Please remember that I am NOT a CNC expert, and I cannot help you troubleshoot your CNC router. Every CNC router, controller, and controller software is different. Your best option is to contact your CNC manufacturer’s Tech Support division, or look for a Support Forum or Support Community through their website. They are the people who know your machine best, while I would only be guessing.

Regarding the spacing of the horizontal flute paths after the "L" is added, using "offset" rather than "gap" would simplify things.

Hey Mark, I’ve got a question for you & your community cause I’m just baffled about my CNC’s performance. Maybe you’ll be kind enough to opine.
I’ve set my CNC up and laid down a spoil board on top of a bench I made specifically for my machine. I made a special effort to make sure the surface would be level and according to my levels it’s about a level as you can make it. I’ve also measured the distance between the spoil board and the bottom of the gantry (4.75”) on the left and right side but my projects are coming out shallow on the left (1/16-1/8) and to deep on the right (1/8-3/16). What am I missing? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for any help. Kind Regards, John

I am assuming I would need aspire, but what about fluting over a 3d surface?

You can certainly flute over a 3D surface in VCarve and Aspire. The surface has to be a model that is imported into or created in the software. In the Fluting toolpath, place a checkmark in the Project Onto 3D Model box before calculating the toolpath.
