I like the little touches in their excellent acting, so subtle and nuanced. Like the way Johnny is 'possessive' of Murdoch and Scott - he gets that quizzical, somewhat suspicious look on his face when a new element is added into their circle, like Barker in this episode and Scott's grandfather in 'Legacy.' It's quite touching, how Johnny is so comfortable with his new-found family that he doesn't want to share them with anyone.
Johnny makes the show, looking for Murdoch's belief in him. Happy when Murdoch patted his leg in the guard house & reaching out for Murdoch & wanting the family he finally found to hild on to !! James Stacy was the epitome of Johnny!!!
I was 13 and a great fan of Lancer. Dad loved Bonanza and Gunsmoke. James Gregory was a fine character actor with a very distinctive voice. He showed up in a lot of different western series of the time. I remember him as Inspector Luger on Barney Miller and he was one of the apes in Beneath the Planet of the Apes. There's just no hiding that voice under a mask!
I LOVED THIS EPISODE, SIMPLY BECAUSE NO MATTER WHAT THEY DID OR DID NOT AGREE ON, THEY DID IT AS A FAMILY. THEY WILL ALWAYS HAVE EACH OTHER'S BACK. ESPIECALLY, SCOTT & JOHNNY. THEIR LOVE & AFFECTION FOR ONE ANOTHER IS ALWAYS & FOREVER. THEIR FATHER 'S BLOOD RUNS THICK IN THEIR VIENS, BUT THAT BOND OF BROTHERLY LOVE, RUNS JUST AS THICK. THIS EPISODE CONTAINS, LOVE, LIES, BETRAYAL, DECEIT, & DESPERATION, & PRIDE. EACH IS A STAB TO JOE BARKER(JAMES MCGREGOR) WHO HAS ONE LAST ROUNDUP IN MURDOCH LANCER(ANDREW DUGGAN). MURDOCH HAS BLINDERS ON. WHERE JOE IS CONCERN. EVEN WHEN JOHNNY(JAMES STACY) VOICES HIS OPINONS HE SHAKES IT OFF. AFTER AWHILE SCOTT(WAYNE MAUNDER) BEGINS TO FEEL THE SAME AS JOHNNY. BUT WHEN THERE IS A THREAT TO HIS SONS & TERESA(ELIZABETH BAUR) EVEN STATES HER FEAR THAT MURDOCH SEES HIS FRIEND IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT. IN THE LONG RUN EVERYTHING IS PUT BACK IN PLACE, AND THE LANCER FAMILY REINS SUPREME ONCE AGAIN. (NOTE) IRON & STEEL IS STRONG, BUT THE LANCER'S ARE STRONGER! KUDOS TO THE LANCER FAMILY A DEVOTED LANCER FAN 🎥💝😍
@LANCER FAN==Thanks!!! On BONANZA then to LANCER we find veteran actor JAMES GREGORY as the SHERRIFF on this LANCER episode!!!! Also seen here are ROBERT DOYLE as the convict** and JOHN MILLFORD as cowboy insulting GREGORY for being elderly!!!!
"olo3353," "Scott Johnny and Teresa r great together" -- spot on. . . . "Johnny and Teresa r typical sibling" -- not hardly. Johnny and Scott are half-siblings, but they couldn't be more different if they tried, as is made clear in the pilot. So how does that make either of them closer to sibling status with Teresa? Ed. - it doesn't. What, pray tell, is typical of a 25-year old, former gun hawk, Johnny Madrid, whose 'work' took him to both sides of the U.S. - Mexican border AND experiencing both sides of the law during which he was vastly experienced with the fairer sex; and a virginal, 17-year old female orphaned when her father is murdered during a range war? Individually, there's nothing typical about either one. Although Teresa tells Scott, whom she comes upon bathing in her presence in the pilot "just think of me as your sister," it's a very naive comment. While dealing with the sudden loss of her father, the foreman, his employer Murdoch is old enough to be her father. But viewers can imagine how she comes to appreciate two new individuals in the house closer to her age. Of the opposite sex and handsome too. With that, despite that, their respective lives and circumstances are considerably more complicated than that. "typical sibling lol" -- I don't get it. And the inclusion of "lol" is so over-used, 'tired'; and here, hardly seems appropriate. From one "Lancer" fan to another. Speaking of . . . "Thank you for posting 'The Lawman,' Lancer fan, and of course all the other 'Lancer' hours too."
@@scvandy3129 Quick correction. In the pilot, Teresa doesn't come upon Scott while he was bathing. He just got done shaving when Johnny walked in & was dressed. He was putting on his boots when she walked in. A bathing scene before or after she entered the room was never shown.
Walter D Wormack I asked about that before James Stacy died , he had all the copyrights and didn’t want to re-air them. I found this info on James Stacy’s fan page a few years back
"jimclark6256," . . . except for Johnny's, Teresa's and Murdoch's VERY FIRST SCENE where we see them out on the vast property, conceivably a few miles from the house, trying to free a calf from an entanglement in the brush so it can rejoin its mother. Not an easy task, as we observe. Would you have enjoyed the hour more if the next 54 minutes were spent watching them 'work the cattle' -- leaving NO TIME for the story? Ed. - that's not how television works.
Great Western...l love Johnny Lancer. Coolest cowboy ever

Lancer,Bonanza, Rawhide, Laredo, The big valley are all great westerns
I love that Scott would risk everything to follow his hunch about the pursuit.
Thank you for sharing this show. I have been looking for it for years. one of my favourites.
Thanks for great upload. Good visual & audio. Love opportunity to revisit these old episodes thanks to you. From Arizona, USA.

He was also a guest star on The Big Valley
Thanks. Great show.
I like how Murdoch stuck by Johnny the whole time and not give in to Barker's plea to let Johnny go. Murdoch loves his sons.
LANCER FAN FOR LIFE!!!!

You have to love the way Johnny handles his horse & the horse is strong and yet Johnny's hands are always so smooth and manicured!!
Always had a soft spot for Andy Duggan. BTW He was the original John Walton, with Patricia Neal as Olivia, and Richard Thomas as John Boy.
This show Rocks!
TARANTINO BROUGHT ME HERE.

Someone needs to put the bottle down.
Screen went vomlrylu black
Where did you find this great o gem? Do you know who played the female actress?
49:52 - 49:57 Elizabeth Baur as Teresa, in answer to " . . . who played the female?"
🙂🙂🙂
Really ?
Lorado
Characters are good. But script writing in this entire series was average to poor. Always predictable and often ridiculous.
Stupid story
