It’s a Friday night. You’ve got No Mercy booted up on your Nintendo 64. You’re allowed to stay up late. You’ve got Pizza Hut, Cheetos and coke by your side. No school tomorrow. The year is 2022. You’re 32 years old
Lol same. Well actually I just typed in "dig dig diggity dog". Just popped into my head, because it never left. Me and my brother sing it as kind of an inside joke no context, just because of all the hours we spent listening to it in the background. And it's not like we even talked it about it, it just permeates into everyones head like a scientifically designed memetic device. If you've ever left the game on the title screen, this will stay with you for life.
Dig dig diggity, dig diggity dawg. Break it. Dig dig diggity, dig diggity dawg. Ugh! Socko. Break it. Heh heh heh heh. Ugh! This track has got to be one of the most insidious earworms ever, and I love it.
Oh, the memories. Beating the story mode for every belt, unlocking all the characters, all the movesets, having a mental breakdown after all my files got deleted thanks to having one of the buggy cartridges. Good times...Good times.
It will always will be, I am not a nostalgia guy and and I usually always support new games, but no mercy is different this game will always be the best wrestling game ever
I came here after watching NXT's No mercy PLE last night ! I ''marked out'' when they briefly used the game's intro and this soundtrack into the show intro segment !
God! If they ever did a behind the music episode just for this piece of music. "We felt like socko really brought the song together, and probably illustrated what we wanted to express as artists." 🤣
Apparently, this track was composed by the same composer who worked on the Clock Tower games, Kouji Niikura. The idea that someone could go from writing tense horror game music to this is hilarious.
it gets old immediately, then you tolerate it, then it grows on you, then you're bobbing your head and diggity-dogging along, then 20 years later you still think about it randomly unprompted.
interesting choice to include an avant garde track for the title menu wwf always was on the forefront of alternative means of artistic expression (aka imagineering)
It was more cause the games were made by japanese developers who were into this kind of stuff, most of the late 90s and early 2000s wwe games had weird music like this. SD 2 Know Your Role is another great example. You never heard this kind of stuff in wwf programming tho haha
@@MBM1117727 it was different but I liked the idea of WWF having music specifically made for this game instead of what they do with their games now just grabbing any mainstream rap or rock song for the soundtracks.
It works, though. As far as N64 music goes, I believe this is track is one of the most well-aged on the console. Most N64 music was either MIDI-based or horribly compressed. This track works because it's simple with short, decent-quality audio samples and electronic lead and bass.

Damn, this just reminds me of a simpler time. A time where the only thing I was expected to do was wake up, play a video game and not shit on myself. If I managed to do it all, everyone was happy.
The fact that you specifically listed not shitting on yourself as one of your requirements for existing on a daily basis, leads me to believe that you, in fact, did not succeed at that part.
