Coming back to this through the years makes me so happy. Was there on that day at 8 years old, I'm now 25 and still have the visceral memory of both goals (helped by this video). UTB.
I will never forget the day we dropped out of the automatic promotion spots on the last day of this season, I decided making lasagne was the only way to deal and cried. My partner at the time (still a mate) came into the kitchen and said “I’m so sorry” it was the first hope I’d ever had as a Shrimper. Then this happened, and it was everything I had ever dreamed of! I’m reminded of it now as today, just for a minute, we are top of the league and we won 4-0. I tried not to love you, Southend. But you make it impossible not to love you 💙
i was there, i was at all 3 millenium stadium visits, this was a magic moment but not as good as winning the league the season after or even better than that beating Man Utd, Wembley this season maybe???
