good test, good idea doing it but it's slightly subjective in a way. Prep quality, paint layers and these minor others stuff. based on the test it seems that the length of time the angelus held up far outreached any inconsistencies between doing both shoes exactly the same so that good to know. there's always the question as to is the most popular brand better than another or is it just most advertised.
Just randomly stumbled across ur vids great stumble honestly subscribed n all that I like that u do real world based vids bro actual useful info without the hypebeast fluff about to order some of that missile magic in the A.M again good shot bro
@RaleighRestorations had another question for you bro, ive been airbrushing with angelus and 2-thin but the whole angelus delays and 2-thin selling out has got me wondering, any alternatives you would use for airbrushing with angelus paints? Got a few customers waiting on there customs and seeing if i can figure something out. Appreciate you bro
You can airbrush angelus paint directly IF your needle is 0.5mm or bigger, AND if your paint has been stored the right way and isn't too old (with time it could get a bit thicker), as it is stated on angelusdirect.com faqs. If the paint is old, or your needle is maybe 0.4, 0.35mm or smaller, you will need a thinner. I think any thinner works, not just angelus'. You could also try with water, distilled water should work best, angelus paints are water based anyway so it shouldn't be a problem. Hope this helps!!
i dunno if it changed since but jacquards airbrush paint says it works on many diff surfaces . "FABRIC/FIBER/SURFACES natural and synthetic fabric, leather, vinyl, canvas, wood, paper, rubber, plastic, clay, metal and more"
in order to get the color I'm looking for I'm considering blending (mixing) the Jacquard Neopaque with the Angelus to use on some leather dining room chairs. Anybody have any experience with this? I've used both brands, and I've added pure pigment to Angelus products with success before, though not fond of the finish (slightly tackier) . would love to hear if anyone has done this. Essentially I'd like to use Neopaque Volt 450 because it'll cover nicely over a very dark deep teal, but the value is a bit more intense than I'd like, so hoping to soften it with the Avocado, and maybe a little Cream, or Vanilla til I get it where I want it. Will likely airbrush.
Yes it can, you'd need to protect the side of the sole (midsole area) with something like our "scratch resistant sealer" as well as install a soleshield for the bottoms (actual bottom that touches the ground when wearing). You can learn more about the sealer, its uses, as well as a promo code for the sole shields in this video ruclips.net/video/iSfSBC-Sw3o/видео.html
@@ForResalePurposesOnly i tried U.S. art supplies but it's only good for airbrushing a sock liner or shoes that are fabric on leather it's terrible and cracks fast. leather studio I've only done with brushes haven't run it through an airbrush yet because it goes on really even with just a brush two coats for real they don't have a lot of colors in stores some you'll have to order and or make yourself and it mixes good with the additives from angelus like the matte finish and duller gac 900 ect.
Good Question! That canvas is an entirely different process in which there are 'many' ways to paint/dye them depending on your desired look and result! We cover all of those and much more in our e-Book "Dyes 101" (as well as suede, nubuck, mesh, knit, rubber soles, plastics etc) if you'd like to learn how! If you're hesitant, you can always grab one of our e-books for free! bit.ly/2lZeCnQ
Nope, when I go onto their website it will only load the uk version and you can’t buy the ultimate kit, the towel, the bowl or the eraser, there are a few more things that have been taken off too ?
@@rileysmith9276 Hmm that is strange, I'm not sure if it's inventory or if they simple don't stock (or ship) those items there :( I'll try to reach out to them and see what's up!
Hi bro, I'm NEW on custom about midsoles... I have a Big problem. Every time I paint these parts of the shoes.. Cracks on the 3rd use.. Im using ángelus paint with 50%/50%ratio of 2-hard And white... After that I apply a coats of mate finisher but it still cracks on... Can you recomend me something please... Or a "recipe" to paint with coats... I miss something? Thanks for the video bro!
Nedelcu Daniel i use acetone at the beginning to get the old paint off. And I either use Angelus matte finish or krylon matte spray. I paint with hand brushes.
Sand with 400 800 and 1200 , degrease, angelus deglaze or acetone, adhesion promoter, light coats of paint!, heat between coats. 15 min between coats. Clear and enjoy.
Would you say jacquard is a closer white for Jordan's? I always notice the white when I do my repaint on jordan 8s leather for example is a little off to the original when I use angelus
Yes, Jaquard's Neo Opaque white is a more true white to DS jordans. The issue with trying to "touch up" white leather on worn shoes, is the white on the shoe has aged from dirt, wear, oxidation, etc. When you drop fresh white paint on there, it's not going to match. We generally try to avoid painting in those cases, but if there is a scuff/scratch that needs to be covered, we recommend repainting all the white leather panels so they all have the same "age". Hopefully that made sense!
I would not recommend that. You probably went too heavy with the sealer if it's looking a a bit cloudy/ashy. I would add one more light coat of paint to get the color solid again!

E-Book not free anymore? If so where can I get it from.
how do we get the ebook?
Unfortunately we merged with another company and had to discontinue the e-books due to a non-compete agreement :(

This was a great test! Wonder if the jacquard airbrush paint hold up similarly to the neo opaque?.
Thats what we all want to know 🤯😁
Took a few months to make, but finally got the info you needed! 👍

any 'acrylic reducer/medium" should work. I imagine createx and several other brands have options!
would you recommend adding angelus 2 hard or gac 200 to paint when painting midsoles?
Yes i do, and use sand paper to create space for the paint to adhere

Sup with the midsole ebook tho?
can you show the proper way to use angelus with a air brush? cause I know with jacquard you can put it right in the air brush.
Add thinner to Angelus
run the paint thru a fine filter first then add thinner 1:1
angelus amkes an additive for airbrushing
Great video!
Can angelus paint be used to paint purple sole like on the 'Nike sf-af Hi purple'?
I would like to paint whole shoe in white.

GREAT JOB THANKS FOR YOUR VIDEO
Thanks for watching!
toebox should be the ultimate test
Do I need to use scratch resistant sealer when painting the strap on a huarache?
Yes
5:35 angelus is the best!
Leather studio has decent paint and mor flexible than angelus and jaquard
Just had a hobby lobby open up near me, might have to go experiment with some! Never heard of it before, thanks!

Nix the 2 hard as that's only needed for hard materials that paint doesn't stick to!
Gud job
great test btw - thanks for doing this!

Can you do a video on how much does toebox creasing hold
My angelus white starts cracking after just 1 casual wear! It’s making me crazy. What am I doing wrong ?
are you using a finisher and acetone at the beginning

Which is better for mesh and fabrics? Angelus or Jacquard?
Depends on a lot of factors. Technically both and other products/dyes. We cover it entirely in "dyes 101" bit.ly/2nFz0vt

No finisher on either shoe, just straight up paint!

I used the scratch resistant seal on my leather uppers and they’re kinda ashy. Is it okay if I put in some body lotion to have it buttery again?
I would not recommend that. You probably went too heavy with the sealer if it's looking a a bit cloudy/ashy. I would add one more light coat of paint to get the color solid again!
