I think a lot about him when I listen this song. So I made this tribute for my favourite singer and poet of my favourite band. I own nothing. The footage belongs to The Doors.
"That's the way my father made his life and art" That line always made me think he is a spiritual father for her and I've always associated this song with him so much, even if she doesn't even mention him here directly.
Wonderful video. It touched me to my core and made tear up... He deserved so much more true happiness.

Just want to release my thoughts and tell you how much this video means to me.
The past year I have slowly slipped into depression, for many reasons, and every day is a literal battle. I take it day by Day though. I really got into the doors a few months ago and especially Jim. An interest that quickly turned into an obsession. Reading, watching and listening to The Doors and Jim has become a safe space for me and it is the only escape that I turn too. About a month ago I came across this video and I remember the night so Vividly, a cold dark 2am and I watched it whilst looking out the window too. Something magical happened and I felt truly free. Every Day I watch this video at night, sometimes 2/3 times, and it is like some sort of ritual now. It is probably hard to believe how impactful this video has been on me, but I tell you truthfully it has massive. I really don’t know how to thank the creator of this video, but I would love the opportunity to try.
I am not sure what my intentions were in writing this, apart from just showing my appreciation. If you did manage to read this far, I thank you immeasurably and if the creator of this video is reading, I hope you understand that this creation has saved me from so many miserable nights and for that I’m struggling to thank you.

this "safe place" that they are is so magical, because I have seen many people with this same feeling (including myself). And that inspires me so much to want to make art that communicates with people and their inner being. I always sang and wrote, but it was only after I knew about The Doors that I was sure that this is what I want to do, that kind of inner freedom. Anyway, I'm happy not just because you liked the video, but for what It means to you. Stay strong. Wow that was every emotion but also perfect.
The largest difference between Morrison and Grant is that he could see 50 years into the future with his interviews, and she really doesn't have a finger on the pulse of today's society and where it's headed. She uses Morrison in several songs but doesn't understand history and it's lessons.
I love them both, but I understand what you're saying, though. I think she has a timeless quality, but Jim was kind of "universal", a visionary really, ahead of time

I always thought Lana Del Ray is like the female Jim Morrison if that makes sense?
Yes, it does. I already thought that one time. As I learned more about both, I see more differences than similarities today, but in general, I think both have a similar artistic persona, a deep, poetic and mysterious one.
You know, I always thought about Patti Smith like that, her Power onstage and rock and poetry (William Blake and Rimbaud) or Grace Slick. Them like females of Morrison too.
And sometimes I find Lana similar to Jack Kerouac (this doesn't make sense, haha, but I don't know) or Marylin Monroe (she already Said about feeling connected to Marylin somehow and they both became other identities.)
