Just came across this video, I just did my own Barbie version of Ariel with a custom latex mermaid tail and added two sisters one red brunette and one blonde with a yellow goldish tail. 😂😂😂
If I remember correctly, they did have the Tails connected to the dolls at the tail, but that meant the packaging was so large that it was hard to handle. Idk why they dropped the cloth fins. My only guess are costs.
Mermaid dolls with hard plastic tails made by Mattel always have disconnected fins from the tails in the box. It would actually be odd er, unusual for Mattel if the fins were pre attached. Outside of that, I know right? it can be very difficult to just find a CLASSIC movie accurate Disney Princess doll and if they are accurate they will have flat feet or something.
The pixelation really is the worst because Mattel is giving us better head sculpts but then ruining it with these pixelated faces. Other than that though, the dolls are pretty cute.
I agree…outside of the pixelation, these head molds (at least for Arista and Aquata) are near ideal. The pixelation of recent years serves a detriment to the experience of doll collecting. I’m kind of curious why we only see it on Barbie and Disney and not Monster High when they’re all produced by the same parent company, but I’m guessing that recognition and possibly the idea that “it will move off the shelves no matter what,” coupled with the pixelation is probably less expensive, is the root cause.
Thanks a lot for the review. I didn't know these are coming out. The dolls look pretty lovely - minus there could have been a bit more print on the tails. But since you are rebodying them anyway it is rather an academic thought. Actually I prefer the original look and feel of the dolls over the life action dolls. Not that I dislike the life action dolls - it is just a preference.

If you want to rebody the newer Ariel dolls the Kira BMR is a perfect match, you'll just have to repaint the green nails :p
