Best informational guidance that I've seen on the Typhoon-H. Been packed away in storage for a bit... can't wait t to get it going again - thanks for sharing
Just got the typhoon h this week such a stable flyer even in gusty conditions. Iam just loving it the camera is excellent I would throughly recommend it tbh.
Just did my first flight and followed your guidance to the letter. It was AWESOME! As you said, the T is a sheep in wolf's clothing. It was so stable and predictable and the inaugural video of Boston in autumn was absolutely stunning. This drone is amazing! Thank for your help, Captain!!
Thank you Capt. Drone. Just did my first "square dance" with the Typhoon and all my props are intact! I followed your video recommendations and switch settings and had a wonderful flight. My wife did two trips around the pattern with two full stop landings. We have never flown R/C before. Thanks for putting in the time and offering quality instruction. Exhausted the last battery two hours ago and we are still giggling.
Hello Captain Drone, I went out and flew my drone for the first time this afternoon and it was a blast. All I did was take it to a school parking lot and tried it out. I just wanted to get the hang of controlling the drone. What an easy drone to fly. I have never flown one before so I was a little apprehensive until I got it up and running and into the air. Wow I am amazed how responsive this drone is and how easy it is to fly. I recorded some video of the flight but school parking lots and videos of the football fields and tops of buildings aren't very interesting, but I had fun reviewing the videos of the flight. My thanks to you for your helpful tips on how to get ready for my first flight. Happy flying!
I have purchased the Yuneec Typhoon H and it is AWESOME! Have not had any problems accept I had to re-calibrate the compass on it. Definitely great for beginners of how still this thing sits in the air! The gimbal is very officiant and holds very well in the speed of the aircraft
Great job!! Just got mine 2 weeks ago. I moved from Windsor to Houston to get away from the snow. Now I got transferred to Pittsburgh, can't win. I knew a canuck could make this simple.
Great video to get me started with my FREE Typhoon H. A neighbor gave it to me. I have to replace a broken camera mount, but it came with 3 batts and the backpack + a ton of printed documentation. Haven't got the 2 parts to repair the camera yet, should have both by Sat. Looks like a great rig, just hope I can fly it, lol. Thanks.
Fun to watch this again. My first drone was the Yuneec Q500 then the typhoonH + now have DJI Mavic 2 pro. Very happy now with the Mavic. Been watching you for years. Your channel is doing well.
Thank you very much for a clear step by step guide to flying the Typhoon H for the first time, something I intend to do within the 3 weeks or so. I've had the Typhoon H a while now so off to watch your video on firmware updates and get that done now. Your video has given me a real confidence boost!
Thanks! I tend to agree with you. It seems there are people out there who have flown DJI products for so long that their brains expect every other drone on the market to operate like a DJI product, so the comparison is always to DJI. Not everyone is like that thankfully. I'm a long time DJI owner and I found it easy to adapt to Yuneec's drone style.
Love your videos and how much time you spend on keeping your information viable. You seem to work very hard to keep your information relevant and I greatly appreciate your dedication to the industry!!! Thanks a bunch for all your direction! 👍👍👍
Hi Captain Drone, Thanks for your excellent video for beginners. I was originally planning a Solo until I noticed things were getting flaky about 9 months ago. So after a lot of research, I came across the Yuneec Typhoon H and decided after consuming way to many hours on RUclips that it was the way to go. I ordered it from the US at the end of January and was a bit nervous about flying it until I found your great tutorials. This morning I flew it for the first time after following your calibration video and was amazed how stable it is and how easy it is to fly. My first footage is pretty good thanks to a Freewell ND/CPL filter. I just need to get more confident to move to manual camera settings to clean up the noise in the blacks. Again thanks! Keep up the great videos.
Thank you for that. Great to hear your Typhoon H flight was flawless and your having a great time. That is what flying drones is all about. Thanks again for your comments.
Those are really nice... on my 2020 list for purchase, hope a longer lasting battery happens by then. Thanks for the video even though I'm watching it today.
Thank you so much ...i just bought this same drone 1 day ago and I'm totally new ...as in never ever done this before so you have to know I'm terrified to even take it out the box....but I can't wait to actually fly it after I'm sure I've learned enough , Thank you for your very informative video...ive subscribed to your channel to get all the knowledge you are giving...once again thank you!
CAPTAIN DRONE Hey I had a quick question. Does the CGO3+ camera work on the Q500? I know you can use it on the steady grip that comes with the Q500 but was unsure if it could be used on the q500.
Really great tutorial, Not only did i just order my typhoon h, I just subscribed to your channel, keep up the good work and I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions.
Great video, I have had mine for a month or so, and have flown it but it's winter here and no flying till spring or so. great to see a video like this if nothing else for a refresher. I watched your videos for updates too really helpful.
You are a very good instructor. Thank you so much. Looking forward to all your vids. BTW, I have the Typhoon H , I love it and Your right it’s easy to fly for a beginner.
great video! flew a q500 for about a year and then a q500 4k for about 6 months and didn't feel like it was quite what i needed but the more advanced options at the time were 3,000 dollars or more so I got into FPV racing, ended up selling my fpv quad, transmitter goggles and all and was able to put 50% down on one of these and the other half credit lol but I am so glad to be back into shooting videos. Just got mine today! great video thanks for posting it!
Great video captain, i know the start up time is quite long but a great way to do some pre flight checks. I also use the UAV pilot sim conected to my 55inch 4k tv for practise when the weather is to bad to fly. Keep up the great work, i hope you will review the ty plus.
Thank you for the video. This has made me much more comfortable about my first flight. The ground station is very intimidating to me. Want to learn more from you so hopefully you have more videos. Subscribed now. Thanks again!
Wow, what a great video! Thank you so much for sharing your expertise and providing the step by step. I'm taking the plunge and this video inspired a lot of confidence. Good piloting to you!
Great video my friend! I actually fly DJI drones and don't own a Yuneec but have always been curious about this drone and your video made me feel like I was exploring the bird and RC myself. Nice job and attention to details. I will check out your channel some more.
WOW hats off to you, Great job especially doing it by yourself in the winter.... I do have one question, why did you say leave the avoidance off 18:10 mark. Great job and thanks
Thanks. The obstacle (or object) avoidance system on the Typhoon can cause problems for beginners, especially at low altitudes (it also affects the overall speed of the Typhoon H).
Close to 3 years old this video is, however, still excellent information. Would love to see you make a Yuneec Typhoon H plus video (getting started) . I am not sure if you would do the commercial Yuneec H520. Any who, I check your channel most days for new video. Blessings to you, and yours ...
Yuneec is a strange company. I have offered many times to make videos for them of their products (review videos) which, given my track record of enjoying Yuneec products would help them greatly, but all I get in return is silence. They have adopted an attitude a few years back where they no longer let anyone review their products.

Thanks for this cold and cool vid CD! I loved it. Ok, now it is end of august 2018, after the presentation of the new DJI topdrones, Zoom and Hasselblad. Looking at the specs of this Typhoon H and the price I must say that this Typhoon is still a fantastic drone. Ok, the new Mavics have good options, but this drone is well build and still a very interesting proposition. Now well, I have a Spark, muuuuch smaller than this Typhoon. But when I want a really amazing drone this one will be on my list. Sure!
I bought the Typhoon (i don't know which model it is....how do you tell?) about 1 year ago. I promptly crashed it, and after #$700 of repair, I have it back. Of course, now I'm scared to death the fly it. I enjoyed this video, and just wondered if you have a follow on? I'm a professional Real Estate Photographer in Tampa, Fl, and many of my customers want some drone shots, so I need to be able to do this. The feature that intrigued me when I bought it is the function that lets you set way points and then just tell it to go ........it should go to the waypoint, let me take a picture, and move to the next, etc. Seems like a waste after I got it. It was immediately obvious that the battery spent during the process of setting waypoints was useless. I could have just flown to the waypoints, taken my shots, and been done. I do want to see other videos about flying it and actually using the features (like using the magic want, circle about a point, etc) would be very useful. I can find a lot of videos but they seem to be unboxing and useless stuff like that. What do you recommend?
Search in RUclips you'll have some great videos that are a lot more detail this guy here has a good one when he 1st used his but that's outdated and he doesn't even give you enough detail and he doesn't respond to anything because he doesn't really know that much about it other than when he 1st used it
I would go for the Typhoon H over the Mavic Pro since it has it's own viewing screen and hence, allowing me to use my cell phone for what it is. A cell phone!!!
The screen on a cell phone is big but still not as big as the screen on the ST16. Also the ST16 has built in GPS whereas most other controllers do not. They rely on your cell phone's ability to get a GPS signal. If you use a tablet and it has no GPS, then you're out of luck.
I would strongly recommend removing the camera before doing the compass calibration, to avoid undue stress on the gimbal motors. It snaps right off in a second or two, and slips right back on when you're done. Happy flying!
Just curious why you stated about the avoidance switch, that you recommend to do your 1st flight with it off? I am new to this typhoon , high caliber, drones. But that just sounds backwards to me. I am saying this because I crashed mine into the gutter of the house. I hit the follow me program and it went straight back away from me and hit the house. Would avoidance on have made this not happen?
Avoidance is dangerous for beginners on a drone like this. This is not modern day avoidance but rather something from the good old days and it can be unpredictable.
Do you recommend taking on line drone pilot course versus available free study info prior to the FAA test? Great video. Do you have another on actually shooting phots and video with the Typhoon H?
So, I have a TYphoon H, and wanted to give it a "first flight". This video seemed pretty exhaustive, so I was ready to go. However, before actually turning the thing loose in the wide open sky, I decided to moor the thing, and test it first. So, I laid down some bags of 22 ammo on the landing gear, and powered it up. Sure enough, the blades start at idle speed. Then I gave it just one tiny nudge up on the left joystick. And it jumped up in RPM. Then it jumped up again, and again.... It seems as if it were at FULL speed, and was seriously looking like it wanted to break it's moorings and be loose in my office with me. (Did I mention that I did this test indoors?) I frantically pushed the left joystick DOWN and it did resume idle speed, but not immediately. I am now wondering, if I do this outdoors, without any restraint, if I give it one simple nudge on the left joystick, is it going to shoot straight up into the sky and be gone? Serious question.
Hmmm.... you are slowly learning the world of drones. What you did and how the drone reacted is exactly as it should. You asked the drone to go up, the drone sensed it required more throttle so it gave more due to it being connected. You are lucky it didn't flop from side to side and destroy itself. Next time, let it go free... for a beginner, stick it in turtle mode on takeoff and it will be very calm to rise.

Just received the Typhoon H+ with intel realsense , my question is - will the typhoon with the landing gear in the up position, if for some dumb reason(first drone with retractable landing gear) i forgot to put the landing gear down when landing-will the typhoon not land or give a warning, or just crash on the camera?
Just did my first 15 minute flight with the Typhoon H, it was great many thanks to you Captain Drone and your videos which helped greatly. I have two questions was wondering if you would be kind enough to answer, one on the display screen on the ST16 while in flight appears a green triangle , is the head of the triangle indicating the front and or direction of the drone, I would assume so and second, I received an additional small antenna along with the three that were already attached to the ST16 it is about 1 inch tall with a square face about 1 inch by 1 inch, no explanation in the PDF instructions on the SD card, any idea what that might be for? Thanks again for all of your help, David.
David Velen The green arrow should point to the direction of your radio controller (the ST16). It is just an item to help you fly towards home when at a distance. I'm not sure what your extra antenna is. Normally small antennas are for video reception and are designed in a shape that allows one to receive video signal when not pointing the ST16 in the direction of the drone. Your drone is a newer model than mine so it could be some optional antenna.
Captain Drone, would you please answer this question? Which drones come with a viewing screen in the controller and has a 3 mile range? The only one I can find is the Autel Evo excluding DJI. Your time is appreciated! Thanks
Yes, I was very impressed with the Typhoon H or Hplus(2021). It will be my next purchase.I found Vertigo Drone on line, and I was wondering if there are any Discount coupons available for the H plus. Yes I know the H and the H + are still using old battery technology - not smart battery and the H+ does not have collision avoidance sensors especially for the price but it still intrigues me. I love the stability and the retractable landing gear.
That is what I have found, thanks for the reply. A friend has the H model he bought a couple of years ago and the video is very nice, so the H plus is a bit bigger, and has a 20 megapixel camera. Really looking forward to getting this new version of the Typhoon H plus
Not sure about buying this drone after looking at the quality of the videos now. It seems like the videos are a little fuzzy. Definitely not pro level video. I'm wonder if selling images from this drone's camera are worth the effort. I already have one client lined up to make some money of I buy this drone. Anyone out there comment on video photo quality?
The video quality is what you would expect for a 4K camera. If left on auto settings, the white balance can be slightly off. The only time you will get a fuzzy image is if you over expose the image, which is try for all of these small cameras. If you watch the following video, the end of it has a segment where I edited together lots of footage I took with the Typhoon H, all in manual settings (it looks great to me). Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/GPXbZW57mMU/видео.html
Any idea where I can get the little knobs that are on the bottom of the prop arms. I have lost one of these protective caps. GREAT video by the way, grea as a refresher and new owners.
This was an excellent tutorial on the Typhoon h. I’m torn between it and the Typhoon quad. One thing about this Typhoon h, which I don’t think was mentioned, does it have a RTH function? I would think it should have this, but no sure? Thank you for all your effort on this demonstration! Bravo!
Steve, it certainly does have a RTH feature, and a good one. In this video (at the link), I was trying to push the range of the Typhoon H and eventually I lost signal and RTH was engaged (you can see the entire event): ruclips.net/video/D6H-dZCpClA/видео.html
CAPTAIN DRONE - Nice! I know that was probably a stupid question on the RTH, but I’ve never seen it mentioned on any! I appreciate the reply! That Typhoon H plus is looking awesome, so, I’ll wait for you to buy it first, and go from there!!
You awesome guy! You rest my mind at ease with this video. I'm going to require a drone for work soon. I inspect rooftops and do home inspections. I'm just doing my homework on what I need to acquire 107, registration, license etc. (commercial use) so I have some work to do. I liked the Typhoon because of the stability and thermal camera available. (looks like a plug and play) Any other suggestions on a selection of drone and thermal cameras? I'm just keeping it easy and reasonable and see what the demands are till I get a little more into it. Great videos my friend and keep sharing. Your friend from Arkansas!
You are a superb drone introducer and explainer for any manufacturer, but I would hope new drone enthusiasts would consider the bad reviews before looking at your reviews because once you purchase, you are stuck with the problems that you experience so your drone sits on the shelf, or you spend more money trying to fix an unresolved problem from the past. I won't mention any product names but there are issues out there and it is too much money to learn on the fly, do your homework first!
Hey, back at ya! Sorry, I usually only have time to visit the forums a few times a week. I try an respond to comments on RUclips at least daily. Hope you were able to make a final decision on your Typhoon H Pro purchase.
The main issue for the stuttering in videos is the speed of the storage device it's connected to. I have a very powerful PC (4790k and GTX 1080) and the video stutters when on a USB Stick or my hard drive but when its on one of my SSDs no such stuttering occurs.
This type of stuttering is what is viewed on the owners computer due to as you noted processing power. Stuttering in videos viewed by millions on RUclips can be due to several things. One is again the processing power, two is the internet bandwidth, and three is how the video was rendered... sometimes a frame is dropped here and there.
I assume that the references to LEFT and RIGHT refer to the Canadian left and right??? :-) Just binge-watching H videos, prior to playing with mine... Weather isn't fit for flying, but at least I want to make sure it works!
Phil Buglass Left, Right, back, up, I was using all kinds of Canadian map direction language in this video :) Enjoy the H, it's one of the few fun drones to fly.
How easy do you think it is to go from DJI phantom 3 pro to Typhoon in an emergency situation when you don't have time to gather a lot of experience but you need to shoot an event over a lake? Thanks. Looks pretty easy to me, to be honest.
If all you have ever known is the Phantom 3 Pro, then you'll have a small learning curve... but there will be a learning curve. If you watch most RUclips reviews you'll notice that most of them are by DJI Phantom owners and they run into all sorts of problems because they assume the drone will operate like their Phantom, which it does not. As long as you don't try and immediately fly it like your Phantom and expect it to perform exactly the same way, then you should have little problem.
Thanks for a great video. Just passed my 107 and now ready to learn to fly my Typhoon H. Two questions. 1. Where to buy batteries and 2. Is there a written flight check list available? Thanks! Happy Thanksgiving!
Once again a tremendously helpful video from you!. I really am looking forward to getting the missing battiest and props and weather permitting getting this bird in the air. I think once I've finished my Part 107 it will really be a great tool added to my 2 DJI drones. One question, do you notice that this drone is any quieter than the Phantom series drones from. our DJI Overlords??
Best informational guidance that I've seen on the Typhoon-H. Been packed away in storage for a bit... can't wait t to get it going again - thanks for sharing
I've had my Typhoon at least a month, and haven't tried it as yet. Tour video is excellent. Thank You. I'm 74 yrs old and this Drone looks scary
Take it out to a big quiet field early in the morning and you'll be fine.

I have not used that SIM, very nice! If I can get my hands on a Plus version in my area, I'll do some flying with it.

It may seem intimidating but you'll quickly get the hang of it (we all started off this way).
Wow, what a great video! Thank you so much for sharing your expertise and providing the step by step. I'm taking the plunge and this video inspired a lot of confidence. Good piloting to you!
Great, welcome to the community of people just relaxing and flying drones.
Outstanding Video, complete and easily understandable. Thanks for posting this!
Thank you!
Plus, I can clearly understand every thing you're saying. Nice diction!
I really enjoyed that beginner bid. Thank you for the instructions
Boy your videos have come a LONG way since these early videos were shot...!
Great video my friend! I actually fly DJI drones and don't own a Yuneec but have always been curious about this drone and your video made me feel like I was exploring the bird and RC myself. Nice job and attention to details. I will check out your channel some more.
Thank you!
Thank you for the reply :-)
You really need to use a preflight check list on this drone, I would anyway.
Thanks!
Hi Captain Drone,
Thank you for this easily understandable video. I'll hope you keep posting more like this.
Thank you!
Hi Captain Drone
Hi Captain, any idea when you will give us a video on the H plus? Thanks, always enjoy your videos.

I sold my Typhoon H to my brother-in-law last year. He loves it and flys it all the time. I have not made videos on the Typhoon H in a very long time.
Search in RUclips you'll have some great videos that are a lot more detail this guy here has a good one when he 1st used his but that's outdated and he doesn't even give you enough detail and he doesn't respond to anything because he doesn't really know that much about it other than when he 1st used it
I just bought one on Ebay that I plan to use for my business. I did a lot of research and this one seems the easiest to fly.
Demetrius Evans what type of business? I just bought one for my home inspection business to do roofs that I can’t walk. I’m excited
Great job with the video! Just got mine today.
Hope you are enjoying it!
You are a very good teacher!
Why, thank you very much kind sir! Hopefully I can make more videos like this in the future.
Well the typhoon h doesn't have the range like the mavic and you can get a 7" table to fit in the controller.
@@MrMosinNagant1937 Line of sight ...
@@biggusbestus551 U got a very valid point .
I would strongly recommend removing the camera before doing the compass calibration, to avoid undue stress on the gimbal motors. It snaps right off in a second or two, and slips right back on when you're done. Happy flying!
Thank u for that beautiful information. U are right. Thanks a million. Joyful FLYING my Fello quad flyer or in our case many rotors flyers.✌
Very nice video ;-) thumbs up!!!!
Thank you!
Captain Drone. Just ordered the Typhoon H today. Thanks for the video. Hope if I have questions you can give tips Thanks again.
No problem, just post questions below any of the videos on the Typhoon H. Congrats on your new purchase.
Gday mate do you have a tutorial video to do software updates on the Typhoon H have a good one
Wondering how do I install updates for typhoon h.didnt see link at end of video like you said in your video sir
I like watching ur old vids and seeing how u don’t have all ur drones on display since u don’t have them yet
Dont rush yourself
I recalibrated the camera and now everything is fine. I had started the drone earlier this week with the cover on...oops.
Thank you for the response
Glad it is back in operation.

good vid sir. just ordered my 1st drone..
Great video and thanks for sharing. What about calibration before flying?
Just received the Typhoon H+ with intel realsense , my question is - will the typhoon with the landing gear in the up position, if for some dumb reason(first drone with retractable landing gear) i forgot to put the landing gear down when landing-will the typhoon not land or give a warning, or just crash on the camera?
Yes, it can land with landing gear up.
Very helpful video. Cheers
Thanks very much your videos are brilliant
Thank you!
Thanks
The old FIMI A3 had a view screen but short range. The Typhoon H has a 7" view screen and range of over a mile.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thank you sir! That takes me full circle back to the Evo.
Happy Holidays
Yes, I was very impressed with the Typhoon H or Hplus(2021). It will be my next purchase.I found Vertigo Drone on line, and I was wondering if there are any Discount coupons available for the H plus. Yes I know the H and the H + are still using old battery technology - not smart battery and the H+ does not have collision avoidance sensors especially for the price but it still intrigues me. I love the stability and the retractable landing gear.
Yuneec does not normally discount their products.
That is what I have found, thanks for the reply. A friend has the H model he bought a couple of years ago and the video is very nice, so the H plus is a bit bigger, and has a 20 megapixel camera. Really looking forward to getting this new version of the Typhoon H plus
Typhoon H is now for sale at Costco. $979.99. I'm trying to figure out what I could sell to buy this drone. Pretty cool.
Dan Wow! Great price.
The video from the DJI Phantom 4 is a little better but you can upgrade the lense on the Typhoon H and then it blows the Phantom 4 away.
Any idea where I can get the little knobs that are on the bottom of the prop arms. I have lost one of these protective caps. GREAT video by the way, grea as a refresher and new owners.
eBay may be an option. This Drone is extremely old so parts are not as available as they once were.
VERY well explained. Thank you!
Super cool video, my complements !!
Great beginners first flight, thanks
Did you get your 107? Did you study on your own or did you enroll in a course?
I'm buying this Drone. Love it
You are a superb drone introducer and explainer for any manufacturer, but I would hope new drone enthusiasts would consider the bad reviews before looking at your reviews because
once you purchase, you are stuck with the problems that you experience so your drone sits on the shelf, or you spend more money trying to fix an unresolved problem from the past. I won't mention any product names but there are issues out there and it is too much money to learn on the fly, do your homework first!
Oh Hello there! Thank you for the link CAPTAIN DRONE!
Hey, back at ya! Sorry, I usually only have time to visit the forums a few times a week. I try an respond to comments on RUclips at least daily. Hope you were able to make a final decision on your Typhoon H Pro purchase.
Still a little nervous. But your videos are helping me a great deal! Some of the best I've seen yet, so thank you!
Wow !!! That's awesome fella than you very much for the instruction.
Your a great teacher
Thank you!
19:44 I think the turtle mode is similar to the tripod mode of the Mavic Pro
Yup, very similar. It just slows down your input to the drone and the drones reaction to your input for nice smooth filming movements
I am very new to this hobby just about to purchase a drone in your opinion yuneec or phantom 4 thanks for your information in this video
It all depends on what you plan on using the drone for. Any plans?
How easy do you think it is to go from DJI phantom 3 pro to Typhoon in an emergency situation when you don't have time to gather a lot of experience but you need to shoot an event over a lake? Thanks. Looks pretty easy to me, to be honest.
If all you have ever known is the Phantom 3 Pro, then you'll have a small learning curve... but there will be a learning curve. If you watch most RUclips reviews you'll notice that most of them are by DJI Phantom owners and they run into all sorts of problems because they assume the drone will operate like their Phantom, which it does not. As long as you don't try and immediately fly it like your Phantom and expect it to perform exactly the same way, then you should have little problem.
had two typhoon h drones neither would bind w/contrller. what am I doing wrong.
Is the display 4k resolution??
Like allways,a wery great vid;)). Than`x,this really helped me!!!
Can you fly the typhoon H drone with no camera
Thanks for a great video. Just passed my 107 and now ready to learn to fly my Typhoon H. Two questions. 1. Where to buy batteries and 2. Is there a written flight check list available? Thanks! Happy Thanksgiving!
Batteries are available at Vertigo drones. No idea abut check lists.
Thank you for the video very helpful 👏🏻
You're very welcome!
Yes, it is quieter because with six motors the props do not spin as fast.
There's only three things you need to worry about The takeoff the flight and the landing... nice
