  • Join me as I plant style my living room with plants from around my garden. This will serve as backdrop to many of my future contents. Indoor plant care will also be very different from outdoor plant care. I show you my lighting set up, how I place/style the plants, and a satisfying tour at the end of the episode. I also utilize a lot of cover pots to hide hideous plastic pots, and share loads of indoor plant care tips.

    If you had a large bushy plant, you could put it behind the big light in the corner to serve as a nice backdrop for the design of the lamp and to cover up the propagation rack a little bit. I love the the steps under the window! What an amazing space for displaying plants.

    You have an excellent area to work with.
    Have you considered using highly reflective paint on the walls? You could also use aluminium cooking foil as wallpaper. A little research on guilding will open your eyes to possibilities. Also instead of wall pictures/paintings mirrors can be just as decorative but also reflect light that the plants can utilise. It will also create the illusion of having twice as many plants. The wall with coco fibre is absorbing too much light. Increasing and utilising natural light will allow you to redirect energy into an extra fan or two to increase air circulation.

Theres no noticeable difference between lightbulbs. The only benefit growlights have is that it omits out green wavelengths which plants use less of. Hence making it a little bit more energy saving/efficient for plants.

    its an old video and the current state of your home isnt the same but at this stage i kind of have to give my own-preference critique to it. i love your house and the layout and the looks but i absolutely dont like the ''ikea look'' of some things. ikea tends to have a very weird sterile design philosophy for alot of things where everything is either white or black and blocky or squareshaped somehow as if every ikea furniture is build with square lego bricks or something. and if you enter a room you just know its ikea and for that matter alot of homes tend to look similar and it kind of looks ''dead'' for the most part, hard to explain. i really think you need more warm colored earthy tones in there, instead of an ikea shelf, just buy a plank of wood instead for example.

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  5 месяцев назад

      Ooh yes I know what you mean. I was actually rushing to finish the house at the time and it was a disaster during the handover period from the developer. I will collect and redecorate over time. I actually love things that are more rustic/lofty with some history or context behind it. 😀

    • @MaybeTiberius

      @@onlyplants i dont even know the last time i bought a furniture lol. we have a local ebay thing here and people give away stuff too. i found a really bizarre behavior there. you know these heavy and solid wood furniture pieces that were actually crafted by real carpenters, parents or grandparents had? they smell like wood too, and last a lifetime pretty much. those things people give away here left right and center for free (because its not modern or something)...just so they can instead buy some cheapo quality ikea stuff to replace it with so i am slowly rebuilding all my furniture with these. It makes sense tho, since those wood furniture pieces last so long, the population balances out because old people die and stuff and then people have tons of unused quality furniture pieces and dont even know what to do with them. i just wish people would use them instead of buying ikea stuff
