Yes, you're right. In fact, if you see her lips closely right after she calls the A, she said "I know what it is." But she was too embarrassed to solve it. What were they thinking using a word like that for a puzzle on WOF, a family-friendly game show? I would've said absolutely not for that word.

What were the staffs thinking to put that obscure word as the puzzle?! I’m glad it never happened again after this inappropriate puzzle in front of the kids at home and in the audience! I watched wheel when I was little and thank goodness I didn’t watch that episode because of the puzzle so I wouldn’t have any idea what the puzzle was!

@matthewcasiglio2539 Actually, the Surprise wedge debuted in the 1992-93 season, which was season 10. And I believe the Surprise wedge idea came with the commemorating of the show reaching its 10th season. At least that's what I heard Pat say about it on a clip from that season.

Pat, I will really miss you as I grew up with you on Wheel. However, you deserve some "me" time with family and friends and hope you enjoy it. Love Wanna but was hoping you both would leave together to begin Wheel's new era. Am hoping Maggie, as pretty as she is and as much as I like her, will not become the new Vanna. Too much nepotism on TV and in the entertainment world as is and it's time to move awy from that trend. I also hope the network will update the prize amounts to reflect the 2020s and move the show out of the 50s. It's good for modern shows to reflect the era in which they were created. This is one category that should never return to Wheel of Fortune. Seemed like a good idea at the time but it was not very well liked.
