I just ordered one of those modules. I am going to covert an old phone into a music player. When you dial a particular number, it will play an assigned song.
Oh thats really cool!
FIRST video ive watched where every single step and part was totaly understandable for a newbie like me! Thank you! The first soundfile sounded a little bit crappy and noisy! Was the original music like that or? Thanks
Have you used that resistor I mention in the video? That might be the problem
Today I had a chance to review carefully this video once more. All is well. Again thank you Nick. When the module is playing its light is red.. i used 16g SD as not to expect module to read more.I used a small board(400). Good luck guys, just pay attention to pin numbers and connect to any portable spkr via 3.5 jack for example. Directional 3 buttons are great also and work fine.
A Halloween audio animatronic that tells Halloween jokes. This is a table top radio, a raven and a skull and a bit of lighting.
Got the player. It is sounding very well. Only 1 issue I encountered with the buttons. Need to check again carefully. Again, thank you Nick.
+Karim Ismail You are welcome!
Great tutorial! Is it possible to put an LCD (1602 or 2004) for showing the name of the song and other information of the mp3 file? Thank!
Thank u!!! This video helped me out a lot because I’m doing a school project.
I am glad the video was helpful! Cheers!
Don't lie to us. You are a middle age man unemployed with free time
I dont know why... but for me, the RX pin was the 3rd pin and the TX was the 2nd pin. I initially set them up following your tutorial and it wouldn't play anything. I saw a post somewhere else that stated sometimes they can be backwards.... I switched them and it instantly started working.
I have brought life into a dead pinball machine using two Arduino boards. Now I plan to add music and sound effects to it, hoping to be able to use one or two DFPlayer Mini for that task.
+Tore Eriksson It sound great! Good luck!
Really enjoy these tutorials. The tutorial is clear, & easy to follow. Thanks for sharing.
Hi, You're great. I will use this module by a car mp3 player. Can name of songs be written on a lcd module by this module? Do you know?
I'm building the sound module for my animatronic pumpkin that yells out. "Happy Halloween!!!" I have all the parts and hope to get it all put together shortly.
That gives an Idea for an MP3 player for in my pickup. Simple to operate. Turn it on and let it play. I already have a small amplifier installed and have been using my phone to play music. Thank You.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I'm new using Arduino and Teensy. I'm looking for ways that I can create an interactive mp3 player that is activated by push buttons or touch pads. The buttons/touch pads will be on the outside of the story sound station I'm working on.
I'm going to use this in my school project! A question about the 3.5mm jack. How many wires are there in a sound cable? Is there a ground wire along with the two sound wires?
Yes. there are usually three wires. One for ground, another for the left audio channel, and another for the right audio channel. If you have a mono cable there will be only one audio channel and ground. Some cables also have three rings(four contacts on the end). The fourth wire in these cables is microphone.
Could make a df player mini and using a sonar detector and Arduino Uno that play upon detecting object? thanks
Good . I am planning to a digital clock with hourly, quarterly, half and 3/4 time accordingly chime two ways one thru sd card and other directly thru source. Good useful. Thanks🙏
Couldn't get my DF Player to do a darn thing before I watched this. Works great now. Thanks for a great video.
I'm trying to build an operational HO RailRoad Crossing with flashing lights and operating Crossing Gate... needed this part to play the approaching train sounds, horn and Crossing Bell.
Thanks... for the source...
You are welcome! Good luck with your project, when ready, please feel free to share a video with us!
I liked his video, because he doesn't make one to play animations from an sd card
Hi! I really liked your project , it is clean and simple, and very well explained.
I saw this video and its quite helpful. just before purchasing this I am wondering that this video is 4 years older so are there any new and cheaper products for this functionality
I did it on my own. No need to let me know I found the manual for the mp3 modual on line (the internet) and did it on my own. For example When I press one button it only plays the fist song, when I press the other button it only plays the second song and so on. I have made it to play five mp3 songs. Thank you any way !!!! Your videos are very educational.
hi! do you still have the code you used for that?
If the module required 3.3 v why can't we use the 3.3v pin on arduino?
You can. It should actually operate anywhere 3.3 to 5v. You can actually also power it off a battery, I use a 3.7v lipo and use it standalone from the Arduino. However, the rx pin isn't 5v tolerant and requires a lower voltage, or at least some resistance. Just using the 3.3v pin may save you some effort when working with Arduino.
I have done a little more research, and it may not work on 3.3v as that pin cant supply much current. you can try it, but it may not function right.
Great video easy to understand is it possible to add LED's that automatically light to the rhythm of the music ? Thanks
great, this is my firts project ! and thanks to you, I have sound !!!
Houston, we have a sound !!!
thanks
Cool! Thanks a lot! Liked and subscribed!
P.S.: When connect DFPlayer to external amplifier (like X-mini), you better use line output instead speaker output. Line outputs are Pin 4 and 5 - DAC R and DAC L.
Greetings from Bulgaria!
+vabozov Thanks for your comment! Useful information!
nice tutorials. but in sd memory card which name the folder is saved mp3 songs..
please the list doesnt work!!!
dude that's an exxelent video! short, not confusing and with the code. thank you.
but please, stop saying "in my opinion" when it's not needed (not only for you, for everyone)
this is a really interesting device, and it's a fact.
Would it possible to use the DFplayer to play music on a loud speaker via AUX cord? Or does it only work if the DFplayer is powering the speaker itself?
For some reason I can't get the arduino to run the unit, so I simply re-routed the pushbuttons to the built in controls and have it running great in the stand alone mode. Actually I think I like it better in stand alone. Price has gone down on this unit now under 2 bucks each.
I rebuilt one now using an arduino doing all the work, it does a nice job with that, driving a small amplifier and some speakers .
Good day, i dont understand the speaker part, can you please explain it more. Did you skin the jumper wires or not? you just taped them to the wire of the speaker?
Thanks for another simple and informative video. I really appreciate your work.
Great video, thank you! How could I do what you have described AND enable recording of voice back to the SD card? I know this would require a microphone linking back via the breadboard but not sure how it would/could work. Any suggestions appreciated :)
I had a lot of trouble getting this working, with little to no sign of life.
Eventually I found that what DID work was the command to play a numbered track, rather than first, next, previous.
Still don't know what the trouble was, but if anyone's struggling like I was, maybe jump straight to playing a numbered track.
execute_Mp3Cmd(3,0,track);
I want to make a theatre decoration with this project. I will put these stuff in a vintage suitcase and using a light sensor whenever I open suitcase it will play a different song. Imagine once you open its playing hymn and another time careless whisper. It would be very good. But I need help
Hello sir can you explain about how to store files on SD card in particular folder or format because I am just able to hear blurrr blur sound like mp3 file should be used or wav files
I'm using this module to build a talking clock, it's a very nice module.
+.rpv Great, please share your project with us when ready!
Thank you nick for your video. Will order the df player. Keep it up with more projects. U R awesome.
+Karim Ismail Thank you very much!
Sir i need your help how can i make project like that has 3 similar buttons but each button has its own audio file to play
You need to use the tx and rx pins for this and write your code with serial communications. This way you just issue a 0x03 (whatever the registry # is) to call up specific sounds or songs but you'll have to know how to use and include the spi.transfer library. Or you can just cheat and modify this setup's code... You know the play order on the mp3 files then it's just a matter of writing your program using the power as a reset and skip ahead function to get whatever mp3 you want.
NICE. Just what I was looking for. I plan to use the module as a player to replace the circuit in a Staples "that was easy" button to play custom files. The space is very limited though and I want the file choice to be random. Any ideas?
It works perfectly but i need it stereo. i m sending Dac I to pin 10 and spk 1 and spk 2 to the speakers how i must conect and prigram Dac R and speakers in order to get it stereo._
I'm using the software serial and for some reason, when I'm not connected to the PC and use external power, the MP3 player no longer communicates with the Arduino. I pull the USB cable out of the PC, stick it in the wall and it no longer works. It's weird that the Arduino pin 13 flashes when first plugged into the computer, but not with the wall outlet or a battery. Can someone please help, I've spent all day trying to find out why it won't work.
Thanks
Hola soy principiante y me gustaria plasmar este proyecto como roger beep en una emisora de CB.Mi pregunta es donde conectar el PTT para que suene la música o el sonido que grabe en el microsd al finalizar la transmisión.
Un saludo
happy new year bro and your programe is very clear to undustand CONGRADULATIONS!!!!!!!!
I want to Play Warning sound once it since Max Temperature value from the sensor. Like "'Warning Over Temperature Detected"' then do something...
Good project Boy if only you could have it remember the last song played so it did have to start all over again when you turn it on
Can you use a touch screen to operate the music being played of the sd card
Hi I new at Arduino and was wondering if this project will work with a nano or micro as I would like to put this in a project I am working on and it's a very small form factor and a uno will not fit thank you for the video and thanks to any one that can help
I'm trying a voice based blind stick project. This module and the Blind stick project works separately. But when I combine both it's not working. Neither it prints serial values of sensors nor the MP3 Files. Is it because of any hardware/software serial or any delay needs to be added?
sir I'm glad for your nice effort in educating us. I just want to know if you already made this mp3 player using the esp8266.
how can we make our constant volume converted into variable volume in coding of mp3 player using dfplayer mini... so that the volume can be controlled by Easy Motion and Gesture Detection by PIR Sensor & Arduino... please i need your help.
Nick, Thank you very much sir! May you be happy and healthy for a long long long time :) Sharing knowledge is sharing love! :)
I'm new in arduino device so... I was wondering if it's possible to play the mp3 without push any button and actived with voice? for example... using a microphone to rec a sound and when it's recognized the sound the mp3 is ready to play? thanks
Is there a way to make this device play more than 2 songs at a time... I thought of making a launchpad or keyboard.
Muchas gracias.
Quise decir corriente, no voltaje
I want to add a push button to rewind or skip the audio for 10 seconds....
Please help
Do you know if it's possible to add more than one MP3 module so I could have more than one 32GB of songs? So I could play the entire first sdcard and then have the arduino switch to the next module after
Awesome, but I have a question. If a song ends, does the next song play on the mp3, or does it repeat itself?
Do you think the 3W onboard amplifier connected to a speaker would be loud enough to be used as an mp3 doorbell?
I get a wierd static pop when the audio starts. Could that be the mp3 file or something in the wiring?
Nice video! Just a question: can you play multiple notes at the same time?
Hi sir , how can we replace the sound output from auxiliary cable to Bluetooth module for connecting Bluetooth headsets
I have something to help, please. I have finished everything. But when the sound starts playing My speakers have strange sounds but can't be played. Do you know why? It sounds like a lack of signal.
How can we avoid SD card and just use External EEPROM with Arduino to store mp3
Nice TUT, one question can you play 2 or more sounds simultaneously?
In wireless communication instead of buttons can we play different audio based on received signals??
the speaker is no longer available. Does anyone know where I could find something similar or a 35mm audio jack port that I could use instead?
I want to combine it with an FM module, so simply i can hear in the radio, what my project are doing in that exact moment
wonderful!!! can you tell me how to add bottons for the sound to increase and decrease?
Can you make a mini MP3 player with oled display and acrylic glass with 3.5mm jack female
Can I connect subwoofer speakers to this module? If I connect then what precautions and modules I would need?
Thanks! I tried looping sound on my DFplayer and it isn't working, any idea why?
Thanks for sharing this project. It is really fun. One question: is it possible with some implementations to read .wave files?
Thank you so much for this tutorial! Very useful and clearly explained!!! It did work! Thank you!!!
Hello. Can I plug output to an 25 W amp to get louder music? (with right speaker of course)
hi thank you for your Video, it has helped me a lot to get my player going. I am making a toy for my 4 month old with it, and I am just wondering where in your code can I get it to play the sound and stop instead of it playing throw to the next song. its a pull toy so I want the baby to trigger the play next function. and help please thanks
Nice vid! A friend asked me for help building a surprise gift for someone. It's a box that plays a sound when it opens. Would this be easy to implement? with something like a magnetic sensor or such?
This would be too costly.
1. Buy a musical greeting card take it from there or
Or use UM66 if to play simply the music you want.
Thanks
Is it possible to use the DFPlayer along with a HC-05 Bluetooth module (since both use serial)?
I have followed everything like you have said to the T. The light on the players turns red once the system connects and when I press the middle switch again, the light goes off. This tells me everything is wired up properly. But no music is coming out. I even changed the file names to 001 etc. Changed volume to 0x30. Still no audio. Can you help? Thanks
I would like to turn my car into the one from knightrider but i'm too dumb to write the code that plays a different MP3 file for different analogue inputs. Hopefully your code will help me.
i am using 5k potentiometer. when i vary potentiometer i want to play different sound automatically after every 500ohm. how can i acheive this task?? any suggestion
Hi. I have never used an Arduino before but I am studying the idea of making a musical mobile for my new grandson's crib. I want the music to be what ever his son wants ( he is a composer ). May ask, can the player repeat a track?
Hey vishal, nice video man , I have made all the connections right yet the audio output which I am hearing from the speaker is very poor and not clear , what can I do ???
Hi! Very interesting channel and video. I've right now subscribed!!
I have an question. Is it possible add an RFID reader on these components to play a different audio file from each ID? Thanks.
Yes of course. I was playing with RFIDs right now. That's my plan. Use RFIDs and this module to make a simple game for my nephew!
I got an advertisement for sea lions dancing to PPAP
Many thanks for letting us see this and sharing with us.
THANK YOU, great video.
i want to make a star trek alarm/door bell, how would i play 'track one' with 'button one' and 'track 2' with 'button 2'?
I have exactly the same question. How I need to change the code to have song 1 on botton 1, song 2 on botton 2 and so on, just play the file a single time?
I want to make a project named bird repellent device. it can use which to deter the birds from the fields and house roof. How can I do the same? Please reply
I'll connect this one with my project.. I'll let my project tall to me 👌🏼
i wanted to play some sound effect while moving a mechanical arm i'm making for a cosplay and i think this module can help me with that thanks for the tip!
Sure. Why not. You call it to play song you want. play(1) ... 0001.mp3
I'm having an issue where the df player produces sound normally, but when I turn off the power to the project and turn it back on, no sound is produced. The led on the df player lights up, which indicates it should be producing sound. I am using pretty much the same code (from the same now defunct banggood page) but hardware serial. Any ideas?
Hi, this looks almost exactly what I am looking for. I have never used Arduino before, and want it to go in a model I am making. I want to be able to play 4 sound files at the same time by pressing 4 buttons. Each sound plays when its corresponding button is pressed. Is this possible?
How can I only play the first song by pressing one push-button and then only the second song when I press the other push-button and so on? Thank's !!!
Do you be any chance know how to add a volume controle??? Maybe a Rotary Encoder???
em so wondering, are we can make MP3 player without dfplayer mini instead of melodies with code (with pitches.h) in arduino? Thank you.
one more question, I have made the mp3 to play the song that I want by pressing the corresponding push-button, what I want is to play the song when the button is being pressed continuously. Now if I press the button continuously the song keeps starting from the beginning and it dose not play the file. Can you help? Thank you !!!
are these kinds of mp3 modules common?? that's really cool
Can I run bigger(plugged) speakers with this module? Is there any relation between speaker and the module?
