her mom just dipping out as soon as Shane got there with the camera was sus af!
Exactly! Usually a documentary is there to show evidence for a claim that it is trying to make. But Shane's videos would have like 2 or 3 parts without an actual point at the end.
That one made me sad. I wasn't familiar with her before it and it was so clear she wasn't 'recovered' like the documentary kept trying to convince you. She was still very skinny and talked about everything really indirectly. She's only gone downhill since. It seemed genuinely damaging for her to participate in instead of focusing on continuing her recovery. If Shane couldn't see that while filming he's either completely incompetent or chose to keep going out of greed. Probably a little of both.
@@eatturpentine She was most definitely not recovered like they were trying to portray, she didn’t even want to do recovery. One of her former friends, Jaclyn Glenn, & a few others staged an intervention with Eugenia & she was placed in a 5150 hold & forced to go to rehab. She has had an ED for YEARS & they were trying to act like she just magically “got over” it in the 5-ish months she was gone.

The worst part is that Shane is (allegedly!) releasing a Britney documentary next for his comeback. I'm so disgusted, because the last thing Britney deserves is Shane exploiting her very real and very serious case with an over-dramatic, poorly-researched, and poorly-made "documentary". Leave Britney alone!
I heard about this and took it as fact and then later heard it was just a rumor. What I know is that having yet ANOTHER MAN making m$ney for himself off of this woman is unconscionable. Guys, do you think you can ever, EVER restrain yourselves from using women for your own convenience, satisfaction, or greed? Based on a quick review of all recorded history up until . . . um, what time is it now? ? ? ? I’d say NOPE, NO WAY.
it was actually this series that made me start to see through shane. the way he was portraying himself with such contradiction between what he's saying and showing. the drawn-out, disorganized structure (or lack there of). the manipulative "oh i'm soo poor, noooobody loves me enough to buy my meeeerch D;;;; " bullshit. i didn't watch him often, but had a decent opinion of him before all this (i wasn't familiar with his past, and wasn't in the habit of, i guess, looking into that kind of stuff before?)
I had a very similar experience. I live in a very tiny appartment, share my room with two sisters and I would NEVER call myself poor. Seeing this episode, where he complains about not having enough money and in the next breath drives a minigolf cart in his huge property without an ounce of self awareness broke the entire illusion. What a fucking joke.
Would love to hear your thoughts on Shane's Eugenia videos. I remember feeling so happy for her when I started watching, but as the video went on it just felt... wrong. Like he was putting her in more danger of relapse by making the video.
Eugenia stopped recovering as soon as she got back into that house with her mom. I do wish Shane would have taken the whole thing more seriously, though.
I love Nick deeply as a content creator but I genuinely don't think they should cover the Eugenia docs. Not because they wouldn't handle it respectfully but because of how damaging that series is. As much as we all rag on the marriage counselor who diagnosed him with empath, she does actually have experience with EDs and discussed what not to do, on camera. Shane broke every single one of those rules right away. Again, on camera. Given his own issues with body image, constant discussions of food and looks, the way things are talked about in the documentary feel like... I'll be honest it feels like you aren't supposed to be watching it at best and might be actively harmful at worse. Nick is magic but not even Merlin could bring the fun into that doc.
I feel like the only reason that these “documentaries” had so many fans was because Shane was the only well known person doing this kind of thing. It was pretty hard to find even slightly produced-feeling content on RUclips that didn’t take itself too seriously, so he was kind of the first. But I’m totally convinced that if there were other personalities doing the same thing at the same time (i.e. Anthony Padilla now), Shane’s work would not have been so highly and widely regarded.
Pilot: *makes polite conversation to decrease weirdness* Shane: "omg! R we gonna crash?!" Pilot: *attempts to answer, gets interrupted by rude giggling* Shane:..... Pilot: *doesn't know what to do* Shane: "OMG WHAT A LONG AWKWARD SILENCE!"
Uhh, Jeffree creeped me out so much in the MySpace days. Glad to see he’s even more fucking terrifying now. Along with visible dumpster fire, Shane Dawson, these should be great videos.
He’s been the same person the entire time he’s been online, he just has more money now. I found an old fan group of his on live journal from circa 2006 and he was exactly how you’d expect. I wasn’t really on MySpace so all I knew of him for years was that dang cereal floor pic from seeing it on LJ Amazing what I learned when the world shut down and I finally got into RUclips 😂
It's so fascinating seeing people remembering him from MySpace (like I do) and having to process the reality that he's into the makeup industry. I was interested in his whole deal (guy in makeup in 2006/7) then I heard his 'music' and I noped out, especially finding out a whole bunch of problematic stuff even back then. Imagine my surprise 10 years later knowing he has a makeup brand and everyone being practically in love with him. Strange how the tides turn.
I’ll never understand why everyone loved ryland so much when shane was at his peak and they got together... I thought I was crazy cause like that dude was pretty obviously a gold digger/clout chaser and after Shane practically gave him his career (he went from under 100k followers to millions), he was able to miss out on all the backlash Shane got and is still making bank from Shane’s (current or former) fans. Everyone loved him immediately but he within a year was getting jealous Shane bought Bobby a car, had Shane buy him a G Wagon, they started wearing Gucci, he had his sister (who is a sweet person) move in with them then they got her her own place. Like it went from Shane joking about being poor but saying how frugal he is with his money, to Ryland having a whole Gucci wardrobe and a $100k car to live the LA kept boy/sugar baby life. Let’s be real, Ryland was mad he didn’t go to Jeffree’s house because (I’ll give it to him) Jeffree is generous with his friends, so he was pissed he didn’t get to play house in a mega mansion and get to play with Jeffrees stuff. Like bro as... whatever... as this documentary was, your fiancé is working this wasn’t a social call, how’s a grown ass man gonna pout his sugar daddy didn’t take him to the richer mans house to play? Like that was Shane’s job and ryland didn’t have a reason to be there, just like he got mad cause he didn’t get to go on the private jet to whatever event they had. Also the one episode at the end where Jeffree gives them both all the Gucci stuff to thank Shane, Ryland was practically salivating, and he did exactly nothing to help through this process. Like at least Shane gave Jeffree the extra Internet-breaking clout and they both made like 20 million from his palette, Ryland didn’t do shit to help. Andrew did infinitely more and didn’t ask for anything.
One thing that annoys me is that back when Shane was the Oprah of the internet and everyone loved him, people would always be like “he’s an OG of RUclips. I’ve been watching him for years. He’s the reason I wanted to do RUclips’s. Blah blah blah” which means they watched all his problematic content and had no issue with it until someone else told them it was problematic.
Exactly! I didn’t think it till now but it’s so obvious after his content with Garrett, where he laughs because Garrett is actually interesting and funny
i'm sorry i can't BELIEVE people liked shane. and some people still like him. incomprehensible. unbelievable. at least oprah is charismatic. shane has all the misinformation and none of the enjoyable content.
Also Oprah is educated. And I looked this up she actually has a degree in speech communication and performance arts from Tennessee State University. And she may have gotten others. Shane has gotten high school education. Now I’m not trying to say that education levels matter but they do teach vital things for success an established industry like cinema. Even the way Nick talks, you can tell he’s gotten more education about filmmaking than Shane.
It feels weird to compare the two people. One is a widely respected journalist with a talk show that ran decades who has a massive following of grown adults. The other is trash who pisses in a bottle
I definitely thought he was "relatable" at one point. Or his squad was. I found his "docuseries" at time I was super lonely and just wanted a squad like his to make jokes and go on adventures with.
It always use to bug me when Shane would say stuff like "Im poor". Its like....dude look at the nice house you LIVE in. You are not poor. You going to Wal-mart is because you like it, not because you need it.

You start to believe that every situation you're in must be told and felt by everyone in immediate surroundings...
Shane was trying soooo hard to be relatable and down-to-earth in this series, whilst simultaneously using this series as an actual 7-part commercial for his hideous makeup collection and equally hideous pile of merch. As insufferable as Jeffree is; I’ll take his gratuitous, shameless flaunting of excessive wealth over Shane’s futile attempts to appear kinda middle class.
Another Shane series I’d love to hear you touch on is his conspiracy docuseries. Not the little clips but the full series. Why he includes his friend Brittany Louise Taylor’s abuse in there is lost on me
Regardless of Shane's intentions, I think it was good that human trafficking and abuse was talked about to such a big audience. What was not good was that everyone was talking about Chuck E Cheese instead.
No dispute on that, I totally agree. I wish Shane gave her and her story the proper respect. But no by all means Shane, make full docuseries on Tana, Trisha, Jake, and Jeffree instead 🙄

For regular videos, it didn't bother me. But for a "docuseries" that is supposed to be a lot higher quality than the rest of his videos, it definitely did lol
Yay, now I can finally “watch” this series without clicking and giving the original views. I’ve avoided it for this long just waiting for someone to break it down
one of my biggest frustrations with this series is that the cover song used for the opening credits gets the damn lyrics wrong. the CORRECT lyric is “it’s the time OF the season FOR loving.” ugh.
THANK YOU! dude when this came out I left comment on how it would feel better as a watcher to not have andrews laugh every 5 seconds. You can guess I got ATTACKED. It was just so hard to take seriously lol
I hate the "so poor" narrative. So poor, is not a person who can afford constant internet connection and cameras to make videos. So poor is not bored teen hanging out at private pool (albeit slightly unclean). So poor is a teen working a menial low paying job to support his family, which he obviously never did. He wants the reputation of "pulled himself up by his bootstraps" but he just hit the internet at the right moment in history. Congrats, you basically won the youtube lottery. Doesn't make you brave or powerful.
I agree about having a good cameraman, but also Andrew did exactly what was expected of him. Any problem there came from Shane as the “director” who knew that his young fans loved hearing Andrew and knowing he was the one behind the camera. Unfortunately since Shane cannot take direction or criticism, he can’t have ANYONE on set telling him what to do, so he hires yes men who laugh at his jokes and tell him he’s smart
holy shit five minutes in and shane's already driving me nuts with how much air time he devotes to talking about nothing like has he ever seen a documentary ever
Hearing Shane joke about being poor used to make me kinda uncomfortable, his room is probably the size of my apartment 🙃 , and i thought I was the only one who felt that way
Shane always feels the need to raise the stakes by saying he has a deep fear of something in the video. “I have a fear of flying” “I have a fear of ghosts, going bald, etc.”
Side note, when he kept telling Molly Burke one of his greatest fears is going blind, I was like.....okay. I'm sure she finds this conversation totally unique and invigorating. (Imagine me rolling my eyes for sarcastic emphasis.)
Shane talks like "assigned poor at birth" is an identity
He hasn't been poor in a LONG time. And him acting like that to manipulate his audience PISSES ME OFF.
He hasn't been poor since he's been an adult, and I'm fairly certain they weren't nearly as poor as he says they were.

Also, Shane isn't poor. He's cheap. Those things are not the same, Shane!

A 6-part infomercial where millionaire Shane cries about being poor. I'm not buying makeup from someone who thinks not bathing is a personality trait.
This comment, especially the last part made me squawk so hard I choked on my spit!🤣🤣
I've always found really weird how he enjoyed pretending to be poor and sad to be relatable. Like, shut up...
The pilot going quiet at Shane's weird-ass questions is the most human moment in this entire series.
That's like telling a TSA Agent about how many bombs or things get past TSA. Like bless ya heart I know your anxious about planes, but what the fuck-
@@wendeviant2475 To be fair, the TSA is utter bullshit, there’s zero proof they’ve ever stopped a single terror threat, and the invasion of privacy for security theatre isn’t worth it. But anything for “content”…
I can’t stand Shane, though, so maybe I’m just biased 🤷🏻
@@Halokon Sweet, beautiful nuance...a rare commodity nowadays.
Ours may look amazing, but yours has soooo much heart ❤️ 🥰”
Men are coddled so hard in makeup, nails, and female dominated industries in general.
Yep. The fact that men have dominated the makeup industry, something that's typically for women, has been criticized by some feminists.
Probably because outside the internet, men who dare to wear makeup face public ridicule, harassment and abuse, even MORE than women who wear makeup do. Actually, the abuse gender non-conforming men face is barely even comparable.

The fact that this was unironically called a “documentary” was….a choice.
Oh shit, he kind of worded it like he was struggling to survive his whole childhood because his mom couldn't afford haircuts.
The one thing I really related to Shane on was most of the time having *just* enough money to get by and you're telling me that was an exaggeration-

@@jalapeno1119 it could also be that the parents didn't like to keep up with fashion or technology.
I grew up lower middle class and my parents just didn't see the point to paying at least double for new clothes when our resale shops usually had good condition clothes, and they didn't even want me to have a phone or any non-calculator portable technology at all until college, despite it being common in my town for high schoolers to have phones. (it was pre-smartphone era, so the technology included laptops, pagers, digital planners and Nokia brick phones)
And I have that same parenting mentality for the most part, the main difference is that I like keeping fairly up to date with technology.

He didn't even have an "impoverished past."
@@missbraindamage i dont really watch shane or know much about him, but as an outsider looking in he seems to always use that as a crutch for people to pity him and forgive him, whether it be true or not. Regardless it’s very weird of him to mention it in the situations that he chooses to do so.
How he always said how poor he was, while standing in his huge mansion with a huge check from his honey sponsorship
I always hated him especially because of that. “Oh I’m poor I don’t shower I’m so relatableeee” pissed me oof
@@ravenscafe3335 My theory: free Nitrous as a perk.

yes i always wondered that too!! maybe bc he saw how david dobrik would do that and was like able?
I'm convinced he did. At first he hadn't introduced Andrew but when he used to laugh a few times people were curious and since then I think he asked Andrew to play if up and laugh when he really didn't want too 🤔
I think it's a nervous laugh
I think it's both a nervous laugh and fake. Shane saw that people were naturally drawn to Andrew, so he asked Andrew to be more involved. But Andrew doesn't really know how to interact to the drama because it's awkward, so he just laughs.
the laugh sucks
I was interested in his whole deal (guy in makeup in 2006/7) then I heard his 'music' and I noped out, especially finding out a whole bunch of problematic stuff even back then. Imagine my surprise 10 years later knowing he has a makeup brand and everyone being practically in love with him. Strange how the tides turn.
that picture of him with a confederate flag 🥴🥴
Shane’s “I’m poor” shtick and whole “none of my merch ever sells” is to emotionally manipulate his fans/viewers to buy the palette he came out with
“When that rope bridge snaps” Not Nick roasting my 6th grade literary trauma! What’s next, Where the Red Fern Grows jokes?
Damn that was a good book, sad but amazingly written
😭
Same 😅 Also I had a friend who specifically in the 6th was upset over that
I’ll never be over that!!
I always thought Ryland is a gold digger, I never liked him.
Omg yes! I always felt like he was very materialistic and quite boring lol and I absolutely noticed him salivating over that Gucci too 😂
Ryland is one of my least fave ppl on the planet.
Ryland used to be more chill on his own channel. But now his prissy character act has turned into his actual self.
Im screaming at these comments LOL
"He has seen your ID and he's lookin right at your face, both say that you're over 30"
My personal favorite line haha
One thing that annoys me is that back when Shane was the Oprah of the internet and everyone loved him, people would always be like “he’s an OG of RUclips. I’ve been watching him for years. He’s the reason I wanted to do RUclips’s. Blah blah blah” which means they watched all his problematic content and had no issue with it until someone else told them it was problematic.
"unbiased" 💀💀 i can't believe shane tried to convince us of this lmao
Nothing hits quite like hearing Shane Dawson say he’s poor when you have $17 to last you the next week and a half
Nick-'Shane just say what u mean, it's less cheesy'
Also Nick-Immediately segues into cheesy intro for ad from sponsor
😂
I don't like to think Shane has the self awareness to be honest about it.
Andrew was definitely forced to laugh at some point when Shane realized we loved him
Exactly! I didn’t think it till now but it’s so obvious after his content with Garrett, where he laughs because Garrett is actually interesting and funny
@@Aether_starinalso before he was revealed as the camera man, he never made a peep
i'm sorry i can't BELIEVE people liked shane. and some people still like him. incomprehensible. unbelievable. at least oprah is charismatic. shane has all the misinformation and none of the enjoyable content.
I did find him funny, but also that time I was thinking that being friends with boys are cooler, cause less drama 🤡🤡🤡
I definitely thought he was "relatable" at one point. Or his squad was. I found his "docuseries" at time I was super lonely and just wanted a squad like his to make jokes and go on adventures with.
@@daskevica aw girl, its okay! At least you are on the brighter side now. Women and girls are awesome!
It always use to bug me when Shane would say stuff like "Im poor". Its like....dude look at the nice house you LIVE in. You are not poor. You going to Wal-mart is because you like it, not because you need it.
"This is an unbiased docuseries!"
*Dumbledore said calmly*
I love that Shane’s humor is just making dumb faces, talking bad about himself and Andrew laughing behind the camera and people found it comedy gold.
this was such a wild time on youtube, the way these creators had me fooled makes me greeeeen
Literally same 😭 I love that we're all having this collective experience of cringe 😂😂
Same! My sister and me went from eating up all content that was Jeffery and Shane, to checking how much their subscriber count dropped every hour. I haven't seen a Jefferey vid since he broke up with Nate😭😭
Same 😭 I feel so embarrassed that not only I ate that series up, but also bought that ugly palette
@Smiya Coron girl so am i 😭
@@mydreamisgreeceSAAAAAME. I hate looking at that pallete, and half the colours are fugly.
I want to putty over the conspiracy part to make it a little more tolerable.
This is the correct level of involvement with this mess for me. I could not, under any circumstances, watch this series. But watching Nick tear it apart? Yeah, I can handle that.
Bridge to Terabithia was in 2007, & it’s still too soon for those jokes.
Fr😭😔
I believe the book was from earlier, though? Not sure.
@@missbraindamage yeah I believe the book was from the 1970s
I loved that movie, but I was never able to watch it again.
The original one was from 1985 and it's still too soon.
Shane could make a 6 part series and film in a private jet but couldn’t afford 2 lapel or hair mics to avoid god awful noise. Truly priorities of a professional documentarian
Let’s summarize:
The documentary was going to be drama centric, but lawyers got involved. So they flipped it last minute, re-edited everything and wasted everyone’s time with a 5 hour commercial.
Why did Lawyers get invovled? I mean even if it was drama centric it would still be boring. Cause both of them seem boring AF.
@@CherryBlossomBlyue because saying things about James and Tati could be slander. Especially at that point before everything went to shit and James got outed again.
Trust those people are lawyered up like crazy.
You're right, Nick. He's a poor film maker, not as a film maker who doesn't have that much money or properties, but as a film maker who is terrible.
Here faster than Shane exited the beauty world after not really ever even having been in it at all... 💅💄
Shane did more blackface than actual make-up and that's on that.
@Chelsea I was literally about to comment that like who tf wanted to buy makeup from someone whose only experience with it was blackface!?
@@TahtahmesDiary right? Also the fact that he constantly have shit on makeup during his podcast days and literally said he hated the feel of makeup on his face and would barely let the makeup artist touch his face. He literally got into it because he was fascinated by the drama, not the actual makeup.
When I tell you I laughed way to much when he said “I’m sorry when did penny wise the clown become interested in amateur videography”, I literally did. 10:42
THANK YOOOOU! ME TOO!!
I love how you make sure there are captions. It makes a difference. Just seeing some real captions with punctuation makes a world of change in reading comprehension and speed.
they’re glorified vlogs, they’ve never been “documentaries”
Shane: I'll come back soon!
Nick: Not if I have anything to say about it
As someone who’s afraid of heights and flying, I wouldn’t be questioning or freaking out every five seconds because that only just worsens the anxiety. I also never continuously expressed my fear even when I was younger; I just shut up and cried silently on planes lmao 😂
i cant believe it was made in 2019 holy shit time flies
Shane pretending to be super freaked out about flying has the same energy when tana was being a spoiled brat at a doctor's office.. Is this what happen when you become a famous internet star? You start to believe that every situation you're in must be told and felt by everyone in immediate surroundings...
Me: I'm going to bed
Nick: * uploads this bombshell *
Me: I'm never sleeping again
I was bout to take a nap lol
I was supposed to be getting ready for work.
Why he includes his friend Brittany Louise Taylor’s abuse in there is lost on me
Thank you! It didn't make any sense. Plus I felt like it was disrespectful to her to include it.
Exactly! To mix in her story with I believe Chuckie Cheese pizza theories was so so strange
As someone who didn't know who she was, it was nice to see and learn about her and her own past - I had to skip past the pizza part to watch hers - its a shame shane (lol) had to be the one to deliver it
Finally, someone who thinks Andrew off-screen laugh is annoying
no seriously i like andrew but he needs to tone it down like most of the time I could tell it was fake laughter but ik he did it bc the audience liked it- he's not like that on his podcast so that's cool
He is a lot more bearable when he's just without Shane and with Garrett
For regular videos, it didn't bother me. But for a "docuseries" that is supposed to be a lot higher quality than the rest of his videos, it definitely did lol
Vlog squad energy 🤡🤡🤡
He is like a live studio audience, so annoying
Yay, now I can finally “watch” this series without clicking and giving the original views. I’ve avoided it for this long just waiting for someone to break it down
one of my biggest frustrations with this series is that the cover song used for the opening credits gets the damn lyrics wrong. the CORRECT lyric is “it’s the time OF the season FOR loving.” ugh.
THANK YOU! dude when this came out I left comment on how it would feel better as a watcher to not have andrews laugh every 5 seconds. You can guess I got ATTACKED. It was just so hard to take seriously lol
Lol very distracting!!
This "docuseries" was the first Shane Dawson content I ever saw and I just remember being so confused to why everyone loved this man.
Nick over here coming for the Shade Crown & I'm so excited for this series!
Please don't stop until you've eviscerated every last piece of Shane's content. 😊
Hearing Shane joke about being poor used to make me kinda uncomfortable, his room is probably the size of my apartment 🙃 , and i thought I was the only one who felt that way
my jaw dropped when i saw this notification i can't wait for your takes
Shane always feels the need to raise the stakes by saying he has a deep fear of something in the video. “I have a fear of flying” “I have a fear of ghosts, going bald, etc.”
why does he make the decision to do that shit in these videos if hes sooo scared 😭
Side note, when he kept telling Molly Burke one of his greatest fears is going blind, I was like.....okay. I'm sure she finds this conversation totally unique and invigorating. (Imagine me rolling my eyes for sarcastic emphasis.)
You could make a 12 part clip breakdown on his 6 part series... I have no issue with that
by the time I process one joke the next one comes and i'm dying at all of them. and the way they get progressively more unhinged.. you're hilarious
