I have to say, Aster vs. Placidusax was of the most cinematic battle I've seen in a long time. Teleports at crucial moments, attacks from far, close, displays of power. It really was one of the greatest battles by far.
Placidudax and Elden Beast were the best imo. An epic clash of giants. Seeing the Elden Beast and Astel go at each other at that final moment, where almost both died was amazing
i wish theyd have done one fight at range and one at close since at range he just beats him down to the threshold to do the op meteor, close range i think radahn wouldve taken it

I don't know why it took me watching Astel Stars of Darkness vs Elden Beast to realize that the Elden Beast is also a cosmic Alien as well. It honestly makes me appreciate it as the final boss a bit more. Yeah it would have been better if we got to fight a non decayed Radagon/Marika instead. But The Elden Beast would have been an exciting secret condition boss.
@@KKKuma also helps that Astel is large enough that the arena-wide diagonal cleave hit him like 8 times for a good 25%hp obliterated in a single move lmao
What makes this scary isn't the fact that astel beat every challenge up until godskin duo, it's the fact astel isn't an individual like maliketh instead just one singular creature that's part of a species of many many more.
@@hulmhochberg8129 unless they have a ton of AoE attacks, most bosses would have their hp whittled to at least half, and probably a lot more, by the time they get lucky and manage to reach Rennala’s 2nd phase. So saying Astel would have died if they kept his health that low through to Phase 2 is true, but I don’t think any other boss would do much better
24:40, Placidusax teleporting to narrowly avoid the meteor shower than pummeling Astel with three claw swipes and the fire breath. 26:20, Placidusax again teleports to avoid being finished off by the meteor shower and KO's Astel with the claw swipe. Terrific fight. Almost looks scripted because it's so good and cinematic.

i like that canonically speaking that god devouring serpent really is a threat its made up to be and astel really can "level" the eternal city, the only issue i have is with the godskin duo since he killed multiple times so that lost is kinda of bs, maliketh is a godslayer makes sense, Mohg and Malenia well the nihil and waterfowl were surely going to end up this way, godfrey is elden lord of a reason and gideon despite what everyone says is very powerfull
5:28 was like something out of an anime fight scene, both preparing their beams but Renalla beating Astel to it. Overall Renallas fight with it was the best in my opinion
Rennala and Astel had the best light show for sure, but Placidusax and Astel had a lot of neat moments in my opinion. I was also impressed how Astel managed to get Malenia to Phase 2, even after enduring a full Waterfowl Dance that healed Malenia in turn.
You know what makes Astel really terrifying? The fact that it apparently lives in SPACE. The cold, empty void that is space. Imagine you're an astronaut, just doing your thing, when you look out the window and see that flying in the distance. And then it turns, sees you, and changes course to fly toward you. Damn I love this thing so much, probably my favourite boss design wise.

I think astel has less spectacles. Elden beast teleportation is basically a mini black hole or cosmic explosion while astel is like just moving through space.

AND, i also hate that they just gives us the nerfed version of boss weapons attacks. i dont care if they somehow crashes my computer,
@@adamnave1078 I'm doubtful they have him in there too. In the meantime I always keep him alive until I'm ready to go to the next game cycle. I occasionally fight him then redownload the save so he's still there. A couple of days ago PS+ cloud saves were down for like an hour and I had just killed Placi, I was not happy!! (had to wait until I could download the save again to play ER....would have been a waste of time to do otherwise)
Not really, as he is using the player character model, meaning he will be knocked down by the first meteor hit, then be invulnerable for the rest. Just look at the Rennala fight. It had to spam the attack thrice to get the kill, and even then, it was super close.
Seriously though Placidusax dodging meteor strikes and that grab attack looked almost choreographed. I also loved the finishing claw swipe followed by the lazer double tap.
I like how Soldier of God, Rick didnt even attack. He took pity on the poor creature else it would hv been one shot. Rick even bowed down as if to say "I will spare you, give me an honorable nap"
Basically the meteors allow it to melt through most healthbars, but as it starts getting outscaled or the bosses start being able to dodge, it starts to pick up losses.
Yeah, Radahn has low hp than most of the bosses past Liurnia and he got stomped with 1 meteor, then the late game bosses just outscaled him. Though its understandable since this Astel is a mid game boss.
Astel is a my favorite boss in the game for the reason he desintigrated the fire giant. Been a big fan of shotguns and astel goes wild with the projectiles. Also it was funny to see astel roll catch the elden beast

Sometimes I take a moment to remind myself just how alien Astel's design is. By now I've grown accustomed to it, but when I first caught an accidental glimpse of him on a RUclips thumbnail it really freaked me out that there would be such a strange creature in the same game I was playing that had mostly just been dragons, bat people and knights up to that point.
Maliketh´s theme reaches almost every time the same notes in these compilations 24:00 an epic dodge 32:35 oh my god I was cheering for Astel, that was so damn close 33:30 that strategy was flawed
I noticed after Astel used it’s teleport, Malenia’s attacks no longer healed herself consistently, and the attacks that did healed a very small amount. What happened there!?
Just a little addition that would make more of these fights 100x cooler, make the smaller bosses prone to grab attacks in general(their stance immediately breaks or they get grabbed). Godfrey is of course the exception as him suplexing the fire giant or placidusax is pretty believable
All of these fights can be summed up as: Astel: dont make me use this! boss: gets astel to half Astel: thats it, now im using it! (summons a million meteors)
Placidusax using its teleports to avoid Astel's meteors was fucking sick as hell. That's the kind of thing you would script for a kaiju movie starring those two
I'd love to see how these bosses fair in Astels arena, he needs the space really for his teleport and other abilities, but great video though, loving it 🔥 (also if his grab worked as well on bosses)
Astel vs Placidusax looks like when you're playing a fantasy- or sci-fi inspired RTS and puts both your legendary units up against each other. All AoE attacks and gap maintainers, but hell it looks cinematic when you try it out
It would be completely OP, but I sort of wish the Bolt of Gransax could do that AOE attack Placidusax does where he plunges something that looks a lot like it into the ground. Really like the Astel vs Placidusax fight in general.
if astel had more space to move in a lot of tue later fights and was able to use the meteors whenever it wanted, not just twice, it would have absolutely melted everything in its path
there’s a reason why it’s only able to do it’s overpowered meteor attack twice. Edit: Also the meteor attack is way better in small spaces, (Except for the super small ones like in Gideon’s) in big spaces Astel almost dies to anything that can use projectiles. Like with Renalla
I have now perfected the predictions of malenia fights. First phase is difficult but winnable and second phase just ass annihilates the rest of the health left over from phase one.
It'd be cool to see Astel use the crash landing attack that was given to Radahn being used at the same time he does it, and see them collide mid air, although I bet that would be impossible to make happen.

Maliketh's projectile combos and multi-hit AOEs are his greatest assets against other bosses, and possibly player summons as well.
He is as strong as Maliketh. But nowhere near as aggressive as he is.
Damn, I actually thought Rennala was finally gonna win one of these.

Lorewise astel is really strong, but I guess his ingame attacks are meant to be really good against small targets, not other bosses.

Astel vs Placidusax looks like when you're playing a fantasy- or sci-fi inspired RTS and puts both your legendary units up against each other. All AoE attacks and gap maintainers, but hell it looks cinematic when you try it out
It would be completely OP, but I sort of wish the Bolt of Gransax could do that AOE attack Placidusax does where he plunges something that looks a lot like it into the ground.
Really like the Astel vs Placidusax fight in general.

if astel had more space to move in a lot of tue later fights and was able to use the meteors whenever it wanted, not just twice, it would have absolutely melted everything in its path
I honestly think even just more room to move would have made things go in more to his favor
there’s a reason why it’s only able to do it’s overpowered meteor attack twice.
Edit: Also the meteor attack is way better in small spaces, (Except for the super small ones like in Gideon’s) in big spaces Astel almost dies to anything that can use projectiles. Like with Renalla

I have now perfected the predictions of malenia fights. First phase is difficult but winnable and second phase just ass annihilates the rest of the health left over from phase one.

It'd be cool to see Astel use the crash landing attack that was given to Radahn being used at the same time he does it, and see them collide mid air, although I bet that would be impossible to make happen.
