Thanks, it surprised me. We planned to roll form it in the lathe or something, but figured I'd give this a try for the sake of finishing one thing around here. And it worked very well!
Many times I've had to repair loose bearing seats like you have on that clutch. Just take a center punch to the surface that mates up to the bearing. Put a bunch of punch marks all around that inner surface and you'll tighten the fit. It's a bit time consuming and tedious but it's a common repair done for many decades. I've made felt and leather punches from scrap tubing. Grind an edge on one end. For bigger diameters, I found exhaust pipe works good. You can always shrink or stretch as needed.
That tubing punch thing is great, as long as you have the right size tubing, LOL! Which I didn't in this case. And what's nice about that is you can sharpen either the inside or outside of the pipe depending on what side of the part you want to keep. How do you go about shrinking or stretching the pipe?
@@stephenstrohacker7863 Ohhhh, that makes sense! good idea, that is why I like RUclips, very helpful! I actually just ordered a set of expanders last night for another project, but now I know they will be handy for punch making too, bonus!!
Very nice! The bell shape on the tube is excellent.

@@JacobASwanson use the exhaust pipe expander to expand the pipe to needed size.

I believe green Locktite will work for bores up to .015 oversize. You might double check that. Nice work repairing the press.
