- Grade 5 level piano pieces according to Schaum - actually if played at full tempo they provide good repertoire for intermediate & advanced pianists up to grade 8 (mostly in a romantic song style). The frequent octave stretches are difficult at speed. To see video for each individual piece, visit playlist: • Schaum Piano Course: G...
After the first piece ('Bolero') some of you may want to skip to 'My Smile You Preferred' at 10:08, as Schaum made some slightly unorthodox choices for the pieces in between. Though most people will like 'Beautiful Dreamer' at 5:55 which is used as the middle movement of Schaum's 'River Boat Sonata'
Chris's Piano Lessons they're all enjoyable, whether they're the original compositions or an unorthodox arrangement.
The Bolero by Sanders was adopted in the 1950s as a pop song called "I Get Ideas".
Love "Pop Goes The Weasel", and the River Boat Sonata sounds almost like an early work by Beethoven.
He wanted to introduce musical form
Isnt that the beauty of the course.I might have llooked into the Sonata as a separte more in depth course of study. But miss out on more gorgous Shaumm arranged Schubert, an intro to left hand alone and that curious film music by Levine, certainly not
Its a practice book not really a song book. imo. The songs where each designed to teach something. Once mastered you can move on to the real thing like Bach and Debussy. I use these as part of my practice warm up
You play this with fire and passion! Great job! I have been working on it hard for the past week and will play it tomorrow for my teacher. Working on the Bolero, that is.
Thanks!
In case you're wondering about the re-upload of this video, it's because I noticed the first one was slightly out of sync... and realised it would always annoy me if I left it!
Chris's Piano Lessons Humoreske (Egyptian Musician) by Levine is sensational, and a delight to hear! The waltz that follows is more commonplace, but very tuneful.
Little David Play on your harp reminds me of a piece called Dances in the Cane Brake written by Ar. Composer Florence Price.
Thank you. Ive been playing for a little under a year and a half and sme of the pieces in this book where a little tricky sounding out
Nice glissando!
How much do we know about the mysterious Levine. Seems to have been mainly a film composer
21:45 the flickering shadow is nice song same playing harp.
I love the final three pieces of the set, all by great composers: Brahms Hungarian Dance, Chopin Impromptu (a playable version), and an excerpt from the Grieg Piano Concerto (probably the most well-known of all piano concerti, and my personal favourite).
same❤❤❤❤
Can we upload cover of this on RUclips without getting copyright strike?
I've not had a problem with copyright on this. Have you?
H book please..
Had a play through of the H book today - see latest video. Mostly just sight reading though
