Pat, I’m a retired IT project manager and my late husband was a pilot. He was an officer in the USMC and flew helicopters. He also obtained his private pilot’s license. We owned a Piper Comanche for a while. I went to ground school but did not take flying lessons. We took cross-country trips to Long Island and Michigan. And here we are, quilting!
I grew up with a father who flew small planes, was an Alaska Bush pilot after retiring, and continues to fly into his 80s. He and my brother have gone to Oshkosh a couple of times. Will share the quilt I made for my dad on FB.
I love the appliquéd blocks you have done so far. I think it would be wonderful as is with just some sashing much like you did for the critter quilts and it would be done!
Love the Halloween blocks and your new fabric line. I saw the FQS video with the It’s Sew Emma Pattern. So pretty! My Dad was a private pilot. He took lessons before I was born. My Mom said the lessons were $25 a week and they had to budget for them. Not sure why I remember that, LOL. He was also in the Air Force, but he wasn’t a pilot.
Thanks Barbara! Those quilt runs have been a fun activity to spend time with my son. We go out into the backyard and take turns running around with the quilt. Running around with a quilt is one of the best stress busters I’ve ever found 😂
@@barbararice1196 you are sooo right! They don’t stay little long. He’s in middle school. So, I feel like he’ll quit wanting to do this soon. Plus, I’m old-ish so who knows how much longer I’ll feel like doing this 🤣
Maybe a little "pooped out" 74 is Old!😏 If your son is middle school age he may want to run, but its not cool, so he won't. My great granddaughter is almost 12, its a tough age!😊
That Halloween wall hanging is going to be wonderful. After your animal quilts finishing it will probably be easy for you. (Especially with a second ghost👻.)
Plot twist is looking so cute and I love the England Quilt. My ex husband is a private pilot with single waver as a career and my 20 yr old is now in online flight school.
That was a goal of my husband's also to get a pilot's license. He was in the Air Force and was accepted to flight school, but, his mother became terminally ill and he had to give that up. After we were married, he did attain that goal of getting the license and went on to get his multi-engine pilot's license. We had several different planes and ended up with a T Tail Lance. He didn't choose to fly into his later years. He is gone now, he passed away in early June.....❤
Pat your “ Happy Haunting “ blocks are adorable. I immediately thought another up in the left corner would be perfect. Thanks for sharing I’m looking forward to seeing your work. 👍❤️😊
There are some really cute airplane blocks I've seen over the years. I have used Aurifil thread and like it. Thank you for putting the Halloween blocks up on the design wall! Looking awesome 🎃🧡👍
I have a lot of the cherrywood fabric, and I haven't used it. I do love the fabric , I saw the next challenge and I might give it a try and aurifil thread is the best.
Maybe check your binding basket to see if you've already cut something that wasn't used for it's original project that would be appropriate that you could use.?
