      I would've agreed for the first few videos but Awa can clearly be seen in this video looking at the orange shirt guy right before his match with Jonas and he's clearly taking on the advice. There is clearly a massive language barrier for him though since he can't speak English so he's just going off visual instructions. @@Chrontard Some people think that the only real way to armwrestle is elbows in the table, hand and wrists straight the whole time and then side pressure for the pin. Basically how amateurs do it. Just straight side to side, but that has no technique, no richness.
      If you armwrestle, you'll quickly find that the biomechanics of the body will take you to positions you didn't expect, because you're desperately trying to win. If you outlaw every little technique, every position other than center table posting side to side, then the match will constantly get stopped by the refs because armwrestlers don't armwrestle that way.
      Everyone grows up with different conceptions of armwrestling, what should be allowed and what shouldn't. That's why I think freedom armwrestling is best, or as few rules as possible.

    When I watch Larry get trained and then Larry perfume trained techniques I realize one thing. He hasn't come to an understanding of the concepts of the teachings. Once he does this, he will use the tips and techniques learned properly and will be a beast. Seems like when he loses and wins it's not from a lack of strength or possible technique but the culmination and understanding to put those two together in unison.

    • @Hallowed_Ground
      @Hallowed_Ground 3 года назад +8

      He is lacking technique, though. Putting technique and strength together is always the finishing piece, like the keystone of an arch, but Larry needs to have that technique in the first place to apply it.
      Some people are so much better are understanding the technique than others, but Larry is probably in the middle of that spectrum. He doesn't learn super slowly but he doesn't learn quickly at all either. He'll get there, but it's taking a while.

    • @justspacing9031

    • @Hallowed_Ground
      @Hallowed_Ground 3 года назад +6

      @@justspacing9031 He's definitely slow compared to people who learn it quickly, but I know it'd be harder for me to learn if I was on camera and surrounded by people. Technique is much easier to learn in a calm environment with one or just a few people, at least for me. Larry isn't as camera shy as I am but I'd imagine it all still has an impact. But yeah, he kinda doesn't understand what people are trying to tell him to do, but then a lot of people don't.
      I'm often surprised by how often people greatly struggle with simple thingslike cupping, supination and pronation. Basic movements that are seemingly simple take a long time for some to acclimate their body to I guess

      @MelbourneMaster 3 года назад +13

      He is strong but way too slow. If he by chance get a good position on schoolboy its possible he can pin him. But schoolboy has the advantage on the table. He knows how to transition in every aspect on the match. My guess is that schoolboy will gain handcontrol and leverage within the first 0.5 sek after the go and Larry wont be able to counter. Larry is too slow on the techniques, he needs to think about them to perform it. For schoolboy it comes natural by now.

    Larry, one thing about learning AW, ALWAYS pay attention to the attributes of the person giving you tips. If you are not built like them with their levers then your style will be different from theirs. Short guys teaching you to have a highly Lat dragging style doesn’t make sense brother. You aren’t a small guy and you won’t use drag as the primary force in your hook. Most pullers who give out tips never consider that they are built differently and pull differently.
    Keep killing it!

    • @IceCreamJUSTICE

      Noted. True, i obsess on the dragging part.

    • @AWDerek
      @AWDerek 3 года назад

      Spaghettiman he is hooking not pressing. When you focus on dragging your lat with a long arm it tends to lower the lever. A much more efficient style of hooking with his length of arm is maximizing height and tightness.

      It probably did, but in a good way. The more he gets humbled in a nice way the less he seems to feel like he "needs" to win every practice pull to shelter his ego. Between the new guy and Larry he's got two guys that can give him real trouble, the kind that will force him to learn better technique, and to do so, he'll have to learn how to practice pull. He could easily turn into a great armwrestler and form some real bonds of mutual respect and admiration over the next 6 months if he keeps at it and doesn't get discouraged.
