Experience the Broadway Neighborhood with Snapchat AR and SMHM

Snapchat's augmented reality capabilities offer us an exciting new way to share the story of how the I-10 freeway expansion forever altered Santa Monica’s Broadway Neighborhood. The Quinn Research Center and the Santa Monica History Museum worked closely with Snapchat and Lens Creator Andre Elijah to ensure that each historical element of the museum's Broadway to Freeway exhibition could be accessed through an AR Lens.
Utilizing historical photographs, City-Scale technology brings the exhibit to life outside, inviting viewers to walk along a route to witness a thriving community full of schools, homes, and businesses. This innovative AR experience provides context and insight into this historic neighborhood's past, and what it might have looked like today.
