So I remember learning this in PE class at Grant Elementary in Sheboygan, WI when I was 9-ish (1980-ish). I'm 52 now. It was a blast! it's a great memory for me.
I taught tiniking to 4th - 6th grade elementary students in my PE classes. We only did several basic steps but they loved it! I would put it into folk dance programs and the parents enjoyed it very much. I was so proud of my kids.
Did a muuuuch less involved version in elementary school and performed it during a yearly Gym Show in Johnstown, PA in the 90's. I miss it and am so thankful to see it here. I'd love to learn this advanced version.
Remember doing this in the fifties in elementary school to my knowledge also done in Africa ,and Native Americans do it as well ,not sure where it originated from though.
my principal bought us rubber band tinikling so we can do it for PE 💀💀💀 she knew damn well i was filipino too everyone turned to me when she showed this video to the class
This is really cool to watch unless you have next-door neighbors that practice this 24/7 in their open garage. I literally can’t take it anymore. I can’t have my doors or windows open, and it’s driving me nuts!
I am here too because my reading response assignment is related to cultural appropriation and cultural appreciation.😁 And I am a Filipino, I have to make a reflection.

I remember doing a simple version of this dance in school (1970s?). It was lots of fun and I don't remember any of the other dances we learned.

I think it's cool to see a full American to do tinikling. This is very cool.
I'm a elementary P.E. teach here in FL. and i just learned a new way to approach teaching tinkling
We didn’t learn how to square dance but, we learned Tinikling Bamboo Dancing when I was in 5th grade.

i can relate to your comment-
My fourth grade teacher Ms Ross taught our class this and she said it was from Africa
You're wrong. It originated in the Philippines. Specifically in Leyte Island.,
@@La_LangThey didn't make the claim. Their teacher did😐. Reading is fundamental and so is Tinikling.
I used this video for my class project.
Same

I watched this with my class
that moment you realize you only came here because of zombies 2
Tinikikling are getting faster as the music goes by
And the cross ✝️ one called singkil a filipino dance 500 year's ago
It reminds me to Ida's dance in Malcolm in The Middle.
Hahaha that's what brought me here! And Ida did it with one leg!
happy and sad how foreigners are doing our dance while in our country, they already forgotten the culture.
I think if you use four bamboos at the same time, it's called 'singkil'.
Watch the culture vultures like Kim & Beyonce do this dance and claim as their own. I saw this in person ad loved it.
I don't believe Bey will be caught doing this, but read the top comment. Cultures are always stolen like cornrowed hair.
I came here because this is Ida´s dance in Malcolm in the middle.
Is this even legal now
yup
Wow
tinikling is a game?
nope it's a dance
Noo, its a tradisyonal dance..
Africans have this same dance
nice
Mmmmmm , this dance originated in Africa as far as I am aware
You need extra legs for this dance
Is this cultural appropriation...?
Yeah
Its cultural appreciation, because they talk about its origin whilst appreciating the art form.
No it's cultural appreciation and participation.
I am here too because my reading response assignment is related to cultural appropriation and cultural appreciation.😁 And I am a Filipino, I have to make a reflection.
No, they are respectful of the history, origin and culture behind it.
Well search. CHERAW.
