What the fuck have I just listened to? Could it be the best version of the Wizard of I ever heard?! I think so! I wonder if she got a slap on the wrist for this craziness?
Eden Espinosa would try things out in her early days without asking, so she might have done that to this too. They're so killer though, how could she not share them.
Not only was she coming for blood; the freaking orchestra was keeping up with her. The orchestration had some new, sexy things going on that kept up with her vocals resulting in my wig being completely snatched..
More than 2 years later and I still have to come back here and listen to this every once in a while to have my wig blow away by Willemijn's tornado of a voice and consequently feel replenished and suddenly life is good
I love this video. I got to see Willemijn live on April 11th and I was freaking out the entire time because she was so amazing and perfect. I was so lucky to get the chance to meet her after the show along with Suzie Mathers (Glinda), Mark Curry (the Wizard), Oliver Savile (Fiyero), and Sarah McNicholas (Nessarose). I will never forget that time when I got to meet my role models. It was so amazing. Too amazing to put into words.
I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Especially during Willemijn's Defying Gravity and No Good Deed. I cried during For Good. Every time I have been to see Wicked, For Good has always made me cry. So does the melting scene, even though I know that Elphaba only fakes her death. Willemijn and Suzie are just so amazing together onstage, and the way they portray Elphaba and Glinda respectively are just too amazing to put into words really. And Sarah made a brilliant Nessarose, especially during the Governor's Mansion scene and Wicked Witch of the East.
Elphaba Thropp I totally agree! The way Willemijn interprets Elphaba is just so perfect and exactly how I pictured her! So strong and open and vulnerable at the same time with an amazing sense for sarcasm it's just unreal. I've never had this feeling of being so blown away by a performance. You are right, there are just no words 😩 I hope so much that I can make it one more time.. maybe see Suzie and Willemijn together.. the singing, too is just... I'll stop here cause I could go in forever 😂 let's just say she pretty much mastered that role. For me, she IS Elphaba.
I completely agree 100%. Alexia Khadime may have been my first Elphaba (and she was awesome), but Willemijn will always be THE best Elphaba ever, though I would say Rachel Tucker came a pretty close second.
Carlos Alejandro Alvarenga What does that mean?/How is she able to go so long without appearing to breath? I've always wondered how it was done. (I'm sorry I don't know very much about singing, I just like listening to it).
Practice your breathing control, how you breathe and inhale to sing out notes with more fullness and power...strengthening your diaphragm, all that good stuff.
It's more the more control you have over your diaphram the better you can manipulate it and create bigger sounds with minimal breath being used. The best belters use less breath when belting big and loud because they achieve the power through breath support, really good technique, sound placement, and a healthy mix voice, whereas weaker belters will push more air to force the notes louder.
I get it. I see how it is. This girl is just gonna march right up here (or fly right up here), snatch my wig right off my head, and walk away. There have been a lot of extremely talented women who've played Elphaba (Shoshana Bean, Jenny DiNoia, Stephanie J. Block, etc.) but Willemijn is just in a whole other league. There's outstanding and then there's "how in the hell did she do that six shows a week for a year on multiple occasions?"
Dude I need and her or Amber Riley as a vocal coach if I'm going to be performing on Broadway! They, literally, need to become vocal teacher is that they are not, seriously!
What the fuck have I just listened to? Could it be the best version of the Wizard of I ever heard?! I think so! I wonder if she got a slap on the wrist for this craziness?
changedforgood91 you have to get riffs approved. She definitely got these approved
Eden Espinosa would try things out in her early days without asking, so she might have done that to this too. They're so killer though, how could she not share them.
Andrew J Koehler from what I can gather, James was away so wasn't there to approve them...
Andrew J Koehler But why? Couldn't they just do it? And what if the actors came up with it at the very moment?
changedforgood91 Close, but u know damn well The Wizard and I is Lindsay Mendez's song
Not pictured: the conductor freaking out trying to match her.
Raindrops on Roses hahaha! ❤️
Not at all.
I just picture the conductor breathing almost as hard as her by the end
Lmao 🤣
Not only was she coming for blood; the freaking orchestra was keeping up with her. The orchestration had some new, sexy things going on that kept up with her vocals resulting in my wig being completely snatched..
Nate Saez edges and all..
I absolutely love this comment
she sang “with me” to “things i’ve never felt” in one breath that is so crazy
I think I literally had a Seth Rudetsky moment where I almost got whiplash on "rest of my life and I'll want nothing else till I die".
Stephen Valentine AHHHH me too
I'm pretty sure I heard my back pop when I snapped my head up at this moment!!!

More than 2 years later and I still have to come back here and listen to this every once in a while to have my wig blow away by Willemijn's tornado of a voice and consequently feel replenished and suddenly life is good
She done snatched my wig and my damn edges with this performance
I saw her last Saturday, she's truly amazing, her voice is so deep and powerful... She's always giving her absolute best
Props to the conductor for keeping up with all that power, holy shit
I am dead. this was her strongest yet.

Elphaba Thropp wow how lucky 😍 I went and saw them on May 30th except for Suzie. I was literally petrified for the 3 hours. It was so good.

Omg your soo lucky!!
Her "this weird quirk I tried to suppress" is the most believable I've ever heard
This is literally the best WAI I have ever heard! INCREDIBLE!
I. AM. SCREAMING.
I'm so happy I got to see her perform live and meet her backstage. Her voice is absolutely amazing and strong and she is SUCH a sweetheart!
She didn't breathe 4:18-4:36 !!!
Jay Robinson breath support, my friend....breath support.
Carlos Alejandro Alvarenga What does that mean?/How is she able to go so long without appearing to breath? I've always wondered how it was done. (I'm sorry I don't know very much about singing, I just like listening to it).

@@whittosjuju Wow thank you for answering. So the stronger your diaphragm is the more air you can hold/can exhale for 'x' amount of seconds?

with time this song is gonna be a blast by all to hear 😭😍😍
how can she do this????? stunning!!
OMG Willemijn is THE ELPHABA! The best and for ever!!
I love when she does her new "and I'll.... till I die" option, but this one sounds a little slower than the last time she did it
i literally feel like this is real and elphaba is standing right in front of me. holy crap, willemijn.
wow!! amazing vocals! who else thinks at the end where she sing "I'd be so happy, I could..." the 'I could' sounds so scottish lol
IT DOES OMG
I saw her for my birthday the other day, and I'm in love 😱 so breathtaking
She's so good it's just unbelievable
The fucking slowed that shit down for all those riffs! YOU WORK THAT DAMN THEATRE WILLEMIJN!
I saw her last month, she was amazing, wish I could go again!
The way she sings the wizaaardddd at the end... omg. Best Elphaba. So lucky to have seen Will in concert and as Elphaba.

AMAZING!!!!! Thanks for uploading!
That was AMAZING!!
she said put some SOUL on that shit
nobody tops Willemijn ;)
TOO. GOOD
She was my Elphaba my first and only time seeing Wicked in March 2013!
crazy riffs like only she can! 💚
I know I am really late, but 1. she is fantastic. 2. Random but I love how crisp and clear the different components of the orchestra are!
I like what she did at "rest of my life, and I'll want nothing else" - otherwise pretty standard riffs. She's amazing though
Can I also just mention how great madam Morrible is here!
WOWOWOWOWOWOW this girl is simply fantastic.
Reading the comments I am so excited for this!!! Haven't heard her yet
She is amazing 💚💚💚
I watched this with willemijn she was amazing
Holy crap this gave me freakn chills
It's wild to think that this video was uploaded nearly two years ago!
Omg so good
I hadn't realized Willemijn was back in London. Wow!!!!! This is so epic!
I get it. I see how it is. This girl is just gonna march right up here (or fly right up here), snatch my wig right off my head, and walk away.

10 years, in four countries, in three different languages. Willemijn just completely sets a new standard.
I'm speechless 😍
Willemijn, Stephanie J Block, Rachel Tucker, Lindsay Mendez, Jessica Vosk and Alice Fearn are my favs, but I love Alice, steph and Jessica the most.
Shoshana?
her and rachel just slay me like im ded.
I saw her on bway in 2013!!
No one can touch her Elphaba.
Can't believe this video hasn't broken 1,000 likes yet...it's at 998, we're so close. Sadly I can't Like it again. :(

Someone plz listen to Jessica vosk she's so good too
Vim pelo Kami
Eh Rachel Tucker is my favorite Elphaba for ALL time!
A rift is nice. But when you do it every other line, it’s not as powerful.
