  • These are both Toastmaster grills. One of them required a full restoration because it hadn’t been properly oiled to prevent rusting, while the other was just in desperate need of a deep cleaning.

    I must have worked in a different kind of kitchen because my chef would have murdered me if the flat top was even in "usable shape". Love those grill bricks though, so satisfying. :).

      These are on a food truck likely, and run on propane rather than natural gas like most restaurant equipment. They will always turn the grill top black immediately and they never get back to silver regardless of your cleaning method. Im sure it has something to do with the way the propane is heated and the materials used in the griddle top.

    I bought this as my first propane grill. It's been a fun, learning experience ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt . I think it's a bit too pricey after looking at other grills, but it wasn't hard to put together and it works really well. I love the side burner option for heating food during a power outage. I have an electric stove and live in the South (Hurricane season), so this was a bonus. I also bought a cover for it and it has protected it nicely (the Char Broil All-Season Grill Cover 3-4 Burner: Large). Every few grill sessions, I take the rack (or grate) and burner covers off and clean them with a non-abrasive scrubby and mild soap. I wipe the excess off of the bottom as well, taking care to avoid the gas and pilot lines.

    How do we get the back of the grill clean? Or does that matter?

    • @pettank
      @pettank 2 года назад +2

      if it still matters to you, at my work we use about a 5:1 hot water to lemon juice ratio on the corners and sides to let the steam rise and soften the crust on the backboard and walls, then use a steel wool scrubber to remove the most of it. repeat the steam method and use a sanitowel to finish

      Lucky Garage raw potatoes for rust inhibiting and removal. Then commercial grill cleaner solution. The grinder and sanding block removes metal/scores the flat surface. Worn spots/wells/scored in the flat surface are the last thing you want in commercial environment. Warping/splitting can occur down the road from full heat at extended periods of time.

    Too much work just heat griddle add some griddle fryer liquid...I use glitter brand. Then grab a throw away bar mop towel with some tongs and wipe burned stuff off.. finish up by rinsing with soapy water and then plain water and that is it. Very Little elbow grease... You can also shine the metal up with an acid like lemon juice or lime juice or even vinegar... Get it mirror finished then wipe off and coat ofwith a little bit of oil to keep from having vinegar etch or tarnish the metal.. done.. Quick easy and no power tools needed
