This is my reaction to All Saints Day in Poland
In this video I react to Polish culture by learning about All Saints Day in Poland which is a day of respect that is beautifully observed in Poland every year.
Original Video - • A sea of candles and m...
Pamięć o bliskich którzy odeszli to bardzo ważna rzecz ❤️🇵🇱
It is most beautiful at night, when the entire cemetery is flooded with candlelight. you can really feel the community then
My PAMIĘTAMY I BĘDZIEMY PAMIĘTAĆ ❤😢
It's a bit strange to watch a video about All Saints Day in July, not in November. But it's a good video. In Poland it's a really special, unique day. It's not only to commemorate those who lived once, but to pray for them and to remember that as Christians we do believe their souls are alive and we will meet them again in future.
That day teaches us history but also emphaty and to celebrate the living once like family and friends. In my house every year we meet with our family at the cementery, having a chat and remember the dead once, later on we go for a dinner to my parents house with all the family. So it's also give us that bond. I think that's one of the things that makes us so "family" oriented nation's.
Really moving video. Thank you for sharing and for spreading polish culture, Mert. All the best!
All Saints Day is also known as All Hallows Day in English and the evening before is All Hallows Eve (wigilia Wszystkich Świętych in Polish).
SUPER!
You have to visit Poland soon
Yes, I believe everyone celebrates this way. Like 90% or so.
For me it's a day to visit the dead ones but also-what is in my opinion more important - to meet and dine with living family.
witaj. jestem Polakiem i polecam ci kanał ,,historia bez cenzury,, może nie jest to kanał tylko o Polsce ale na pewno znajdziesz tam interesujące filmy o Polsce. Pozdrawiam :)
lepiej, żeby oglądał ciekawehistorie.
It's also a Lithuanian tradition . Don't know about other countries. It's respect to those who gave their lives so we can live
❤❤❤
I love compasion and I feel it from U. U great man don't change that :P
By accident, I found out that Ferdynand Ossendowski was buried a dozen or so meters from the grave of my great-grandparents. He was one of the most famous Polish writers before World War II. In communist Poland, he was condemned to oblivion and exclusion from the nation's memory. This holiday is an opportunity for me to thank him for his achievements and books. In the old Slavic tradition, a candle or a lamp on the grave was supposed to prevent the spirit from getting out of the grave and harming the living. However, I am not absolutely sure if this is true.
Because most of polish people are Roman Catholic.
And we belive that exists life after death.
Jesus said so and i belive Him.
By the way -
He's risen😊
It was originally a pagan celebration called dziady that was adapted by christianity, the origin is clearly not christian.
@@kasiac3964Yes in Germany the same!
remember
dont travel in Poland 30.10-3.11
the whole Polonia & half of Poland travels on this days!
Actually, there are two days when we come to cemeteries to remember the dead from our families, fallen soldiers, heroes who gave their lives for our freedom and country. The first is All Saints' Day (all saints are remembered in the Roman Catholic Church that day), and the second is All Souls' Day (Pol. Zaduszki), when we remember our deceased loved ones. However, people come throughout the entire week, and even earlier and later, to cemeteries to honor the memory of the dead ones...
The life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living ❤
Cześć kolego lubię Cię jesteś spoko ziom
In Poland every family have this kind of story to tell cos 25% of whole nation died during WWII and few years after it.
This is where we differ from others - we remember, and when we stop remembering, we cease to exist. The only similar day is in Latin America, where Catholicism mixes with the old beliefs of primitive peoples, just like in Poland. All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day which is the day after are based on ancient, pre-Christian customs where we lit fires at graves on the longest night to warm the souls of the deceased so that they would not seek warmth in our homes and scare us.
Fun fact: All Saints Day is always cold, damp and foggy / rainy ;)
The opposite of the celebration of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ - "Corpus Christi", in 2024 was on Thursday, May 30, which is always sunny and warm.
EDIT:
Those white birch crosses remind me of the song "Biały Krzyż" by "Czerwone Gitary":
"Gdy zapłonął nagle świat
Bezdrożami szli przez śpiący las
Równym rytmem młodych serc
Niespokojne dni odmierzał czas
Gdzieś pozostał ognisk dym
Dróg przebytych kurz, cień siwej mgły
Tylko w polu biały krzyż
Nie pamięta już, kto pod nim śpi" (...)
"When the world suddenly caught fire
They walked through the wilderness through the sleeping forest
The steady rhythm of young hearts
Time marked the restless days
Somewhere there was smoke from the fire
Dust of roads traveled, shadow of gray fog
Only a white cross in the field
no longer remembers who sleeps under it." (...)
It's a beautiful song, worth a separate video.
@@MayaTheDecemberGirl Yes, it is.
7:12 In that moment I was randomly like "He is watching me" only because for no reason I have photo of Witold Pilecki pinned to my pin board and he is watching me. (I recommend movie called "Raport Pileckiego" movie telling his story, that's why I have his photo)
Btw, in Mexico they have Dia de los Muertos which in some way is similar to Wszystkich Świętych, it has the same purpose but is diffrent of course.
The sections of WWII museum in Gdańsk devoted to Capt. Witold Pilecki and Ulma family was famously (but secretly when it happened) altered a few days ago by deleting them from the exhibition. 😢
No way!Greetings from Germany
Dla mnie, ten dzień jest ważniejszy, niż skomercjalizowana Wigilia czy Wielkanoc, ale może to już kwestia wieku. Ps. to nie ma nic wspólnego z religią, tylko z szacunkiem dla zmarłych.
Dude, that is sad, like most of the suff in Poland recently. I have noticed that you are watching Polish stand up and movies. Please don't. They are awkward. Polish productions stopped to be funy after the movie 'Day of the wako' 2002 (Dzień Świra). What's happened after is a funeral of Polish sense of humour. Better if we bury it alone.
All Saints Day is to remember your loved family members that’s no longer with us.This is our catholic tradition and to care not only for your own family but friends also .This is nothing to do with hallowim.
People drive across entire country just to visit the families graves.
zaraz lewaki i tego zakażą 🙂
Coś z głową ?
