This interview made me miss Jada in a way that we haven’t seen her in a while. This is how and why we came to love her. The public zeitgeist has a way of marring and misshaping that. Thank you Lena for portraying her in the way that we should revere her. As a golden queen of the screen. Her artistic contribution and how she portrayed the young Black woman of the time shaped our generation. She gave the “around the way girl” regality and substance. Which then made way for the future Taraji’s and Teyana Taylor’s and such. 🙏🏿✨👑
I like Jada. I’ve been a fan since A Different World. I know there are ppl that only associate her with her husband but Jada has had a very solid career. Shout out to her for all of HER accomplishments!
Jada deserves so much more respect than what she gets. Lena is correct that Jada absolutely provided a cultural shift every time she stepped onscreen. There were many Black actresses who I appreciated seeing growing up, but Jada was different. She felt like a real person who got the opportunity to play in such a fantastical world while bringing her realness to it. I appreciate everyway she has chosen to show up in the spaces of art, media and entertainment. She is one of a kind.
Jada deserved this so much. Thank you Lena for reminding us all of her gift. Thanks for allowing us to see you give a living legend her flowers while she’s still alive. ❤
Thank you someone giving this women her flowers……. Call her what ever you want but I bet all y’all haters still look at every Jada pinkkett movie till this day
I’m crying now again. Yes! Lisa Nicole Carson definitely a gem. So miss her presence on the screen. I agree. A God wink for sure on the name Lena. I love seeing Lena’s eyes light up when speaking to her guest . She’s an interviewer but her adoration for each of her guest in apparent. That Peaches role was for Jada. What’s for you is for you I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing that character. Thank you Jada for breathing life into so many amazing relatable characters that made us think, laugh & cry. Thank you Ms. Waithe. These conversations giving ! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Loved this conversation! JPS is so iconic, talented, gorgeous, authentic, full of wisdom & depth. She is one of one and very much needed back on our screens. It's so good to remind those who might sleep on her talents in front of & behind the lens... that she was n STILL is THAT girl! This podcast is refreshing, provides a safe space for the guests & allows each person interviewed to be shown in their true light 👏🏾
This was a phenomenal interview. Jada being part of an iconic family unit has honestly distracted from how iconic her acting resume is. Phenomenal actress with range!!
How Iconic Peaches was and to know Rosie Perez was the actress in mind is mind blowing. I couldn’t even imagine anyone else in that role! See how the universe works in the way it’s suppose to 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾.
I have much respect for Jada especially after the recent years. She’s a revolutionary woman. I’m glad when I see her pop out, do interviews etc. She has a particular type of resilience that black women keeping it real can relate to. This was great Lena, you had me giggling during that Matrix piece and I love that Jada didn’t go there with you. This reminded me I gotta read her book. Much love to Jada ❤
I would have loved to hear a bit more about her being a leading lady on TV on HawthoRNe- I loved her on that and was sad it was canceled. Great conversation!
What a beautiful and important piece of history you're documenting, Lena! I've watched all of these and am so here for the verbal and visual bouquets you are giving these excellent people. Seeing and hearing you express your gratitude to Jada and her receiving it is such a treat. Capturing these words at the end was such a loving and important part of what I think makes your channel special. "That is how much you mean to me... I'm grateful for you...all the girls out there who are a little bit tougher- not because we want to be, but because we have to be...I love you. I appreciate you. I'm happy that we have this conversation on record, so it can forever live, so people can know that we existed" -Lena Waithe to Jada Pinkett Smith Please keep creating! I'll certainly keep watching!
Hearing Lena go over some of Jada's work took me back to a special time. My sister and nephew love A low down dirty shame. I'm so glad to see this celebration of her and her work❤!
Never realized until Lena speaks so, how Jada really gave us 'tough' girls permission to Be ourselves. Deeply grateful...wonderful convo, wish it were longer. Much love n Many blessings ❤
Jada is a generational talent/icon for many of us millennial aged black women. From a different world, to Jason’s lyric, menace to society!!! Pls. Yall ain’t takin Jada away from us. And she looks BEAUTIFUL here. Rooting for her.
Now this the Jada I can watch and listen to, no Red Table. Lena, I love how up close and personal you are with your guest. You do your homework. Of course wish it was an hour. Too many podcasts out here, but I will sit and watch this.
Jason's Lyric, her acting is so beautiful and I love her artistry ❤ I remember when i was like 10 years old reading her article by Sistah Souljah, she said she would sacrifice her career for her family -- I felt immediately I was concerned for her and this idea. Flash forward I'm so glad to see her and her wisdom shining. Ease be. Love Jada ❤
these are really excellent for the generation- makes me think of Like It Is and how much generous time is given to Black Actors to speak about their process❤❤
Jada is and will always been an ICON. I’m still mad people even ATTEMPTED to make her a villain especially in regards to some grown ass men who are more than able to make their own choices. The hate train she experienced really opened my eyes to the innate hatred for women so many people hold.
I love how Jada really breaks down every aspect of building up a character and the journeys of being on set working with different people in a variety of environments. Sooooooo gooood!! Lena asks GREAT questions and delivers them in a timely way which to me, is even more important. I'm taking notes!! **Subscribed**
I absolutely love this interview 🙌🏾 ❤️!! I appreciate you appreciating Jada out loud because she deserves it!!! I too is fan of Jade and felt/feel the exact same way. It was her character on A Different World that reflected my stance in college (Grambling). I remember my mom would call on campus and every episode to tell me this girl is you😅😅😅. I appreciate you both and your authentic spirit and talent ✨️ I am late to the channel but will go watch the other interviews. I love this channel!!!
Wow!! That’s was good good ♥!! It was so easy like a Sunday morning…the convo just flowed…and most importantly, it reminded people of who the F Jada is!! The ending was so heartfelt and beautiful. Thank you for this interview 🙏🏾.
top 10 Best interviews I've seen this year! and I STAY on RUclips, because Lena was PREPARED and she had a personally connection with her roles by way of inspiration and even her name it allowed us to see how Lena from a different world became Peachez from Low down Dirty shame then became Naomi from the Matrix and Stony from Set it off to lyric in Jasons lyrics (which i think is so underrated along with the inkwell) it shows the journey of a somewhat Banjee girl becomes a zen and fully realized woman mother and business woman and wife!!! I've been hoping people would see Jada like this because I really have always loved her and i think she is an ICON in cinema and especially black cinema. No one knows THE WHOLE story of peoples lives so we shouldn't always jump to persecutions. And just to remind the folks!! AUGUST is the one that brought up the situation with jada! AUGUST not Jada but jada had to respond so she did on her show that she owns. WILL already knew and WILL was doing dirt as well if you read the book and watch the red table. LETS stop always going at the BLACK WOMEN PLEASE there's always more to a story.
I’m just getting started on this interview. But I will LOVE Jada forever ever ♥. It will ALWAYS be A Different World for me!! I can watch the entire series from top to bottom - TODAY and it will never get old. She’s truly one of a kind and nobody can take her talent and just IT quality from her. Ok, I’m done. Back to the episode lol. ~ Vernae~
Would've loved to have heard them discuss Demon Knight and Woo. Great interview! Shout to Lena for recognizing and highlighting Jada's work because these folks be acting like they don't remember. Please don't play with Jada's resume.
Another dope episode. I love this show. It is all about legacy, not salacious b.s. Every guest is well deserving of their flowers and respect for what they've contributed to the culture, the world, and our lives. Shout out to Lena for recognizing and doing this. I'd love to see Nia Long and Regina King. Fukk it, all of black Hollywood 😂

THIS! Like I loved Jada before she became Pinkett-Smith chile. She BEEN her own woman. 😍💕🥰

A lot of Lena's work is based on old school movies and TV shows. You can tell she pulls from this nostalgia when she makes her films
