@@joshm3297 i get the interest rate initially but i think since i have expendable money coming my way this would be a good option for me to get the ball rolling right now and just pay it off in a few months. how was the process?
Best way to get into NV is to get a PVS-7 secondhand ($1300-1600) or GP PVS-14 ($2300-2800). Don't let people gaslight you into taking out a second mortgage to pay for WP duals initially. NV holds its value and if it comes time for you to upgrade, you can sell your original set for like 90% of what you bought it for. I'm an airborne infantry veteran, sample size of one, but I prefer an extremely high spec PVS-14 over budget duals at the $4000 price point.
Agreed. And I will add this for prospective buyers....Do not look through high end tubes if you plan on buying low/moderate end units because you will be disappointed. I got a chance to look through L3's latest & greatest commercially available tubes.....and would not be satisfied with buying anything less than.
My first night vision goggles were panos. I didn't have the pockets for thr the GPNVG 18 but I did get the QTNVG. I did purchase L3 Harris Gen 3 white phosphor, filmless tubes. All 4 tubes were around 2400 FOM. They cost me $13,000. After purchasing the housing and assembly they ran me, $21,500. I still need an IR laser though. I want to ditch the QTNVG housing for the Nocturn Industries Chimera Panoramic goggles. I cant wait for them to be available.
Gotta' ask...Why???? Why would you sink 21grand on a panos set-up and not even have an IR laser yet???? Panos when the highest spec dual set-up would be more than enough with $$ left over to buy your IR laser....and whatever else. No matter how justified, panos don't offer a significant increase in capabilities over duals that warrant the cost difference for the average civ dude. And some would make the same argument with duals against 14's. Nonetheless, I'd take duals over an empty wallet and neck strain any day...but...it's your money.
@@billydanzz I haven't gotten an ir laser yet as I'm still deciding. I just got them back a month ago. I may have to go with the B.E. Meyers Mawl. You echo many of my thoughts about civ night vision. Folks should really buy NV only if: A. Other kit and baseline training is squared away. B. You can afford it without going into debt, and or draining their family vacation fund, kid'(s) college funds, etc. C. If you know you'll have the TIME INVESTMENT to devote to training to achieve the minimum competency to actually engage an opponent. Note: This is training time *on top of* the time you are already devoting to daylight training. One can't really replace the other; these are two different skill sets. D. If you know that you have access to a range or land that allows for low light/night shooting (not as common as you might think). E. You have other team mates who are also NV equipped (don't get sucked into this lone wolf operator nonsense). If even one of these elements is missing, IMO, you should seriously rethink spending the money and focus on more productive time/money investments. As with everything else, be realistic about the likelihood you will have to use this. Don't invest this kind of money based upon some kind of movie plot you've conjured in your head or pipedream goonsquad aspirations that have little chance of happening in real life on planet Earth.
It’s time ‘night vision’ tech gets implemented into wrap around ‘protection goggles with 180°+ angle of views’ … the extreme narrow angle of view can be deadly … for you.
I truly believe digital is going to take over tubes in the near future. The exact same thing happened in the motion picture industry. Film was overtaken by digital. Just a matter of time. Moore's Law
Let's hope the digital night vision guys don't try to jump on the extremely high-priced train. At least the analog night vision manufacturers can justify their prices based on the high cost of making just one analog tube. I'm not too hopeful about this though seeing that Sionyx priced the Opsin at the price of a PVS-14 which is ridiculous.
You aren’t wrong. And weve handled units that nobody else in this nation has seen. It is coming, but it’s not what everyone thinks it will be. It will be ridiculously expensive at first, because the tech doesn’t exist in mass manufacturing. Once it’s mass produced, it will get less expensive, but for reasons we legally can’t even discuss, it will still be very expensive when you first experience it.
@Arkayne Co anything that is groundbreaking and brand-new is going to be expensive. The difference ultimately will be that the price will come down because of competition. Right now, we know where tubes come from. Same reason why thermal keeps getting cheaper and better. Once tube technology gets out of the way and digital gets better it will just make it easier and easier for new companies to pop up. Competition is the best thing for the consumer.
You know, I got the COD Ghost VIP package that has the night vision headset and Statue in the collectors set. I'm not gonna lie. That night vision set is actually really well made and functional. I figured it was just going to be some type of janky Walmart prop like thing, but I've used it many times night hunting for hog and even my friends with proper night vision are impressed with it
If you want it, get it when you can, because NV is not going to get any cheaper. The price precedent has already been set. This equipment doesn't follow the typical downward price trend of normal consumer electronics.
As a general rule you can find good night vision for about $1,000 per generation. You can get an aviation grade gen 3 white phosphor for about $3200 if you go with a pvs 14 and there are Chinese PEQ15 clones that are full power and durable for about $350. Level 3a helmets only cost a few hundred dollars as well. Boom full NV setup for about 4k.
Yes sir. 14's are an excellent option and the Chinese lasers are good for a hobbyist and training. That being said there is no way I would trust my life or my buddy's lives with one.
